Malone for Saturday night.

I don't recall ever calling security on you. You must have me mixed up with that short guy next to me.

So we can afford our high quality officiating crew?

It wouldn't be the Final Five if I couldn't look across the ice and see 01grad. That said, from my own personal selfish perspective I'm all for 2 games on Thursday and 2 on Friday, 1 on Saturday. I always felt like Thursday night's game was just a prelude to the big show. Then you have 1 big day, Friday. Saturday afternoon's game is kind of a 'bleh'. It's ok, but carries little of the emotion of the other games in the tournament. Then, of course, is the big showdown Saturday night. To have 2 very important games on Thursday, IMO, would significantly increase the drama of the tournament. With Saturday afternoon off, families from out of town could spend some time goofing off and doing whatever families want to do with some free time. I do totally get that it requires extra time from work and might be more difficult for some people to attend. I'm a little neutral given that angle. But from a sporting perspective only, I think the 2-2-1 idea is exactly the way to go.

VandeVelde on Friday Malone on Saturday

Hey, every one of us is as smart about the game as he is.

This is what I took from it too.

Seriously, do you remember 2001-02? I've been to Mariucci and been embarrassed at least 2 other times this decade. As for seasons, we've had worse this decade than we will this year. I can understand people being unhappy. I also expected more this weekend than what we got. But suddenly it seems the sky is falling. Funny how things have changed. As choyt3 said, Blais probably isn't being called on at GPL that much today, but suddenly he is at SS. This is how myths are created from legends. I love Blais, but he's not the only good coach out there. Someone else asked about whether Hakstol is a good motivator. I'll repeat what a former player told me, when I asked him a couple of years ago (after a dismal first half of the season) why I should be patient and be optimistic about the 2nd half. The talk involved Hakstol and his answer to me was "Because I know how good of a coach he is". After that season, and a Frozen Four run, I had to give him his credit because he was right. I'm not banking on a 2nd half surge like we've seen. Maybe we'll get it, maybe we won't. Even if by design, I'm sure it can't happen every year. But I've seen enough, and heard enough from people with first hand experience to know that Hakstol can get the job done. I'm not going to be pushing him off the cliff because of this weekend.

You're right! Last week, on good authority, I heard that an AA player said to a Denver player "The Sioux said you guys were a bunch of _ussies". And then a fight broke out.

Maybe he wants to play the lottery.

They are missing Barriball too.

I had to check, but it turns out this thread has the subject of "What's Wrong with Fighting Sioux". It needs to stay ON that subject, and off of politics. I think there's a thread in the community section for politics if you want to have that discussion (or IS there???) Anyway. Let's be done with politics in this thread and get back to it's regularly scheduled programming. I'll try to start things back up: "I don't see anything wrong with it."

Thank you. That doesn't mean I don't think the Sioux will have a nice run this year, I just don't like using past history as a predictor for future performance.

It's no different than political talk radio. Take what's convenient, twist it to your own interpretation (despite the facts) and pour it out to the masses who believe what they want to believe.

Barring injury, and based on my limited observations (and skills), I agree.

I can't quite tell. Is that Lucia, or Sonmor?

..where the Speez residence is located.

IF there were issues with attitude I'll be that got itself ironed out by now, on a rink out of our eyesight. It won't happen in the game tomorrow night.

As sprig says below, the CFB was really on Malone, and get this, Malone hit him with his back, actually probably his butt. Malone was turning around to head back toward the center of the ice and as he turned he hit the badger who was moving laterally along the boards. It was a questionable call IMO. Certainly wasn't on Hextall. I watched the replay about a dozen times and Hextall did nothing wrong. Totally agree about goaltending. It was 2-1 and a clearing shot came down into the Sioux zone early-mid 2nd period and Eidsness seemed to struggle with it. Right there I was ready to pull him. I'm not sure they were all his fault but I think 1-2 of those Gudmonson probably stopped tonite. We needed those stops. Sioux seemed to play 1 really good game this weekend. Unfortunately it was parts of both nights.

Well, at least they took a one goal lead and pushed it to two...

Lot of youth on this team. That might explain some of the issues of holding 2 goals leads in the WCHA (a man's league).
