Biden has said he will infuse cash into the postal service and end their retirement prefund mandate....Biden isn't trying to buy their vote or anything is he?

    Ok.

So it is the president's duty to get the Coney Barrett in. But it's his duty to get Covid relief done, only if he's re-elected. Makes perfect sense.

Word behind the scenes is the donor situation is much worse than has previously been posted on this board. NDSU is losing some major money over this. "Good riddance" they'll say, until NDSU has to start dropping sports and pulling scholarships of student athletes because they can't fund them.

This would be a problem at every major institution in the country, you can't allow NDSU football or any other athlete to make political statements, whether you agree or disagree.

Any word on what businesses are pulling their support?

As opposed to Democrats trying to buy it before the election.  What’s wrong with the $400 the republicans have on the table now?   Why do the dems consistently spread the message they want it to be higher?

So it's ok to stop working on this while he's still in office, but he has every right to get Coney Barrett into the Supreme Court?

On their own time and their own dime, support whatever cause they want to support.  Taking advantage of a platform, provided them by taxpayers/donors (scholarship/venue/etc), who don't always support the same beliefs, is not ok.

That's the difference.  They can be a social justice warrior, get the Herald to print stories about their causes, whatever.

Come Saturday, play the darn game, that's it.

Does it matter whose time it is on when they are using the program’s platform to further their agenda?

why are we even still talking "stimulus"...isn't it time for everyone to go back to work.......now?

Did someone say back to work?

trump just said, vote him back into office and he’ll get that stimulus passed. Not that he’s looking to buy your vote.

Interesting read and a very detailed history of the president's health over the decades/centuries and the lengths administrations have gone to keep things secret.

I can see the importance of keeping his health conditions private. They aren't holding onto his last negative test for HIPAA or security reasons though, and I think we can all understand that.

  7. Just now, Bison06 said:

That's incorrect. His last negative test is his health information and we don't have access to it as the public.

OK, so he's going to pull the HIPAA card on this single test?

And how many times has he stated he doesn't need to wear a mask because he just tested negative?

I guess this shouldn't shock anyone.

  8. 3 minutes ago, Bison06 said:

Because the president's health has never been something we have access to. We don't get to know. If this wasn't a global pandemic virus that Trump contracted and none of the other facts changed(hospitalization, meds, oxygen), the story our of the White House would have been the President was undergoing routine testing this weekend at Walter Reed.

His last negative test doesn't relate to his health so much as it relates to the health of others - at the rallies, fundraisers, debate, inside the White House, etc....

So they keep this a secret to not make the President look like such a d-bag.....at what cost?

Seriously, what more are you looking for? The color of his sputum, the consistency of his bowel movements? I'm absolutely amazed that they've shared as much information as they have.

I think the general public has a right to know due to the fact he'd been attending a number of events. We already know his judgement was bad for the New Jersey event. Was this also the case for the Minnesota events? How about the debate? Why keep it a secret if there's nothing to hide?

President Trump just twitted.   "I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"

Why won't the release the date of his last negative test?

See that is where your TDS kicks in.  You assume that anyone that doesn't buy all into Covid is out there walking up to old people in wheel chairs, pulling their mask off, and breathing on them.  Playing sports?  Yep.  Eating at buffets?  Yep.  Kids in school.and fully participating in activities?  Yep.  Going to bars during all but a couple hour window on Friday and Saturday nights?  Yep.  Not wearing a mask whenever possible?  Yep.  Dropping down to my knees and screaming when required to wear one?  Nope.  Quarantining for weeks because someone might have been in the same room as me for 15 minutes and 1 second instead of 14 minutes and 59 seconds?  Probably not.  Quarantining if a dart buddy gets it and we were near each other most of the evening?  Probably.

Fair enough. But still not wide open like you've touted.

Personally I choose to use my family doctor for all medical advice and would consult with him.  Then I would directly notify the people I had been around leading up to it.  As a matter of practice I don't give out my sensitive personal information (or that of my friends) including health history to college kids making $10 an hour over the phone with no real way of verifying they are who they say they are.

I always operate under the assumption that anyone I come in contact with could have it, and that I could be an asymptomatic carrier.  With how contagious it is, others should be doing the same and acting accordingly.  I avoid large crowds....I avoid settings with old and vulnerable people.....but I am not hunkering down until a 100% vaccine comes out.

Now this is NOT wide open.

With that said, it sounds like a responsible approach.

Kids in classrooms is probably the safest place they can be as it is a fairly controlled environment. What I was trying to say is that when the kids leave school all bets are off. Even if we assume kids won't suffer greatly when they're infected, they still are imminently capable of spreading the virus wherever they go and to whomever they come into contact.

One of my kids knows a family that has been exposed to the virus and been notified of that fact; I think they call that "close contact". That family did not get tested, and instead of quarantining as suggested, spent a weekend on the road, visiting neighboring communities and attractions. And on Monday morning they sent the kids to school.

If those kids are carrying the virus, they spread it all over southern North Dakota and northern South Dakota, at playgrounds, cafes, etc. And then went back to school and after school daycare, potentially spreading to yet another population.

Clearly this family is ignoring the risks (or just plain ignorant). They're acting selfish to say the least.

Students wearing masks in a classroom are helpful. However, many rural schools aren't requiring students to wear masks at lunch, in the hallways or at recess. Heck, one of my kids teaches in a district where the school board refused to mandate masks anywhere.

But if some families refuse to recognize the risk, or the benefit of limiting exposure after school and on weekends, the virus will continue to spread unchecked.

I don't want school kids to be infected. But I also don't want them turning into super spreaders simply because they are asymptomatic and their parents are foolish.

Your examples don't shock me, I mean look what our president did after he initially learned of his direct contact and then even after a positive test.

Question for the flop, what do you do when you are contacted by contact tracers?

This is where I can't get on board with the way people treat Trump as compared to other presidents. The POTUS is the most powerful person in the world. His health is a matter of national security and in many cases a matter that has massive international consequences. We are on a need to know basis as the public and I'm perfectly fine with that.

Fair enough on the international consequences. So why even release that he's gotten dexamethasone? The mixed message is what has everyone going.

So a cardiologist from UC San Francisco that has never had any medical involvement with Trump is the person you cited?  Once again, you do realize that as President you have some of the top doctors in the world at your disposal to treat you?  Weiss apparently didn't make the team.

I don't doubt that he has some of the world's top doctors. I do doubt the message they are portraying based on the treatments he's received and the answers they've refused to answer.

  16. 2 minutes ago, Bison06 said:

Serious question: are you upset that the president has gotten treatment that has improved his condition and is on track to be discharged today? What point are you trying to make by questioning his treatment and actions?

Not upset at all. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery. Is he on track to be discharged today?

What risks are you referring to?

It can suppress the immune system's activity, preventing your immune system from fighting off the virus if given too early.

    https://www.statnews.com/2020/10/04/trump-receiving-dexamethasone-steroid-usually-given-patients-with-severe-covid19/

Weiss said that Trump’s medical team had “an impossible job,” but that “you can’t say he’s fine and he’s going home tomorrow and by the way he’s getting dexamethasone, which was shown in [a clinical trial] to be helpful in only the sickest patients.”

Reserved? Dexamethasone is prescribed in a variety of illnesses. To act like the president isn't going to get a different protocol than the general public is naive. They were using the steroids prophylactically, his personal physician addressed this directly.

Let me get this straight. Its risks outweigh its benefits when used prophylactically for the general public, but that's not the case for the president?

  19. Just now, TheFlop said:

You honestly believe what you are saying?  You are equating his being discharged and going to the White House with a steroid prescription as a "hospitalization"?  Steroids are routinely prescribed to people (on an outpatient basis) that need that extra boost to their system i.e. people with asthma and other common conditions.

Actually you are painting yourself further into the TDS corner and you don't have much room yet.  If a simple steroid prescription is the most serious thing that Trump needed to get discharged......it shoots a massive hole in the hunker down in a bunker forever crowds narrative that avoiding society is the only cure to Covid.

Dexamethasone is generally reserved for severely ill covid19 patients dealing with inflammation. May be considered simple by Trump supporters though I guess.

Please don't bring up the CDC anymore. Again you cherry pick their "policies" to fit your narrative.

You do realize the NFL doesn't follow the CDC guidelines with their return  to play guidelines?

Is the nfl allowing players that have confirmed direct contact with positive cases to do as they will? How about after they test positive? This stinks of our president being a flat out d bag.

Considering the number of people that have died from covid and didn’t even get a chance to see their loved ones a final time because of isolation, trump’s trip out of Walter Reed yesterday says it all, once again.

Are you suggesting if he leaves, its merely to go to a different hospital?

And yes, believe it or not there is some privilege in being the President, like having people wait outside your hospital in support.

The TDS is strong with you.

He’ll get better hospital care at the White House than most would get in their local hospital. Call it a discharge if it makes you feel better but he’s on a steroid that is reserved for severe covid cases.

TDS eh? Wonder if he still wants to axe pre-existing condition protections after what he’ll be carrying along with him once he recovers.
