  1. Good grief...when I read the title of this thread, I thought that even though it's 85 and sunny in Minneapolis, that somehow, somewhere, someway, North Dakota was getting snow.

I thought the same- somewhere in North Dakota was getting snow. And I live in North Dakota.

  2. As far as South's performance, I hope they enjoy the good run that they are on because once the third high school opens up, the talent will be diluted.

When does the third High School open? Also, can't a kid play for a different school (not the one they are going to) in Fargo? Thanks.

  3. Devils Lake isn't in the West anymore. They switched with Jamestown at the end of this last season. You're right about everything except that. Oh, and they will make noise in the East this year.

Devils Lake switched with Jamestown! I had heard that Jamestown was going to be in the West but I did not know that a West team was going to be in the East. I had just figured that the population out east was getting high enough that Jamestown needed to be moved to even things out. Well, thank you for correcting me. By the way, why would Devils Lake and Jamestown switch?

  4. One thing is for sure, the East is a lot better than the West again.

Yea, thats pretty much a given. I just hope that at least one team out of the West will win their first game at state. Maybe Devil's Lake. I think they only lost four players to graduation and they were pretty good last year. I was at the came where they took Minot to OT and Minot was pretty lucky to pull off a win.

  5. Which school has the strongest team coming back? I think Minot will be down in the west but it does not seem to matter at state, in the last 13 years or so, even if they do have a good team. Which team do people think will win it this next year? I would have to say Fargo North or Central but I could be way off base too.

Yea, from what I can see Minot is going to be way down this year (depending on how the other teams in the West have changed). They lost a lot of seniors and I don't think that they have to much talent coming in. I do think that their goaltending should be pretty good though.

  6. I was looking for some information on the re-districting done by USA Hockey but could not realy find anything, so thanks for any help. What will this do to hockey in North Dakota? Anything? How about Minnesota? What does the re-districting do?

  7. It's not the West has no talent, it's the depth of the teams and overall ability of the team. Individually the West has produced some amazing talent, but with that talent usually comes little to work with becuase of little history and support. Teams from the West are generally weaker than East teams becuase hockey is a team sport, and the East has had the tradition and constant competition level to stay at a higher level as a team. If memory serves, BHS or Century, can't remember which, has easily outnumbered the amount of highly recruited players than anyone but Grand Forks in the East. Individual talent exists, but generally there is a lack of team ability to compete with the East on a regular basis.

What you say is pretty accurate. Minot does well in the West and then goes to state and gets beat, after leading the games, two years in a row by Central. From what I know, Minot out-talented Central but they could not beat them. Minot's State problems have to have something to do with history. I think if Devil's Lake had been at the top of the West this past year they would have beat Central. They don't have the same history of failure (at State) that Minot has and their team was very young.

Just curious here. What are the rivalries like out East? I know that the Bismarck-Minot rivalery is pretty good. Plus, Minot has been beating them. I was in Bismarck for the rabbit fiasco and it was quite fun. The Bismarck rink is nicer than Minot's though because it is smaller and thus you can pack the house. Minot's rink is just too big. ??? I would think that South and Red River are getting to be pretty good rivals. Thanks for any replies.

  8. Man, I have not been at a computer since Wednesday, before the D1 anouncement. To bad I was not here for all the hype, but I did just read through a buch of it.

Well its nice to see that UND is going D1, thats the decision I wanted. And I hope we beat the Bison in football next time we play them.

  9. What are the chances that the NCC is going to go D-1?

The North Central is also looking at moving as a conference to the Division I level, Thomas said.
I would not like to see the NCC disappear for ever and I think it would be pretty cool to have a D-1 NCC. I have hardly any idea on the feasibility of a move to D-1 though. Thanks for any replies.
  10. Good choice. After watching this final series, I will think of the games in Edmonton when both of the Anthems were sung. Such passion from the crowd went into singing those. I get the chills when I think of it. I noticed tonight that Carolina returned the favour to Edmonton, by singing along with O Canada.

The Anthems have definitly been great in this series, thats for sure. I love the crowd singing along. Oh how I love hockey games...

  11. If you think Siouxmama and Mr. Siouxmama took that off sale to their room to watch a football game in their room, in Vegas, without the kids, I've got a bridge for sale that you might be interested in!

Sorry Sioux-cia, I don't know what "off sale" meens. Guess I'm to young or something. If ya could clue me in that would be great, thanks.
