So Arizona State enters D-1 hockey tonight. First game is against club team and bitter rival (and perhaps the next entrant into D-1 hockey?) University of Arizona. Link to webcast: http://pac-12.com/live/arizona-state-university

Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton Conversation
farce poobah replied to UND-FB-FAN's topic in NCAA News
Here's more random speculation ... It could just be that Fullerton decided to visit Fargo and Grand Forks while the weather is nice, instead of making the trek in , say, January. -
I tried again and got the game started ... (no audio and no score but hey ... its free)

I was thinking that too...

(apologies for a repost ... but it fits the thread) The University of North Dakota adopted the nickname RoughRiders in 2015 to honor the brave men and women who serve in our military. They epitomize bravery in action, discipline, strength of character, overcoming adversity and winning battles. They protect our freedom and defend our way of life. Please use good sportsmanship as you cheer your team to victory tonight.

Halfway through the 4th, EWU and UNI tied at 28. Very entertaining game. EDIT: UNI With the win 38-35.

@NOTSportsCenter has a great take on the game. "With the win, Auburn shows they are a clear favorite for the FCS title."

Does a dominated goal differential lead to championships?

I have no numbers to back this up, but i would expect a higher correlation of Cups / Titles to Goals Allowed. Defense wins championships. -
University of North Dakota Hockey 2015-16 season
farce poobah replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Ever since 3x3 was legislated out of the normal run of play, I have missed it. (Rules changes designed to prevent the team trailing from getting the benefit of 3x3 ... etc etc) I have some fabulous memories of 3x3 play including a Dec 1981 goal James Patrick scored to win it in Minnesota. Best birthday present ever. I think its a good step forward. if it means fewer shootouts all the better. -
Good catch ... serves me right for not doing a fact check. I am guessing we have a lot of guys in juniors as well. (Fuher at Penticton...)

Great topic ... it all comes of recruiting leaders. Certainly a lot of possible additions: Rick Zombo, Lindenwood. The high school list could get pretty long ... off the top of mind ... Jim Archibald is putting Brainerd High on the map. Tyler Palmiscno added some hardware to the east side. David Marvin is at Warroad coaching the girls team.

For those flying out to UVM: 1. The primary carrier into Burlington is United. Primary connections are via Chicago or Newark. More flight choices than other airlines. 2. Delta does have service, typically connecting through Detroit, but beware connections through LaGuardia. Caveat emptor; vulnerable to delays for even the slightest weather. Or, recently, labor slowdowns. 3. If you don't mind the drive, flying into Manchester (Southwest has dragged down fares into MHT) and a rental car may be the cheapest. Unless you live at an SWA hub, a connecting flight is also a necessity. Depending on the weather, you may be in for some beautiful fall colors.

There are lots of scenarios, but they all involve Gru and his Minions.

For the first time this year, Tiger Woods got to play a major on the weekend. -
This hardly qualifies as a moment, but Looking at the standings and Pairwise every December and still thinking we were going to end up #1. He really REALLY built an aura around the second half of season and especially in March.

Matt Shaw must be great. He beat the Hrkac Circus while playing at US International. (I still can't BELIEVE we lost to a bunch of surfer dudes.)

Why was Syracuse retweeting this .... Hmmm. -
This NEEDS a caption.

You wouldn't like my bedtime stories. They all involve the Blackhawks skating rings around the Red Wings.

If I go for a long shot, Toronto at 66-1 would be my pick. * Great respect for Mike Babcock. * I think they figure out the locker room chemistry. * And there's a lot of talent there.
