  1. Experience has shown here that if we don't win that one weekend in April it doesn't matter how things went the previous 24 weekends.
  2. 9 points by former Sioux last night in Hawks/Wild game, two of the winningest teams in the league. Hattie and two assists for Toews, a goal and two assists for Nick, and a goal for God. Decent showing.
  3. I don't think it is an excuse; it's a fact.
  4. They beat and tied them already on the road. CC is not the CC of last year.
  5. They are playing very well this period against the 5th ranked team.
  6. It seems like Boeser and Jost are both missing on high quality wristers we've come to assume would be goals.
  7. There you go. Ever since we started playing top teams, it was clear we don't have the horses to expect success like we've seen in the past. It doesn't mean the guys are lazy or don't care. If we get in the tourney, maybe something good will happen, but just don't count on it. And with the talent we lost from last year, nobody should be surprised.
  8. The boys have been playing a good forecheck and possession game. Can't say they aren't working hard.
  9. anyone listening to Tim? Lots of white noise now.
  10. Some very thoughtful posts by the usually erudite and informed Sioux fan base. The standard in the industry. My slightly more emotional take: MY MAN GORNALL v. the whole dam wmu team and anyone else they want to put out there
  11. You know what? With this team, I think this weekend is this weekend. They are capable of beating anybody, and that means anything can happen in the tournament, but I don't see them turning it on and becoming "that team." They just don't have the horses for that this year. I'm still optimistic, believe it or not. They can play with the best, and Cam is capable of a run.
  12. Can't be good for our PW.
  13. I can't think of Kalamazoo without thinking of Glenn Miller's song I've got a Gal. That's a confession.
  14. Well, Mafia and I live quite a bit closer to Michigan than you do, and the chances of being shamed in public by some drunk Spartan fan is that much greater. Could even come from the B1G fan who shall not be named on this thread, since he wanders around these parts now and then looking for friends.
  15. Completely agree. I like his game. With this qualifier. I'm not watching him in person, and you never get the whole picture watching whatever the cameras show you.
  16. After so many years in the league, Porter hasn't been up this year?
  17. Gophers don't use seats--they have little holes they poke their toothy heads out of when the first period is half over and disappear again after the third is half done. What they do down in those holes is not something I need to know, particularly if it has anything to do with procreation.
  18. How about a rink where we're not playing like, say, Mariucci?
  19. Money back guarantee?
  20. After a tornado or serious hail storm, there are roofers' trucks at every cafe and gas station. After a team struggles, there are hockey experts everywhere. It's amazing how many of us should be making a living coaching college hockey instead of wasting our time doing what we do.
  21. We got Deano off the payroll just in time, didn't we? If this is his last season and fans know it when he comes to town on Feb 24, it should be memorable recognition from fans. Doubt they will know, though.
  22. Good observations, Sic, as usual. I think Bowen always gives the team energy too. He's fast and he works very hard. When you don't see the game in person, it's hard to tell if the players are covering their assignments, but I like what I see on the screen.
  23. Winds tend to blow hot or cold around here, don't they? Actually, I thought the worst player in the history of the sport was LJ up until about this time last year.
  24. I don't think Brock has zero chemistry with his teammates. Ogie is right. Last year he had Nick and Caggiula, and they all made each other look good. I think Rocco would have flourished on that line too. It's true Brock sometimes dishes in ways his teammates don't anticipate. Like most high draft picks, the game is a little slower for him than it is for the average college player. He makes mistakes, and sometimes his D game is not where it should be (he played with a lot of intensity last night at both ends, I thought), but he can see the ice and make plays.
  25. They may be athletes, but it's the university, not just a hockey camp. Becoming socially aware and expressing themselves on political issues is part of the growth they are supposed to be experiencing. As long as it's done respectfully.
