  1. Though the GLI made it a LOT harder, quite a few chances About 1/6 of all possible remaining outcomes land the Sioux in the top 15 of PWR. It's clearly within UND's own destiny to determine if it lands in that sixth. Then there's always the conference tournament... If UND can turn it around in '09, I'll see them in D.C.
  2. Check out my post, Swept at the GLI -- How harmful to PWR? for my attempt to quantify the damage. Though the PairWise Predictor isn't finished and ready for public consumption yet, I think the results are good enough to post in aggregate like that.
  3. I had found those two in a previous search and jotted them down, and was coincidentally on while you were updating, so wanted to take the chance to use them...
  4. Happy Feast of Stephen (Dec. 26) 1282 -- WBB: Field goals attempted by Pam Solseth from 1976-80 (#5 all time record)
  5. Merry Christmas... [Dec. 25] 1283 -- FB: Regular season rushing yards by Phillip Moore in 1996 (#4 all time record) (me jumping in here is definitely going to confuse siouxmd who is undoubtedly feverishly searching for a 1283 )
  6. The pairwise comparisons used to seed the NCAA tournament are made once -- at the end of the conference tournaments. The page linked above (and quite a few others on the Internet that do the same thing) ranks teams based on what those comparisons would be if the season ended right now. I wrote this explanation of PWR a couple years ago (one thing that has changed is that TUCs are now the top 25 teams in RPI, not teams with RPIs over .500). College Hockey News has a much better, but also much longer, explanation of NCAA tournament seeding. Mimics the method.
  7. Your original point about the ticket sale policy is well-received, we thank you for bringing it to our attention, and we're discussing what to do about that in the future. However, please also stop badgering the original poster. I don't see him dishing anything out or shoes changing feet, but if this is related to some personal beef outside the forum, please leave it there.
  8. Sid the Kid breaks his scoring slump (or does he?)... Buffalo vs. Pittsburgh highlights I had to include the full game highlights to get the slo-mo replay. It's the last goal, game winner in OT, so you have to sit through about 3.5 mins of highlights. Lots of talk that it should've been a no-goal; looks like it was below the crossbar, or at least inconclusive, to me. I say goal.
  9. These guys claim that UND has 1287 part-time undergrads. source
  10. Traveling from North Dakota to D.C. for the 2009 Frozen Four? Be prepared to travel 1288 miles. D.C. to N.D. (Dec. 20)
  11. The Vancouver Canucks round 1 pick (#8 overall) was Jason Herter The Philadelphia Flyers round 2 pick (#33 overall) was Greg Johnson in the 89 NHL draft Herter marked UND's highest draft pick ever until the Blackhawks picked up Toews with a 3rd round pick in 2006. source (Dec. 19)
  12. If you want to catch UND athletics near Mesa, AZ, give R.T. O
  13. Holy cow. Just saw the score on gfherald.com and stopped by to make sure it had been posted. Women's basketball: UND 111, Mayville 27
  14. Nice to see that the budget is growing at the rate the consultants said would be needed for the transition. The numbers can always be made to reconcile at the end of the year, but I also haven't heard much yet about significant budget pressure (though haven't exactly had my ear to the ground, either).
  15. Though they've had pretty good coverage of my area for a year or two, they still don't actually have my apartment's street. They seem to have expunged the poor kid's embarrassment, but I remember last Spring when this was making the rounds on the tubes: Google Street View of kid falling off bike. Poor kid. More Fun with Street View
  16. Being in a remote, sparsely populated state no longer spares North Dakotans from having their homes viewable on the Internet. Street View: A year in review, and what's new New Street View coverage:
  17. Great! I find it really handy to be able to just go to the page and not have to dig through the discussion to see the current status. Not great
  18. No, you don't have to pay. But yes, it is unnecessarily complicated. After following this link (which is the most direct I can figure out how to link), you choose the Live Events tab and click the game. It often claims to be premium, but it's not. I've found that sometimes I need to login again in the left-hand media pane, or click play under the media pane to get it working.
  19. If you want to get in touch with the UND Bismarck Center, drop a note to: 1309 Schafer Street, PO Box 5587 Bismarck, ND 58506-5587
  20. NOV28 KNOX 1310 is a local talk radio station in Grand Forks that is often a good source of information about UND.
  21. NOV27 Volume 100, Issue 8 (August 1988) of the Geological Society of America Bulletin contained an article: "Sedimentology and paleohydrology of glacial-lake outburst deposits in southeastern Saskatchewan and northwestern North Dakota: Discussion and reply", for which one of the authors of Mark L Lord of the University of North Dakota Department of Geology and Geological Engineering on page 1311. No way, Jim, I wanna see for myself
  22. SiouxMD must be enjoying his Thanksgiving weekend NOV26 A sport that doesn't get a lot of fan love, in men's golf Mike Holm finished +13 and Patrick Thomas +12 in three rounds at the Erv Kaiser Invitational in Fargo on Sept. 19-21 this year. source
  23. Thanks guys! What a run -- 3 trips to the playoffs in 3 years in D-II. 4 smackdowns of Winona St. I won't mention the record vs. GVSU A winning first season of D-I football and first GWFC win. As others above said, thanks especially for mustering the win at the DakotaDome to cap UND's intro to D-I right!

    Wow

    1) You must not get out much 2) That's a bit of a straw man. No one was saying there shouldn't be criticism of coaches and players. Fans here, as anywhere, unapologetically praise teams that do well and criticize those that do poorly. The original poster was decrying personal attacks on players and their families, which we actually work pretty hard to prevent here. It's just not my personal style to criticize individual Sioux athletes on a public forum (as is true of some other posters but not others), but I certainly don't think it realistic to expect no one else to.
  25. UND volleyball fell 13-15 to Seattle University just last week to lose the match.
