  1. Anyone else notice that the phrase, "we were fortunate that..." came up a lot in the post game interviews from Hak, TH and Lammy? Although it wasn't the quite the game we would like to see, it ended the right way. And I think that's a good sign. Last year at this time we probably would have dumped this game or maybe ended up with a tie. A good sign of a maturing hockey team, even when you play like $hit, you have the depth and character to come out with a win. The really great part of this game is the off lines scoring goals EARLY in the season. It was great to have Vandevelde turn it on at the end of last year, but it's really great to see Trupp, Watkins, Miller, etc. getting on the board early in the season. And althought Frattin didn't score, that kid's got skills, he played a really solid 2 way game. Get a case of Pepto and some adult diapers and get the guys back to G.F. Great character win. Lammy a man amoungst boys out there!
  2. Anyone heard for sure if the Saturday night game will be on the CSTV webcast? I didn't see it on their TV schedule. And if I remember right, last year the Comcast Cable website out of Boston was broadcasting the games for free. Anybody found anything with them? Thanks for the help!!
  3. Senser's is always really great about putting them up if you give them the sattelite dish configuration. I ordered the CSTV package last year, well worth the $3.50, so I will watch the Friday night game at home. I'd call the Senser's folks and check with them. Along with the usual locations there is now a new Senser's in the west suburbs in Plymouth. Give them a call at: 763-559-1990. It's located off of Highway 55 and 24, west of interstate 494, south side of the road. The seating configuration isn't as good as the others, but it's about a 8 minute drive from my house so I'm willing to make the sacrifice. Let us know what you come up with.
  4. I'm not sure if this has been talked about yet this year, but if it has I missed it and have not read reference to what I will call for now, our "Band of Brothers". The group of Juniors that made a pact with one another to come back home for 1 more season because they have unfinished business - a National Championship. Last years D.O.T. line name was pure genious, hell, even the booger and mozako called them the D.O.T. line during the broadcasts of the games. I think it would be great for the members of this board to come up with a name that is fitting of the committment that these young men made to our school, to each other and to the legacy of Fighting Sioux Hockey. A D.O.T. type of name might not work because you don't want to leave anyone out and you would never want to minimize any contribution by a player large or small. That said, we all know it's basically Oshie, Duncan, Chorney and Finley that made the pact. So what do you think loyal supports and key plunkers of the greatest sports website in internet history? What name will the siouxsports.com faithful come up with that will make national news and media coverage?? From our basements and office cubicles to the sports world. I'll start off with the topic title "College Hockey's Band of Brothers" or "The Fighting Sioux Band of Brothers". Both are a little wordy and some might see it as a slight to those war vets, but after watching and reading about these young men, I think the comparison is fair and they are of the same quality and fibre of men.
  5. I completely agree with AZSIOUX, he is a major loss to that line and to the goofs. Even though hirsch had his problems off ice, you can look at the stat sheets and see Okposo's goals completely fall of the face of the earth once hirsch wasn't there to feed him those amazing passes. Okposo was still a great WCHA player last year, no doubt about it, but his WCHA MVP chances went out the door with hirsch (not that he really had a chance against Duncs, but one has to make the point). One guy can make a difference, especially on a young team like the goofs. We'll never really know with stoa because this injury was so early in the season. And, yes, the goofs have the depth to put a guy up there to score some goals and feed the other 2 guys, but it just won't be the same. Watching WCHA hockey (or college hockey in general) evolve over the last 10 or 15 years one thing keeps coming to mind for me is that experience is the common bond on championship teams. With kids coming in from all over and leaving after a year or two for the big show, the more time they spend playing together and under the rules of the league, the better the chances your team has to win a National Championship. And if you have a group like our guys (we need a name for the group of juniors that came back this year) who commit to their team, their school and each other - well, you are bound to make history. Like winning an 8th National Championship, ANOTHER Hobey Baker winner and a half dozen All Americans from your team. All in all, just another year in books if you play hockey for the Fighting Sioux from North Dakota.
  6. Looks like the Goofer Nation will need to do some re-shuffling on their top line before they even play a WCHA game. Stoa went down with a season ending knee injury on Saturday night. Hate to see a kid on any team with that kind of major set back. I went to the Friday night game against RPI (the ticket was free and it was college hockey) he looked good on that top line. He had developed a Blake Wheeler style of play in front of the net, worked well with Okposo. Hope he makes a solid recovery. The link: http://www.startribune.com/gophers/story/1486461.html
  7. And, I'm assuming you will be able to watch it on the naked lady machine (your computer hooked up to the internet) with the "new and IMPROVED" webcast. I'll believe that when I see it, or should I say, IF I see it. How many times in the past did a guy (or gal) get all excited for the big game, grab a barley pop (or 8) sit down at the computer, log on and....there's no f'in picture!! I really, REALLY hope they have all of the bugs worked out this season. It was ok as a freebie last year, it better be worth the $$$ this season. Sorry for the rant.
  8. Not sure if this was posted yet, just out in the Boston Herald today. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/hockey/...ticleid=1035223 Very cool story on Bochenski. Sad thing is he's probably going to have to play with the player that I will not refer to on this site. You know, old one nut.
  9. Great post! Thanks for the schedule. Looks like the week of Oct. 5, 6, 7 will be great for watching some of the Sioux prospects and a lot of talented WCHA players-to-be. Living in Maple Grove it will be about a 10 minute drive to watch some great hockey! Hockey in the morning football in the afternoon. Nice little Saturday planned.
  10. I am going to try the impossible, run the gauntlet of Goofer fans trying to ruin my "virgin viewing" of the game at 10:00 PM. I have heard from a few local (here in TC) Sioux fans that Sensor's is planning on playing the games live. I'm being called into work so I am driving home with the radio OFF and will not answer any phone calls from known antagonists. We'll see how well it works.
  11. YES!!!!! There is a god and as we all knew - he is a Fighting Sioux hockey fan!!
  12. Think St. Clown is re-thinking that "throw away" game last Saturday night? Nice to see them have to play 3 to make it in now, wear them down even a little bit more can help.
  13. Yup, don't play down to their bottom feeder level. Get your win and move on to the X. Buuuut, if Finley were to line him up I can't promise you I would look away.
  14. I just tried listen too and it was down. Oh, well, I won't bitch anymore, they got the feed up and running.
  15. Jutting should just be run out of hockey for the rest of his worthless $hitbag career. What a bunch of dam baboons!!
  16. Worries me that Tormey is looking pretty dam good tonight. Really standing on his head.
  17. Yup, that was one he really should have called. You just know Radke is now huntin'.......
  18. For as long as he has been out, Martens is really looking solid tonight. Right time of the season to start pouring it on.
  19. Landcow takes a shot at Lammy and knocks him back into the net. Ass!
  20. Absolutely! What a joke! Cause everyone knows what a goon Duncan is.
  21. No kidding, I was at that Saturday night game, horribly boring.
  22. Don't like to see Tormey look that good on that last save at the end of the period. We don't need him getting his legs back under him against us this weekend. That was the freakiest thing, watching him skate to the bench, blood dripping every where and his hand just dangling. He is dam lucky to still be playing.
  23. See that, Landcow tried to kick whoever that was that was down on the ice. Chorney standing up with the attitude, something else that was missing in the first half of the season.
