That's one of the dangers of trying to read into why a kid makes a certain decision. What factors we think make sense aren't always priorities for them.

I've been there recently and just when the crowd seemed to want to get started some loud rock and roll would get blared, and everything would die down. A band in the background doesn't prevent you from talking to your neighbor about that great play, and allows the atmosphere to develop. One or 2 songs, like Welcome to the Jungle can be used to hype the crowd, but 80% of the stuff does nothing to help the atmosphere, just fills time, IMO.

For bonus points, I think he also scored the very last goal of that season as well.

Unfortunately they still have the WCHA title to play for on Friday night, at the least.

Motzko was in the paper saying something to the affect that they pretty much CAN'T lose a #1 seed regardless of what happens to them from here on out. Maybe some of that MN "meaningless game" magic will still be with him....

If there's a year where a team could finish 4th in the WCHA and AVOID the play-in game at the Final Five, this could be it. There seems enough strength in the lower teams that an upset of a home team is a distinct possibility. Obviously this assumes UND even makes it as they could be a victim as well as any other. Certainly I'm no fan of playing Mankato again this year.

I think Kozek played on one of the top lines earlier this season. I know he was in the Friday night game at Mankato, and the next night was rightfully demoted to a lower line because he just didn't do anything to help his line. Next night he had some time and space and potted 2 pucks. I like Kozek and I too was thinking this was going to be a big year for him, but with my limited hockey knowledge, it seems to me he just doesn't seem to do much with the puck when he has it. He can shoot and he can hit but doesn't seem to get himself into open space where he can receive a pass or control and pass the puck in a way that helps his linemates very much.
