  1. Yes because they are. Same goes for all the pathetic NDSU fans who refuse to capitalize UND.
  2. ss.com still allows people who use bisexuality as an insult to post? Can we assume that he is 11 years old and ignore him?
  3. It's probably tough for UND to swollow because they were supposed to be the main flagship in the style of UWyoming. But basically because they decided to put the Ag College in Fargo, it grew too fast and they had to give it actual university status. If they had put the Ag College in say, Valley City, UND would be the only major research college in the state I bet.
  4. I actually kid of doubt that farmer Ted cares much about MDs or JDs. Farmer Ted likely cares more about which university supports and helps farmers in the state. That was an odd example for you to pick.
  5. Nice! When someone presents an argument, try to deflect into an irrelevant topic!
  6. We won't have to worry about much until 2022. Assuming you can keep 6 members together you can get autobids then to everything except the MBB tourny. But by that time the BE will have split. So there will be 32 conferences. Everything will be nice and even in DI.
  7. That's what I meant. That's the state's perception right now because of NDSU's football program the last two years including beating Minnesota.
  8. It doesn't matter if UND is the factual flagship by any criteria. Perception makes reality. And the perception in ND right now is that NDSU moved past UND.
  9. The Summit is not going to offer UND and USD until they are in the last year of their transition 2011-2012. By then, both will be released from their GWC obligations. The football deal, OTOH, is 5 years. That means that UND and USD are obligated to play in the GWFC through the 2012 season. They will be eligbile for the FCS playoffs starting the 2012 season. Likely the MVFC will offer both teams to play starting in the 2012 season, possibily earlier. So there is potential for a buyout there.
  10. The Great West will be eligibe for non MBB autobids in 2022. Need another Core member for a shot at the MBB autobid.
  11. I would say it also helped to cement the perception in the minds of many ND residents that NDSU is in fact the flagship public university of the state.
  12. Which is amazing considering NDSU only offers degrees in agriculture and plant science.
  13. Seems like too good of a thing to let go. Makes you wonder if we could form a new DI NCC with NDSU, UND, SDSU, USD, UNI and some others, maybe Montana and Montana State?
  14. Nah. At that age kids jump wildly from one interest to another. Which in turn doesn't surprise me that there is little interest even in Fargo. No doubt that there is a big gap from football to baseball as far as an outdoor sport. My opinion is that the MLS will capitalize on that gap rather than Lacrosse.
  15. I actually amended my stance to include high school club teams. But there are not even high school club lacrosse teams in ND. But as it stands now, every sport that NDSU and UND offer are sanctioned sports of the NDHSAA. That's how it should be and how it should stay. No lacrosse, no equestrian, no BS.
  16. As long as the population was over 20k, I am proven correct and you are proven wrong. Going against data: you're obviously not a businessman.
  17. That was never the reason. The reason is the fact that the demand for this game will be a minimum of 30k tickets and the state of ND doesn't have a facility that comes anywhere close to that.
  18. Data trumps anything you say. NDSU season attendance in the 18k range has never happened at DII and it never would have happened. People come to the Fargodome to see DI ball and the same will be true for UND.
  19. Lets just say that the game would cause demand for 30k ticekts hypotehtically. That still leaves 11k people without seats at the Fargodome or 17k people without seats at the Alerus. Talk about inappropriate!
  20. Data proves this false. See our average attendance for DII vs DI.
  21. Both teams are DI counters starting in 2009. When it was last played the game was DII. The rational for 60k is this: - 30k NDSU fans showed up for the last NDSU/U of MN game - UND has more Mpls alumni than NDSU - 30k + 30k = 60k
  22. No, no, no. Only a handful of really old, really bitter fans have been saying that. The vast majority want the rivalry to be renewed as soon as it is practical. No, that's not it. I think the game should be played there because the demand for tickets for the renewed DI rivalry will be far greater than the Fargodome or Alerus center could support and Mpls is close to both Fargo and GF and has large numbers of alumni living there from both schools.
  23. Then don't show up! With the demand for tickets that going to happen for the next NDSU UND game, we need a stadium with at least 40k seats. I don't see the Fargodome or Alerus increasing capcity to that.
  24. If you'd have said that I would've agreed with you right off the bat.
  25. This is certainly true for shopping. But when it comes to supporting a public school football team, I think you'll find that most people in the south are very provincial. If they live in Biloxi, they're more likely to support Southern Miss just because it's Miss over USA.
