Nope, game will be every year when its scheduled. As far as your question I don't know what Faison will have to give. Maybe just giving Taylor a little more time is enough. I just think Taylor has too big of an ego to just field the phone call and say "oh, thats what you want and when you want it. Ok, lets do it". If it was up to Faison, the game would have been scheduled yesterday. UND is definately ready to play and this would have been a perfect year to play the bison.

Talyor will have to and here are my thoughts on why: 1) Both will have to give a little bit. Niether will get exactly what they want. 2) Both have put together pretty good schedule's for the next couple of years. I have no doubt Faison can't put together a schedule for 2011 that looks just as nice as 2010(which I really like by the way.) 3) UND obviously has a tougher time filling thier schedule as they have more games to schedule since they are in a smaller conference. This also benifits them as NDSU seems to take the Montana route and try to schedule cupcakes for non-conference the last few years since the Missouri Valley is a very tough conference. Gotta get a few wins. UND definately is not a cupcake. 4) Taylor can no longer use his old excuses. The nickname will soon be resolved, plus the baseball game. The transition is almost over. People don't really care about ndsu's transition and UND not scheduling them, even though at the time it would have hurt playoff chances to do so. Now that time is up on these excuses he can no longer avoid UND. All the advantages, mainly marketing and head to head recruiting will be gone the second the game is scheduled. When UND wins, Taylor and Bohl (if he is still around) can kiss those goodbye and things will be similar to the end of DII days. Taylor knows this and thats why he's avoiding the game but even bison fans are getting restless for the game so his strong stance against UND and ndsu's motto of "anyone, anywhere" will be viewed as bull$%!# if he doesn't schedule it. People want the game and will start to see right through him and his excuses. They already easily could if the media pushed hard enough and he was ever asked the right questions. Every state has their major rivalry games and North Dakotans don't expect theirs to be any different. For this reason, Taylor blinks first but Faison gives a little to help him out.

Awesome breakdown. Nice work. Things look good for next year and it looks like it will again be a very competitive league next year. Impressive that a pretty young Cal Poly team was able to beat SDSU.
-
Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

This is fun to hear. I am glad the coaches had patience with these freshmen and knew that even though they would be able to help this year, we are looking long term. And kudos to the freshmen for having to patience to wait it out. I am confident the coahces will have another solid year recruiting this year as we already have what sounds like two very good verbals and I'm sure quite a few offers out there to other players to join the underclassmen as we build for the future.
-
I'd say that position change worked out pretty well for him.
-
Good news. Good size and looks like he moves well. Welcome Ekenna.

And there will still be the same amount of D1 playoff games played by both teams during your time frame. You could compare the same time frame with NDSU and your new rival SDSU and well we know that they have proven how a team did 5 years ago really doesn't matter. ndsu has proven that as well. All that matters is right now and right now neither team is very good. Yours is 1-7 though so I don't really know why you think you can try and talk any smack at all. Plus you haven't met your prereq from earlier about having to be competetive in the MVC.
-
Well if competing in the MVC is a prereq for talking smack I don't think you have any right to talk. I think there is a difference between competing and just showing up, which is all the bison have done so far in the MVC.
-
He won rookei of the year his first year. Not a bad start to a career.
-
I forgot how these rules work for bison fans. Smack is only acceptable if it is bison fans making fun of the Sioux. If it goes the other direction than it is lack of class. Thanks for clearing that up for us.

That would be because a lot of our upper classmen where recruited to play DII. The 3-4 is an effective defense. It has its strengths and weaknesses just like all defenses. More pro teams are switching to it so it must be alright. It is a complex defense though and I think we need to give some of our younger guys time to learn it and get comfortable with it. Our health right now isn't helping either but hopefully we continue to develop some depth. I know teams have a hard time in preparation for blocking a 3 man front so I personally like the defense. We do need to improve across the defense though which was made very clear yesterday.

Thats great to see. Looks good, especially the logo on the bottom left.

More Standing Rock election news Could we be so lucky to not even have His Horse is Thuder on the ballet in Sept.?
-
Wes Atkinson, Tony Hermes, Tom Irvin (pre-injury). I'm not even sure Stroup was in the top ten. Thats not bad though considering there have been some very good ones to wear the uniform.

Last time I checked injuries happen. I wonder if either one of those teams you lost to had injuries to key players when you played them or how many teams you beat during the year that where missing key players. I just think its funny that you think injuries only happen to your team and thats the only reason you lost those games. The fact that Youngstown ran the same play against your defense all game and you couldn't stop it or the picks thrown against Wyoming probably had just as much to do with it. Just my thoughts though. Gotta love excuses.
-
But you didn't. Gotta love excuses. Every team in football has injuries, deal with them, don't make excuses of them.
-
I can't say enough how impressed I am with the coaches. They have recruited well and brought in some transfers in the spots they may need immediate help or depth (OL, WR, LB, DB). I think we really have something to be excited about this year and in the coming years.
-
I think they got thier hands full in Fargo just trying to keep up with thier football team in the beat report. They might try and use this to take the light off thier own guys though.
-
I have no problem with you and am glad you post over here. For the most part a lot of bison fans bring good conversation to the board and add to discussion but I know your post was only to take shots at UND and its program. If you where paying any sort of compliment I guess I missed it.
-
What happens if Oct. 1st comes and the name is retired? Than Mr. Murphey gets elected, the tribe works with UND and Spirit Lake and they decide that they will allow UND to keep the nickname. Could the Fighting Sioux nickname pull a Brett Favre and come out of retirement? Its a serious question. If they retire the nickname do you suppose there is any hope of them getting everything worked out and bringing it back before they chose a new nickname?

What was NDSU's attendance for thier last playoff game in the dome? What do you expect? We hosted playoff almost yearly since 2001 when the Alerus opened and kicked the !@#$ out of Winona St. for a couple years before that. Most fans aren't going to make the drive to see it again when the game is on statewide TV. 6000 wasn't great but that was 6000 more fans than the Fargodome has seen for a playoff game, if you don't count the North Dakota high school playoffs I guess.

Thats what gets me excited is the amount of talent that is there. I heard good things about these guys when they where redshirt freshmen and was very impressed by them during the spring game. I just never took the time to look at the depth chart. The offense will be alright but I think it is good for our young defense to go through a season where the hat may be hung on them a little bit while the offense gels.
-
Is anyone else excited about how young our defense is? I knew they where young but there is going to be a lot of sophmores and Rfr. getting some good minutes this season. That gets me excited about the future. I'd rather take a few lumps with sophs and freshman than with seniors. I just have to tip my hat to the coaches again for a great last few seasons of recruiting. Keep them coming!!
-
Offense is going to be an unknown. A lot of first time starters. Defense is going to be pretty solid. I am really excited about the Sioux Defense. They are young and they are talented. I was impressed with the 2-3 deep in some postions at the spring game. The defensive line is starting to gain back a lot of depth, the linebackers are athletic, and I can't say enough about the secondary. This could be like some years past where the defense can carry the offense. And the best part is the defense is young. 7-8 wins is very doable for this young team.
