Were you so upset when Rich Glas was hired? He came from Minnesota, Hawaii, Arizona..............not North Dakota.
Rich does have ties to the area in Fargo (Brother) and Bemidji (Mom and Dad).......Gunther came as close to hand picking Rich as you could while being similarly forced out..... That was all I needed to know, Gunther help build the program if he felt Rich could carry it, that was ok for me.....
Very similar to Dave Haskstol and Dean Blais.....

I'm not talking about Hiring....I'd just like to get them on the interview list....?

I would hope that whenever the A.D. makes a coaching hire in any sport that he does it because he feels that the potential coach is the best qualified candidate for the job regardless of where he/she grew up or went to college. If a potential coach has a solid reputation and proven track record of success in that sport at or near whatever level UND is competing at, he/she will have my support.
My opinion is that where they grew up, where they went to school should be part of the equation.....
I wonder why guys like Roy Williams end up back at UNC, Bob Huggins at West Virginia, Greg Mc Dermott in the state of Iowa ,
Mark Johnson at Wisconsin........(Just to name a few)
I think it is because they have better ties within the communities, better recruiting in roads where they grew up and learned to become a player or coach. I also believe they will give you stability, in that "It is Home".......
You will not have to worry about any of the above canidates I metioned in regards to Football, because they (have UND /ND ties) but would not now meet our ......"new" requirements in some form, either education or coaching experience.....
and would probably never receive a interview.......sad

Question for all the Sioux Fans, Alumni, and Sioux Faithfull.....
If Dale Lennon left (Hope He Never Does), who would we look towards, Would we look within the current staff (Mussman..?) look within the Sioux Family (Tibesar, Schweigert...?), or would our National Search bring in the right guy...?
It seems now with some of our quailifcations for Head Coaching Jobs, that some of our Current Staff (Gene Roebuck) would not be eligible to get a interview...
Times are changing are they for the better.....?
-
I have heard they are still continuing the interview process, anywhere from 1 to 6 more canidates may be brought in...?

Anyone have a link to the acceptance speach. I don't get ESPNU so couldn't watch it. Way to go Duncan, do it again next year!

What a great season, great semi-final game, Boston College out played us in spurts and outshot us like 2 to 1. We never gave up and played hard to the finish, made a couple of costly mistakes in the last 6-7 minutes. Boston College will win it all.
Congratulations Coaches, Players and Staff Great Job this Year!
-
The article also said there is a possibility of another DI game in addition to the Iowa St. game.
My guess is it will be New Mexico (Steve Alford).......1st year there needs wins.....
-
Corella....
I had the lead for about 2 hours, til Florida won now it is all yours......Good Job!

by UD
Matteo Fratini (110-117), Dusan Hecko (110-117), Roger Tilleman (113-116)
just saw this...

Anyone see this.....Just heard that he lost...?

I really doubt if there is not enough history for UND hockey to have a UND grown Head Women's Hockey Coach.
I do not want to get in a arguement, I just disagree with the above statement. I believe we have plenty of history in UND Hockey, it doesn't need to be womens. My feeling if we would have looked in House 5 years ago, we would not be where we are today, More sucess, More local Kids, and Tradition. Yes, Steve Johnson, Scott Koberinski, both would do a outstanding job in my opinion, But looks like they may not make interview list.
Mark Johnson (Former Badger) from Womens(2 time) National Champion Wisconsin.....his 1st Womens Head Coaching job..

A winning program would have helped. I really doubt if there is not enough history for UND hockey to have a UND grown Head Women's Hockey Coach. The program is a fledging program and has only been around 5-6 years right? I am not sure it's realistic. Look at Shanon Miller in Duluth. Her record speaks for itself.
So are you discounting what Gino, Dean and Dave have done....?
I would think that Mark Jonson at Wisconsin could be a Poster Boy.....
Hockey is Hockey...
-
I wonder how hard we tried to get her. The kid is good and a force.
Hmmmmmm........ I wonder if a "Coach" with UND ties woud have helped......?
-
I am not jumping off any bridges over no UND (Womens Hockey)canidates......But
What is wrong with either being from North Dakota(I'm from Colorado), or being educated at UND(My School "Hard Knocks")....It just seems to me that we have some talented and quailified people that have grown up in this Great State or been educated at UND, and they are never "Good Enough?"....
Where would UND be without.... These people have had some IMPACT!
Ralph Englestad-UND
Tom Clifford-UND & ND
Tim O'Keefe-UND & ND
Gene Roebuck-ND
Darcy Deustch/Cascaes-UND & ND
Kelvin Zeigler-ND
Dale Lennon-UND & ND
Earl Strinden- UND & ND
John Odegard- UND & ND
Gino Gasparini- UND
Dave Hakstol-UND
I'm sure there are many, many more from either ND or UND grads that have had a great impact on the University, they just need a chance.

Missed Again.....
3rd Canidate set, no UND ties once again, I guess it is ok to get a education here, just do not apply for a job you will not meet our qualifications....
-
Let's not forget that in the fall of '74 Jerry Olson took his Sioux team into Memorial Stadium to play the Gophers and early on the Sioux held a 10-0 lead. Midway through the 3rd quarter Minn led 28-24 and eventually beat the Sioux 42-30. That Gopher team was led by Tony Dungy and Rick Upchurch. UND had Brian Grover at QB and Bill Deutch and Dale Kasowski as running backs. We were completely one dementional as Grover was a converted tail back and could not throw a lick.
DG
Both Grover and Kasowski now have ties to the current Sioux Football Team, Brian Grover is Blair Grover's Dad and Dale Kasowski is Ryan Kasowski's Uncle....
Also on that team was Mike Compton from grand Forks, it was a great picture of him trying to tackle Tony Dungy in our media guides for years....
Your right Murphy, Frank Zazula was a Great one, he coached just about everything, also the Host couple at my Wedding.
Just a note on Roger Thomas, without Roger I do not think Dale would be the Coach he is today. Dale played for Beherns, but Roger help him along his coaching path.

That is awsome to hear those possibilities about ISU games.
Mens is a Lock......Womens is not confirmed yet

Corella jumps into the lead may be un-catchable......

That would be fantastic! Will it be regular season or exhibition?
Regular season I believe it will be in January...of course at the Hilton Coliseum.....
They are also working on a deal to get the UND Women in the ISU christmas tourney....
-
I know we will be playing Iowa State next year....
If Dale Lennon Leaves....

Tim wouldn't quailfy for a Interview....No Head Coaching Experience...?
I personally think it is time to re-think our Criteria.....
