I think the rule is if you play in a MJ game you lose 1 season of eligibility plus 1 game for every MJ game you played. If I remember Genoway sat 1 year plus 3 games?

Great game. I had to watch it on tape. Didn't know the outcome beforehand. Boston U did a great job of hassling the Sioux players trying to bring up the puck. Sioux just fantastic cycling, and taking advantage of their opportunities. Maybe all but one. How did Porter NOT get that shot off faster?? Such a great game by many players on the team. Hard to single anyone out. Was fun to hear the game called by Thorne and Clement. Hopefully the Sioux will have a chance to have them call more than one more game....

I think that was his point. I think he was saying that Paukovich, in this regard, may not be different than many other hockey players who would do the same thing, but we don't find out about it publicly. I didn't see any excuse-making for Paukovich in that post. Only a "those who throw stones...."

If WPoS was pointing at the Ferris game he picked a poor example. No way was that for sure. I think Ferris was probably the favorite. However, I took him to mean the Niagra game. Yes, that one surprised most people.

It started for me with the Friday night game in St. Cloud. The Horsemen seemed to be on a mission. Canady always plays hard, but you could sense something when that line was on the ice. Massen was smacking people and the whole line was effective. I've got to say, at the Final Five, any time that line came on the ice we knew the Sioux were in good shape for that shift. Amazing confidence swing. What could this line have done playing the whole season like this!!

Looks like both teams put up the same number of shots and give up about the same. The Sioux have a slight advantage in PP efficiency and in PK. Parise has better overall numbers but Curry can have outstanding games (3 shutouts in 11 games) so is capable of blanking teams. Looking at the how many guys on each team are scoring threats, and looking at scoring efficiency, I'd say the Sioux have the advantage offensively. That's exactly how I've felt about the year, and the end of the year to this point. The coaches, staff, and players have really battled through difficulties and have put something special together. I have a feeling it won't end tonite, though it could. I felt as good about the Final Five this year as if the boys had won the championship game. I'm proud of the team, and I'm proud to be a fan of THE FIGHTING SIOUX!

What a terribly written story. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Hirsch reported to be at yesterday's (Wed's) practice? And this story was posted yesterday? It appears to be using USHR's story as it's source. I'm wondering if this USCHO story has everything straight...My understanding was that the USHR story said he was hospitalized this weekend or early this week. Then it appeared that he was at practice yesterday, which would mean he's OUT of the hospital (if he was ever IN it). I'm thinking this USCHO article might be a little behind.

Like I said above, I think BC is probably the favored team. They have had a better year, though the Sioux have been coming on. BC appears that they will get their most important players back (Gionta, Eaves) whereas the Sioux will still be without Murray, and maybe Prpich. So yes, I think BC is the favorite. The Sioux have really played well down the stretch and right now, in a one-and-done game I believe they CAN beat anyone, because they have solid D and goaltending. Speaking of goaltending. JP Parise is a sieve. However, Jordan Parise is currently the #1 guy. If he can continue the solid play of the last many games, the Sioux have a chance in every game, even with a hamstrung offense.

Mory, I can understand where you are coming from with your point though I won't agree with your conclusion. Here's how I look at it. I saw parts of the Denver series in Grand Forks on TV. Paukovich stood out to me as a jerk. Chippy, edgy. Cheap. Arrogant. That doesn't necessarily mean anything. I mean, we've got Prpich. However, it was no surprise at all to me that the guy who put Bina down last Friday was Paukovich. I'm not aware of a situation where Prpich ever put anyone in danger like this. For one thing, I don't think he can hit that hard. Now this information comes to light. What the whole picture tells me is this guy IS difficult (impossible?) to control. For his own pleasure he WILL hurt others. From what I know, anyway, Prpich is NOTHING like this guy. Not a good M.O., IMO.
