  1. Right...anyone who does not show unwavering, fanatic support for the nickname is automatically "anti-nickname". If they're not your undying ally, they are your hated enemy. Nice way to do business...
  2. I've already admitted (probably more than once) that I root for UND when they're not playing NDSU.
  3. Because the AD don't make those decisions, the presidents do.
  4. You obviously like to think of yourself and want people here to think of you as some sort of "insider". Bisonville has these same types and they appear to be claiming that the BSA remodel (30 million for new bball arena and a separate indoor track facility) is a done deal. Forum today indicates the same thing with Erv retiring. So to your "inside" info re: Sanford: maybe, maybe not. But either way, we're going to get the BSA remodeled.
  5. Assuming that the Big Sky presidents would allow football-only membership. There is nothing out there even suggesting they would.
  6. "expanded use of the development foundations(not just NDSU's) to skirt the bureaucracy of the SBoHE and the legislature" doesn't sound criminal to me. Is it bending the rules, yes of course. But has a crime been committed?
  7. In what sense does it become "criminal" vs. just unethical or maybe just pushing the envelope?
  8. I'm not a member of the "Chapman was the best NDSU president because the University grew the most under his watch" club. I don't believe in growth as the end all, be all. Well planned, well controlled growth is good. Not free, unregulated growth. That said, there are a lot in the state that don't care personally for Chapman and I think their personal emotions are clouding their judgment when it comes to all this "criminal" talk. I don't see any crimes that happened, unless some significant new information comes to light. I think Chapman pushed the envelope, sure, and maybe too far but not criminally.
  9. Nothing criminal happened. Lack of SBoHE oversight is not a crime.
  10. Sac and Portland don't have bball facilities. They play in high school gyms. And they can't afford to rent local NBA arenas for every home game, not happening. Sac might have enough seats to meet FBS, but their stadium is not that great (it has a track around it). Portland plays in a minor league baseball stadium. The markets would be right and both teams west coast, but I have trouble seeing the other presidents signing off on them. UND and USD will be in the Summit League under lock and key before the Big Sky will have a chance to get at them.
  11. To get more money? I guess the pertinent question to ask is "Can FSC money be used for non-athletic purposes and can Foundation money be used for athletic purposes?"
  12. As long as the air force base stays open, Grand Forks' private sector lives on!
  13. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is UND and its great programs. UND hockey. UND football. UND aerospace. U N D Sioux was great in its time and place, but that time and place is no more. Be thankful for what you still have.
  14. You hit it right on the head! These people claim to be taking away their donations...but then they still watch the teams just like old times. You're absolutely right, they were just looking for an excuse to stop giving money. They're cheap. They aren't ethical, just cheap. UND doesn't need and shouldn't want those types as "fans" anyway.
  15. You're not practicing what you preach. You claim to be ending support for UND, but then you support them. There is no other way to look at it in my book and it's nothing more than an excuse to stop donating.
  16. Well whether stopping donations of any kind for any reason is right or wrong on its own merit is one thing...but what's completely wrong and absolutely hypocritical in my book is to say that you are no longer going to support the athletic department by canceling your donations to the AD ... and then turning right around and giving the AD your support by going to the games or even by watching them on TV. You say you're not going to do something and then you go right on and do it. If you're going to cut off donations, then be true to your convictions and disavow any support to the athletic department.
  17. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/278574/ 90+ days....just to certify the names on the petition....once a certification process has been drafted...then $80-100k to hold a special election.
  18. Oh ok, so you're just canceling donations to the school, but you're continuing your donations to the athletic department?
  19. If you withhold donations from the athletic department, but then turn around and continue to support the athletic department by still watching the teams is being a hypocrite in my book. If you were truly serious about boycotting the actions of the athletic department, then you should not support them in any way.
  20. And if you're not a hypocrite, you will also stop attending or viewing UND sporting events.
  21. That's one of the most mind boggling things about this whole circus, since the beginning. Did the NCAA or the state of ND actually ask the Sioux tribes what they thought about this whole deal, before it happened? Where they 'at the table' for discussions? Or was it basically the NCAA says "we decided on our own that Indiana nicknames have to go...lets see....Ah ha! U of North Dakota has 'Fighting Sioux' and there are two Sioux tribes in the state of ND....ok, UND has to drop the nickname or get the approval of both of those tribes...done, next".? Sounds like it
  22. You obviously wouldn't care if NDSU alone burned for this, right? What's good for NDSU is good for UND. Same system, same oversight.
  23. I'll give you that. It'd be nice to hear his side of the story.
  24. Talk about a "race to the bottom", everyone and their brother falling over themselves to blame Chapman for the world's problems. It's never this black and white...unless it's a "news" (entertainment) media story. None of us will ever really know the full story unless you were right there with Chapman 24/7. Again, it's never this black and white. That's something that proves out in life, time and time again to those who are actually in the know.
  25. That's the same way I feel about everyone in this thread trying to get Chapman's blood! You won't admit that there is any possibility for a gray area, it's only black and white.
