I had cancelled by DirectTV sports package when UND signed the new TV deal. Now I can't get the hockey game, but I can get the UND women's basketball game vs. NAU in HD. Not exactly the same. Anyone else having problems with the audio stream?

OK, I'm an idiot. I couldn't find the game when it started, but its on 628 on DirectTV without the sports pack.

Watching Aaron Dell in goal tonight fot the Allentown Americans. He's wearing his Sioux mask. Too bad he doesn't playfor the Sundogs--we are losing.

ESPN3 shows a Sioux Jersy on it's homepage.

Got a call from a friend in Florida. He's blacked out as well on FSN. I can't find the game anywhere else on DIrectTV.

Is this on DirectTV? If so, does anyone have a channel #?

As long as I'm on a roll, I'll opine that a nickname is defined as "a familiar or shorter form of a proper name." As such, I think "UND" and "North Dakota" would each qualify as a nickname to the official name of the University of North Dakota.

Been there, done that. Very quickly everyone will stop saying "sundogs" and will just call your team the "dogs" and you'll have a dog mascot. PETA protests soon to follow!

Geographically, I'm closer to the Coyotes program than any of you and I haven't heard anything.

I think a Fighting Sioux v. Fighting Irish matchup would highlight the abitrary and illogical position of the NCAA. At the very least, ESPN should get someone from the NCAA on the air to explain why one nickname is acceptable and the other is not. No matter how polished an answer the NCAA provides, I think that most people would see the distinction as absurd. You can polish a turd as much as you want, but in the end, it's still a turd.

Since this will be the eight national championship for the Sioux, there really ought to be an "ESPN the Ocho" sign.
