Yale's good hard 3-man forecheck is creating chances. We need to be better with the puck, moving it faster, and consistently clearing the zone. We've seen this before; the question is whether we adapt.
For the first time since the Panzer era, I see a UND team in the NCAA's with jump and great legs. We've won most of the little battles and gotten to loose pucks first all weekend.
This is a good omen.
For the first time in a decade of NCAA play, we had great legs - and I do mean great legs - in the 3rd period.
Losing last Thursday had some benefits today.
Will see how Denver does ... they have had two full weeks without game action.
Let's not forget about The Hockey Academy.
That might be a better fit with a transition from hectic full-time coaching, and a quiet well-deserved, hard-earned retirement.
P.S. And doing analyst commentary on UND hockey broadcasts.
Right up there with Tom Philion scoring on senior night at the old Ralph.
Yeah, I have a soft spot for guys who work their butts off and don't get the recognition.
Thanks, Tater.
UND's 2nd goal Kristo to Simpson - illustrates just how much Danny Kristo has matured. He's always been tenacious on the puck, always had great acceleration, but in the last 2 seasons he's also developed a superb vision of the ice, and a great passer.
Seeing those guys still doing that makes me all nostalgic for the DOT line.
It also reminds me how it was that Duncan scored 14 goals on 28 shots (50%!!!) during a stretch in spring of that season. A great scorer paired with two guys that create space.
Woot!
Chris Porter making his season debut tonight for the Blues. One of the most powerful and efficient skating strides I've seen in a UND jersey these many years.
