  1. Another way to counter the argument that a UND-NDSU game takes revenue away from the the schools and the state it this. This year UND has 5 home games and NDSU has 5 home games. That equals 10 time the 2 teams play in North Dakota. If one of the university's away games was at the other North Dakota school that would be 11 times they play in North Dakota.

  2. If a player is a redshirt freshman can he also later be a medical redshirt? Or can he only be an athlete for 5 years with 1 redshirt year? (as apposed to 6 years with a redshirt freshman year and a medical redshirt year)

  3. You have five years to complete four seasons of college playing eligibility.

Most players (in football at least) practice with the team during the first year but do not play (and thus do not use up a year of playing eligibility).

Thus, the year after that is their second year as a college student, but their first year on the active roster. Those folks are normally called "redshirt freshmen".

The NCAA doesn't officially recognize the term "redshirt". It's a colloquial phrase to describe someone "on the five year clock but not using eligibilty".

Shall I confuse you further and talk about "medical redshirts"? :silly:

Sure! ;) Thanks for the replys. In light of learning what a "redshirt" is I will take a stab at it though. A "medical redshirt," I would guess, is an athlete who is misses one of his seasons of eligibilty do to a medical situation. He is then alowed another year of eligibilty, athough it still comes out to 4 seasons of acctual play.

  4. I am not an alumni (maybe someday...) but last winter I was in Denver and went to a Colorado Avs game. I wore a green (away) Sioux jersey and waiting to leave at the end someone hollered "Go Sioux" or something to that effect. It's pretty cool that North Dakota fans make their pressence known to one another.

  5. Good grief...when I read the title of this thread, I thought that even though it's 85 and sunny in Minneapolis, that somehow, somewhere, someway, North Dakota was getting snow.

I thought the same- somewhere in North Dakota was getting snow. And I live in North Dakota.

  6. As far as South's performance, I hope they enjoy the good run that they are on because once the third high school opens up, the talent will be diluted.

When does the third High School open? Also, can't a kid play for a different school (not the one they are going to) in Fargo? Thanks.
