  1. Just take the URL to a tweet (e.g. http://twitter.com....), and paste it into the editor. If you're having troubles getting the link to a specific tweet, hit the "...", click copy link, and then copy the link to your clipboard (Ctrl-C on windows, Cmd-C on apple).
  2. To the contrary, there's now native support for fully functioning (e.g. likes, retweets, follow) embedded tweets. Just paste in the link.
  3. Fixed. Given that it doesn't work in your usual browser, but does when you switch away to a less common one, I'm guessing that this is a browser cache issue as I described above.
  4. You don't a "Theme" dropdown at the bottom of the page? (right next to the Privacy Policy)
  5. Most of the problems (apparently missing functions) are due to people having cached icons from the old system. Clearing your browser's cache would fix it. So would a forced reload (holding Shift or Control while pressing reload on most computer browsers).
  6. Yeah, that's the biggest complaint I've seen on their support forum (which I've been watching closely to decide when to jump). They claim these "streams" are much better because you can set up streams other than just unread. But, I'm certainly not used to them yet. Made me wonder if this is them dipping their toe in the water to consider moving away from a traditional 90s era paginated forum to something more feed-based like Twitter or Facebook.
  7. I installed a notable update to the forum that included a new version of the editor. Hope this helps with some of the editor problems people have been having, it's certainly worked well for me so far! (the red quote line is gone!) However, given that it was a significant update, I'm sure there will be some issues. Let me know of any problems.
  8. Yeah, I already have a few of those locked up from when I thought I might make a change back in the no-nickname days. Definitely a possibility if people stick to calling us "North Dakota" more than "Fighting Hawks".
  9. I'll definitely get the update on here sometime during the break. Lots of changes to the editor, so hopefully more problems go away than are caused Is your zoom issue all the time, or just sometimes? I see it happen sometimes when someone has embedded non-responsive content (e.g. a large image).
  10. There's been a significant update to the editor available for a few weeks, but I'm always hesitant to jump on the first release. Will probably switch to it over the Christmas break, by which time it will probably be on the 3rd or 4th iteration.
  11. I was trying to put together a rebuttal post about how Santiago was #4 in I-AA with 1459 yards rushing, and intended to compare him to the top NDSU rusher. Unfortunately, they only listed the top 50, so no NDSU players were listed. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fcs/current/individual/469 But, you're right, no one is disputing that the NDSU defense stopped UND cold. But to question whether Santiago is a top rusher just makes you look silly.
  12. Ok, I'll try making it unlimited and we'll just adjust later if it turns into a problem.
  13. I'm not sure that was deliberate, but it has that effect. A plan to start using a new name in a year would still seem like something that could be attacked or petitioned against. Fighting Hawks is UND's nickname right now. It'll be in articles and web sites which well help it work into social media which will help make it accepted.
  14. And later in the day, UND revised it's own article to refer to its team as Fighting Hawks: http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=210513589&DB_OEM_ID=13500
  15. First time I've seen it used in a real story not about the name itself: http://www.bigskyconf.com/news/2015/11/19/WVBALL_1119154505.aspx
  16. Next summer. Here's a nice FAQ on what won't change, what will, and when.
  17. I'm sympathetic to that point -- a one page summary of everything is a nice way to glance at everything that's happening, and those who want to dig deeper can follow a link to another page. I'll see if I can come up with something to get those back on the front. Twitter is pretty strict about not reproducing the text from tweets, so I can't just make a clickable list like I do for the forum topics. Any reproduction of a tweet has to be a live tweet with the full name, avatar, timestamp, actions, etc... In somewhat comical timing, Instagram also just announced a crack down on its display requirements yesterday, so I'm going to have to dig a bit deeper into that, and I suppose there's some chance I won't be able to do this aggregation anyway.
  18. Thanks. Link fixed. Forum software included punctuation in link.
  19. While we all look younger in photos, you're clearly familiar with Mr. Berger's Movember movement (https://us.movember.com/mospace/8054317 ). Shameless plug.
  20. The social media tracker page is supposed to be an expansion of the current Twitter feed. The breakout of social and news into their own pages reflects a combination of simplifying the front page to make it more mobile-friendly and intentionally putting my efforts into value-added (e.g. unique to siouxsports) features over things like scoreboards that are now trivially available from other sources. While the left-hand navigation is gone, the schedules are still accessible from both the scoreboards (on the right) and from the site links on the bottom. As I hinted at above in discussing "value added" I was trying to strike a balance between not putting too much effort into features that are available elsewhere, though maintaining basic items of interest to siouxsports visitors like schedules and standings.
  21. Sorry, didn't mean to skip a question. Back when the site was entirely manual (e.g. each update involved me typing it in, including every score to every game and every change to the standings) I had to limit it to hockey and football due to time constraints. Those sports were chosen because they were the information I wanted to find on the Internet, but that wasn't already available anywhere else in one spot. Now, thanks to automation, I no longer have to type in things like scores. But, scores are also discoverable from countless other places (everything from UND athletics' site to ESPN), so I'm not putting in a lot of effort to duplicate something you can get elsewhere and where I'm not adding value. I keep displaying the hockey scores because I have to maintain the automation technology to acquire them because I use them for rankings and other things; I keep football around out of tradition, I guess. But, part of the new social & news page improvements are that they incorporate more of the major sports (including men's & women's basketball and volleyball).
  22. If you think this looks more dated than this, we'll have to respectfully agree to disagree. But, no doubt, design is a subjective thing and good people will disagree on what's good.
  23. Given that the page is dynamic (the blocks move around based on content), I assume your objection is to the inclusion of blogs? I was torn on that. I considered dropping aggregating blogs altogether, but then people expressed that they find that useful. One option I've considered is weighting traditional media more heavily so it's always in the lead (top row). Another option would be to move the blogs into the social media tracker somehow, since they really are more user-generated content, and reserve the news page for traditional media.
  24. Yep, that's what we'll do for now -- start to seed in references to Fighting Hawks. But it would just be silly not having some Fighting Hawks-related domains pre-purchased in preparation for a day when someone looking for UND athletics is more likely to look for Fighting Hawks than Sioux.
