Here's some 411 on Zajac from Hockey's Future http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect.php?pid=3999

How could I forget? I've been corrected on that one enough times. I have to wonder if Jake Taylor's deal was REALLY that good (to get an offer he couldn't refuse), or if he saw Lucia salivating over his incoming offensive defensemen (including the late gift Hagemo) and could read the writing on the wall.

Actually, it appears MN may be getting rid of forwards and d-men.

I agree pretty much with everything here. I maybe don't consider Vanek the difference between 5th or 6th and 1st but that's splitting hairs. All I remember is that Blais thought he had a rebuilding year in 2000 and won the national championship that season. The gophers always have enough talent to be scary. Most teams would like to have their "reloading" year.

Have you not read Hakstol's comments on the situation? He's made it very clear that Bo kept them informed from early in the summer what would transpire. Read The Sicatoka's post on this thread Hakstol's Comments

This was posted by Clayton Hoyt on the Ziggy thread but wanted to bring this quote over to this thread. Bo Gone For those who think Brandon left the team in a bad spot.......

We've been very fortunate not to suffer many injuries in our defensive corp last year. They could yet see plenty of time this season.

A friend sent me an email tonite saying he heard this discussion on the radio this morning in GF. I'm only repeating what he passed on to me... He said that Bo told the coaching staff PRIOR to Blais' departure that he'd be signing a contract. At a certain point in time that scholarship money was allocated to other players. The reason given was that according to NCAA rules at that time the money needs to be allocated, or LOST. If that is indeed what happened, it's easy to see how this situation transpired, with no fault to anyone. IF it is accurate, Bo told the coaches he would not be in their plans. Bo didn't get the offer he hoped for, but the situation didn't resolve itself in time for UND to leave his $$ on the table for him. Therefore, Bo ends up stuck. It was also speculated that Bo might be able to play overseas for a year and come back a free agent. Like Canuck said, we'll see how it transpires.

I can conjecture as well as the next guy. Blais told PCM that Bo was "likely to sign next week". Bo may have communicated as much to the coaches. Or more. He may have told them he was "gone". Blais could have used the "likely" just to soften the quote a touch. Who knows? So, what if Bo communicated to the coaches that he was gone, see ya? They could commit that money to other players. Then, what if Bo called back a few weeks later and said "um, I'm thinking I may be back?". What could Hak say? He couldn't take the money back from other players, could he? Is there also a chance that Bo may not have kept his academics in place to maintain his scholarship? Again, I don't know, but it is plausible. I have no clue what happened. I'm reading these posts and looking for a reason just like everyone else. But most are taking the point of view that somehow Hakstol is using poor judgement here. But we have no idea what the circumstances behind all this are. So I'm looking for a way that Hakstol may have been put into a bad position by the player, instead of the other way around. I mean, in Hakstol's first year as the head coach, do you not think he'd do what he could to keep a Hobey candidate on the team if he could? Come on.

That would ruin even the most hardy of souls!

I found the same thing. A 4-3 Sioux win in 2001-2002 where the Sioux came from behind but David didn't score. However, in 2000-2001 a 5-5 tie where David did score. Maybe he's mixing up his games. He only played in about 90 in his Sioux career, and throw in a near death experience and who could blame him if a detail was a bit scrambled.

I don't think it would be a matter of UND being "Hak'ed-Off" because Bo might sign a pro contract. Maybe Bochenski hasn't handled the situation well with the coaches at UND. I don't know, I'm only reading what Bacardio posted. Bacardio, to my recollection, has not had a history of coming on here and posting wacko stuff. The scenario he paints is plausible. I for one will see what comes of what he says before dismissing it out of hand.

You would, because you'd like nothing better than to see one of them "floating down the Red" so that some of your fellows could make up scenarios about how they were booted off the team by their ruthless coach. Yes, WPOS I know this doesn't necessarily include you.

Certainly you are not seriously concerned about this......

You know, I feel for the situation Coach Hill is trying to turn around up there, but I don't feel terribly badly for him in this situation. He had to know what he was getting in Fournier. He had to know what had transpired in GF before he left the team. I remember right after Fournier committed to UAA Hill said he'd be in the top line (or was it the top 2 lines). So the kid hadn't done a thing and Hill was promising him a prominant spot. I thought that was interesting, considering the commitment issues Fournier had in GF. I think Hill took a flyer on Fournier and it didn't work out. He knew what he was getting. If he was blind to it, or didn't investigate the situation, then he has no one to blame but himself.

A friend sent me this. Doesn't post but reads here. I asked if I could copy it here....

I heard Chucko commented on how much colder it was in GF than where he comes from when he visited last year. To the point the coaches were concerned the weather was a factor.

Maybe I'm just cruel but that's funny!

I have received as much insight into Sioux hockey by reading PCM's stories on USCHO as I have by reading the Herald. The Herald has more Sioux related articles so the volume is certainly better, but pound for pound, PCM's stuff is more significant, IMO.

Goepfert was a stud in the USHL. This could be a real boon to St. Cloud in a year if things work out well for him/them.
