One thing I would say is there were many of us fans who last fall were ripping on the "points of emphasis" because it disrupted the flow of the game. Seemed the WCHA started getting away from enforcing it about the time many of the teams started adapting. That said, I agree with everyone that there's a problem that needs to be fixed. PCM, do you suppose Blais would talk on the record now that he's out of the league? Maybe Sauer and Sertich too?

If you're going to win the big one, you have to beat the best anyway. Might as well beat them in the regionals.... With any luck BC will still be banged up next weekend (admittedly so are the Sioux). Since their guys appear to possibly be available next weekend, they most certainly should be by the Frozen Four. So if the Sioux can get by BU, maybe, just maybe, they'll catch a BC team that's still limping a little. I know, the Sioux are hurting too.

Sprig, you've mentioned a couple of times why you don't like Gwozdecky and I have no issue with your reasons. I agree with the point above. Regardless of what Gwoz coaches, if he's coaching the guys to do certain things, and penalties are not being called, why not keep coaching it? I'm not saying anyone has to like it though.

It appears to me coach forecheck needs to recruit some size.

Except Matt Greene may have had more ability to make decisions about his actions than Hirsch has right now. From what we know right now Tyler Hirsch may have some mental or personal problems beyond what he's able to manage. I can see ripping players for making bad personal decisions. But going after Hirsch now is in very bad form, IMO.

Leaving the X after Saturday's game I felt as good as if the Sioux had won the Final Five championship. I'm that impressed by their effort this weekend, and the way they have finished the season. What a great team to root for.

Radio feed's down. I can't get anything.

Look, I'm going to say something that's going to get me ripped but I will say it anyway. I don't know what Gwoz thinks of what went on. However, it IS possible that Gwoz didn't see what happened himself, therefore doesn't know how bad the hit was. He MAY have kept Paukovich off the ice for a while in order to let the whole situation simmer down for a bit before putting him back on the ice. Frankly, if the above suppositions are true, it's a pretty smart move. I'm only trying to put forth another explanation. We've all generally assumed what Gwoz's motivations were, but no one has put forth a different viewpoint to consider. So here's one.

You know, 01grad probably had a few too many barley-pops. He's never posted like this before. Why don't we let it lie?

Here's a quote from an article on INCH

We gave him the M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A chant!

Resend it, PCM.

What a great team we have to cheer for. This is a team we can really be proud to cheer for. What a gutty effort today. Sure, I always wish we would win but I don't even feel bad about today's game. The guys gave it everything, and it was almost enough. What Adam's problem is, I don't know. Got home and watched the tape and it's hard to figure why that was only 2 minutes. Mad Man, in watching Zajac's called-off goal I can see what you mean about the puck maybe being under his elbow. But in watching it a few times I became satisfied it was under his butt. But I could still be convinced it was farther back there.... Great job by Lammy. Great job by the players to play a clean game after the Bina hit. Our speculation was that Greene would take Paukovich to the woodshed. Who cares if he get's held out of tomorrow's game. But Greene didn't and that's ok. Frankly, Paukovich is one huge dude, and frankly he looks bigger and more solid than Greene. Which is probably why he acts like such a punk. He can get away with it. Bench minor to the Sioux fan sitting behing me who felt it necessary to tell me that I wouldn't call Paukovich a "cheap ass" player if he was standing in front of me (when I yelled at him to sit his cheap ass down). Duh. And I'm not bigger than Paukovich either, but I could be. But neither of those things was happening, so STFU. I've respected Gwoz in the past but if he keeps putting these kind of guys on the ice it's hard to do. I also noticed Paukovich didn't see any ice for a while until they needed him on special teams. I'm wondering if Gwoz felt it best to let the ice "cool down" for a while before putting him back out there. After Bina was taken off the ice, the players were coming back on the ice to take the faceoff and there was this loud "smash" you could here all over the arena. I missed it but my friend said Fuher smacked his stick against the glass on the penalty box, sending a little message Pauko's way. Personally I have little faith that the Sioux have enough left to do much this year. I fervently hoped they'd pull out today's game. I have no hope for a win tomorrow, and hope only for a respectable effort. And with losing Murray, Prpich and Bina I just don't know if we have the pieces to do any damage next weekend. That, and this weekend will have taken a physical and mental toll on the boys. I'm with others that thought forfeiting tomorrow's game would be a good idea. But as my friend pointed out, no way would the WCHA allow that (or the NCAA?). They'd want the gate receipts... So I say give Brandt the goal one last time, play everyone and their mother, and let the chips fall where they may. I'll be there to cheer them on. Get well, Robbie.

The only explanation we could come up with is he felt he was getting rid of some demons. That WAS bizarre.
-
If hey don't score during regulation, they can just stick Hirsch out there to flatten the goal by himself! It's much more entertaining than plain old overtime!
-
Then I hope you got a few pictures of Schneider from today's game!!
-
Many of us were praying for you when you were on the ice and will continue. Get well soon, Robbie.

Great team play by the Sioux tonite, I thought. Sure, it wasn't always pretty, and there were times that they struggled to clear the zone, or get much offensive flow going, but when one piece of the puzzle wasn't working, something else was. In the first, they converted on most of the opportunities. Maybe left a couple on the table. In the second, Parise shut the door when the D struggled. In the 3rd, though they couldn't get much offensive flow going, and had difficulty clearing the zone for long stretches, there weren't too many chances for the Badgers. Hope Prp is ok, but it doesn't sound good. I missed it, but from talking to others that saw it, and saw him try to come back on the ice for the next shift, and the fact he disappeared from the bench for the rest of the game, I'm not optimistic we'll see him on the ice tomorrow. No one has mentioned Smaby, and I think he deserves some recognition for what I think was a fantastic game. Physical and effective. Greene looked great to me. Jones was solid. We've talked about Genoway. Canady was excellent tonite. Massen was effective too. As a line the Horsemen were probably our 2nd best, at least 3rd best. Great job keeping Bucky on his heels. Of course, Parise. What can be said that hasn't been. He was fantastic. Zajac plays like an upperclassman. I continue to be very impressed watching him. Minor penalty to fatboy that was sitting just down from us. When we were yelling "Let's Go Sioux" I heard him say "Shut up, we're trying to watch the game". I was waiting for that to be directed more in our direction so I could inform him that I hadn't missed anything yet, even my toes. Nah, I wouldn't say that. Hard to explain the messed up glasses to the wife. Cudos to O1grad who got some face time on camera. Saw our resident stats expert. Was going to pick up a keychain but the local mafia guy was busy making deals on his cell phone. Maybe tomorrow.... jk deserves recognition for calling a Massen goal before game time. Way to go, jk! I'm sure PCM told you to say that, right?? What a great night...

Geez, that might have been the first shift of the game. I distinctly remember that hit, we were very close to it.
-
Genoway was fantastic tonite. He was SO pissed at getting called for a penalty he almost single handedly scored as soon as he got out of the box. He was a man possessed. He was excellent all around tonite. Great job Colby.

Sparky is not going to unseat Zajac or Stastny. I don't know enough of Pavelski to say. However, if Sparky isn't one of the top 3 rookie forwards, we know why the WCHA is the dominant league.

The adrenaline is pumping now. I'm leaving work. The Final Five can stay in the Cities forever as far as I'm concerned. I'm so glad I'll finally get to see my 2nd game live this year TONITE!! Go FIGHTING SIOUX!

It was always Guinness for me today. uglglgglgllgggglgllggglglglglgl

Yes, and while the Broadmoor trophy is nice it's not all that important. However, going down in history as the first team to accomplish such a feat would mean a whole lot more. Let's hope we take the first step tonite.
