  1. Nick Pierre decommits from Wisconsin. Just another example of early recruits not being set in stone. Don’t know if this was based on Wisconsin recruiting more players or Pierre reevaluating where he wants to play.
  2. Some of the people that think we are loaded questioned whether we could get home ice last year, and that we lacked talent. It’s probably never as good as fans perceive, nor never as bad as they perceive. It’s nice to have expectations but with all of the elements that come together on very special teams, it’s probably best to not get too high without seeing if some of those team variables are coming together like team chemistry, freshmen making the perceived impact, and maybe more importantly the other classes taking their games to the next level.
  3. If only our other programs could get to the point where you could consider something a choke. Wait for it ....
  4. We saw how that worked on the move to Division 1. Shouldn't have to learn that lesson twice.
  5. This is one of those weekends where UND has a chance to keep their fans engaged, or start their minds trending towards a "here we go again" thought process. Let's keep momentum and mindset going in a positive direction.
  6. If only we could be more like Fargo, which wants to be more like Minneapolis. Judging by the shootings and other crime, they are making progress. If only we could see such progress.
  7. Agree, we figured it would be packed with only poor seats available, and getting there early always gave an alternative in the past by standing on the catwalk.
  8. Just curious, is there anywhere you can stand and watch the game anymore?
  9. As we saw from St. Cloud last year, nothing is a given. The pieces are there, but they still need to have done their work over the summer, and chemistry is always huge in the scheme of things. I think bringing back Hain and Senden gives us a good start at maintaining the ethic that needs to be a constant. You can bet a few losses early in the year will have people jumping off the ledge, as that was the case last year with a team almost starting over. Freshmen still have a learning curve, but if they can contribute, I like the returning guys and the transfers to fill in any gaps until they figure it out on both ends.
  10. Which is why I believe Minnesota was very good last year and should be again this year, especially on the back end. Remember how guys like Johnson, LaCombe etc. got taken to the woodshed by UND in their own building on Thanksgiving a few years back. Well those guys have matured into smart veteran defensemen. Minnesota wasn't a ton better last year because of guys like Lucius and Broz, but because they had a back end that was very formidable. Not only that, Minnesota has a lot more guys willing to step in front of a rocket shot, which hasn't always been the case.
  11. To that end, is that skilled draft pick just super talented, or does he have the grit to boot. I certainly can see some guys that are high draft picks that have one foot in the NHL wanting no part of a collision that could end in injury and jeopardize how soon they play at the next level. Hopefully Kleven gives Cooley, etc. pause on digging in the corner when they meet Minnesota this year.
  12. My least favorite take on Sioux Sports is the people who complain about our lack of talent and even after winning a league title continue to complain. "Enjoy the season".
  13. …and let’s be honest, except for Covid they probably wouldn’t have had Power, Johnson and possibly a few others. I would have liked our chances to get a lot further if Sanderson had stayed healthy.
  14. “Titles are all that matter, screw good seasons when you cant win it all! I had enough of that in college. The season gets boring when you consistently choke when it mattersmost.” So you have different standards?
  15. Did a lot of good things today, but regardless of what happened today, ultimately this team will be judged on what happens in the rest of the games this season.
  16. I assume you mean for us, as many have pointed out how bad Nebraska is.
  17. A team like that, NDSU and SDSU beat. Three touchdown loss and it seems people are ecstatic. Plenty of chances to make a statement, but didn’t make the big plays.
  18. Looking at his stats, he has a better save percentage than any returning goalie in the NCHC that has enough games to meet criteria. I find it funny that many have high expectations for freshmen coming in and are putting some of them high up in the lineup, but a goalie that has played quite a bit is a big concern. Not saying either is a given, but there seems to be some inequity in the thought process.
  19. So you're saying they are using UND to develop and get to the next level? They have an option in hockey to go to Major Junior to get paid, but many want to get at least a start on their career after hockey.
  20. On the positive side, should Nebraska lose this game, there will be plenty of Nebraska fans cheering for us, so Frost will get fired.
  21. A little less harsh, “Corns o.k., but it’s UND that’s a-maize-ing! I know, lame, but so are a lot of things that go together with the Cornhuskers.
