-Smaby was never a great defensmen, unless great means coughing the puck up in the nuetral zone frequently or having a tough time transistioning. Generally coachs are sad when a player gets called up to the next level, in his case as in finleys future case they probably helped him pack his bags. -Phil didn't have a chance on either of the goals I saw (McCuluchs or Hillen's), but 4 goals is still weak. Atleast it wasn't to anchorage or all in the same period. -keys to success- Radke Alot more ice time. Vande Velde, Toews, Porter, Duncan, Oshie, Bina, Jones, Chorney more ice time. Kozek , Watkins less ice time. Kiap much much less ice time. Finley no ice time. Everyone else neutral.

What does that have anything to do with it? Why does his age matter? Where hes from doesn't matter. Hes 17 so what. Maybe he shouldn't have came in so early if he is so young.

-Finley was one of the best on the team during the second half last year? I'm going to have to disagree. His lack of footspeed and poor puck handling skills are a huge liability. He probably shouldn't dress agianst teams like minnesota or maine (teams with good team speed). That isn't to say he can't be valuable agianst some of the bigger and slower teams. -Grieco has been shaky but shown potential. -In my opinion I would have Radke or Genoway quarterbacking the first PP. They are much more skilled with the puck and seem to make better offensive decisions. I think Powerplays are offense first. Radke is BY FAR the most offensively talented defenseman on the team. - Lastly, whoever is knocking hakstol is a tool.

I think they will keep it to just seniors. -
Isn't it awesome on how one game can define a team's performance over a good deal of time? I mean, after we lost to Maine that Friday, it's pretty easy to determine that our team is overrated and isn't going to win more than 10 games this entire season. The MTU game proves that UAA is beatable and capable of having a bad game. Other than that, I wouldn't put it past any team to be able to beat any other team on any given day if the right circumstances exist. That happened against us last weekend. It happened to Minnesota a number of times last season. Please, let's try to look at the big picture not just a game here or there.

Well if you mean by difficult to score on, letting in 9 goals to Michigan Tech a couple weeks ago. Then yes they are tough to score on.
-
You are thinking of Cygan and/or Zaprazan. I'm not saying small players NEVER pan out and with the new rules you never know but personally I think players with more size usually have a big advantage (p.s NOT joe finley type players) . I guess we will see. Side note few players on the tops of the NHL scoring list this year under 6'1. I would agree though with the new rules helping players with more mobility.
-
ERRR! I'm all about giving the little guys a shot but they rarely seem to pan out. Note: I didn't say never... I said rarely.

I might be a couple months late but is Trupp seriously 150 pounds or was that a misprint?

Injunction cause of low attendance?
Lives-to-play-hockey-06 replied to dead_rabbit's topic in Football
No that would be due to suspect goaltending and poor offensive out-put. -
Taken by Mankato. The sioux were to busy trying to get in a 17 year old as soon as possible to notice the best goalie in minnesota last year. Somthing tells me UND could have won that recruiting battle.
-
So because he is a teenager he deserves to be able to play worse then everyone else? I'm missing the logic of why he should play just because he is 17. Age shouldn't have anything to do with it. The best player should play flat out.

ONE of GOONS briliant posts: "Second, Grieco is comparable to Lamoreaux, look at the stats, they don't lie. fact is he is a Junior Goalie and not reliable. Grieco is a just as good as Lammy and he has made more saves and has played less miuntes, which probably mean in my opinion that the defense has been horrible and that they probably have been killing a lot of penatlies. Tony won against MSU-M a win is a win. " Alright goon here are the stats again... .## Goaltending (Overall) | GP Minutes GA Saves Shots Save% GAA 1 Philippe Lamoureux JR | 6 356:21 15 134 149 .899 2.53 31 Anthony Grieco FR | 6 325:52 20 146 166 .880 3.68 30 Aaron Walski SO | 1 35:47 1 11 12 .917 1.68 Now that you've said stats don't lie. HAK shouldn't need any other reason to start someone else. but I do see what your saying, I mean it's not like greico lets in over a goal more a game than Phil or anything like that. I'm adding your quote of "stats don't lie" to my profile.
-
1.USHL not NAHL (lincoln stars) 2.oh hell Walski played better in the same game, but greico gets shelled consistently but lets start him again because hes 17 and he is not from North Dakota. 3. Let's start a "keep greico in until he let's in 8 goals in less then 5 periods to Alaska anchorage then give the next guy a chance who happens to be from north dakota" Thread.
-
Youre right they don't lie here they are ....... .## Goaltending (Overall) | GP Minutes GA Saves Shots Save% GAA 1 Philippe Lamoureux JR | 6 356:21 15 134 149 .899 2.53 31 Anthony Grieco FR | 6 325:52 20 146 166 .880 3.68 30 Aaron Walski SO | 1 35:47 1 11 12 .917 1.68

I also trust the coaching staff to put someone in net that isn't going to let in 17 goals in less then 11 periods against mankato and alaska anchorage, but I guess sometimes we shouldn't be so trusting.
-
O Maine as in the Number 1 team in the country? you mean he looked bad against them. Who if you were a gambling man would you say should score more goals on UND, A. Maine the best team in the country B. A !@#!$ team in Mankato C. A shittier team in Alaska Anchorage. Tough question? shouldn't be. Spin it all you want but to say greico is even comparable to lamoreaux is a flat out joke.
-
I think people are throwing him under the bus because they are sick of seeing him getting lit up by bad teams. I mean whats it going to take to for hak to sit this cat down? what does he have to let in 8 goals in less then 5 periods against anchorage? Or let in 9 in two games against mankato? He played well agianst ST.Cloud only letting in 3 goals in two games I give him that. These teams the sioux have been playing are brutal mankato hadn't scored that many since they were playing d3 and anchorage hasn't scored this many ever. I mean whats it going to take a few more beat downs to brutal teams. I mean whats next letting in 7 to ferris state? Enough is enough, give anybody else a chance it is time. It's not that people think walksi is the savior it's that they think greico has proven now for the fourth time in 6 games that he is a liability what I think what people are saying is it couldn't be much worse then grecio. By the way I'm trying to figure where lamaroux was ever playing as poorly as grecio?
-
I see what your saying its just I said two weeks ago that he was inconsistent. Then the people that are sending in his hobey vote come back and try to get him early entry into the Hall of fame. Pretty much what I've been saying is as a sioux fan I think UND has a better chance to be successful with Walski in there. Greico has played five games.he let's in 5 and 4 to MSU mankato 1 and 2 to SCSU and now 4 in one period agianst Anchorage. What I'm saying is this is far from a murders row of teams. Walski hasn't been tested either and could be just as big of a bust but as of right now they need to go to someone new because greico is only seventeen and doesn't appear to have it this year. Letting in 13 goals in 7 periods agianst agrueably the two worst teams in the wcha is not what is going to get the sioux back to the NCAA final four. I guess I'm in the group that says I don't care what your age is if you get torched in three out of five games agianst below average competition the team needs to shut you down for the year. I didn't wait till he lost either I've voiced this concern for two weeks or so.
-
I'm not usaully one to bring up dead points but I just couldn't resist. The Walski over Greico band wagon is starting to form.
