  1. Actually Tsunami meets a lot of people's wishes on this board It's not a person or animal It's unique It's fierce Other UND sports teams (besides hockey) would be ok with it (i.e Suhaki) It's totally opposite Sioux (a native local person vs. an event that happens thousands of miles away) And yet it has ties to North Dakota (Ok, just the "Tsu" part)
  2. Game on Charter channel 14 in st cloud
  3. Amazing how one man's garbage is another man's treasures. I was thinking that Nokota's was my least favorite until I heard Roughnecks. This should be an interesting process. However, I don't see the interest in Roughnecks. (from Wikipedia--Roughneck (or ruffneck) is a slang term for an unskilled or slightly-skilled labourer). In honor of the Red Pepper. The University of North Dakota Grinders. It is suppertime!
  4. Ok, I'll bite. Why Canisius?
  5. Usually during the frozen four I can find a team to cheer for or at least there is a team I could cheer against. I'm curious what people would consider their "FF nightmare." In other words, the FF ends up with 4 teams you would normally cheer against or would have a hard time cheering for. My FF nightmare would be: BC Minnesota Denver Michigan. Not that this would be a bad FF, but I wouldn't know what to do!
  6. If we can't obtain all 3 Sioux tribes' approval (for 30 years) then we are required to change the name. Does the NCAA say we must change the name and logo or can we just change the name and keep the logo? What if UND would get approval from the Turtle Mountain reservation to use the name Chippewa for 30 years or more, why can't we do that? Or, what about a generic name like "Warriors"? The administration and/or SBOHE would probably like to get rid of anything that relates to the use of Native American names and/or imagery. But if they were o.k. with a 30 year agreement from the Sioux tribes, why would they not be o.k. with a 30 year agreement with Turtle Mountain? I'm not saying that Turtle Mountain would agree to it, but if they did, could this be an option? Does the NCAA explicity state we cannot change the name to a different tribe's name? I'm asking this as a serious question. I'm tired of the whole name thing and would like resolution to it also one way or another. I understand that not changing the logo would probably keep this battle going on forever. But, ignoring all the negative arguments for keeping the logo, is using Chippewa an option if the Turtle Mountain tribe approved it based on the stipulations set forth by the NCAA?
  7. What was blocked?
  8. It seems the best chance we had was with the Protection of University Governance Act of 2006 when Bush was president and both houses of congress were controlled by the Republicans. Too bad they didn't weigh in on the subject
  9. I guess this is a case of be careful what I wish for. I was happy to see certain teams not make it to the FF because I am not a big fan of theirs. However, the way it looks I am going to watch a group of teams I am neutral about. If it goes the way I think it will the FF will have BU, Vermont, Miami, and Cornell. (Nobody I really want to see win, but nobody that totally bothers me. OK, I can cheer against BU and Cornell). I was hoping for at least one team I would want to see there but UND, UMD, AFA, are all gone. I guess it's go BSU!!
  10. I haven't gotten one game right yet and I picked Notre Dame to win it all. So that doesn't look too good for the Irish.
  11. I know and no Gophers!! I am going to the FF regardless of who is in it. I wasn't assuming the Sioux would make it. If they do, that would be great. I'm just glad that certain teams (DU, UM, UM, BC) won't be there. The way things are going, it may be a very interesting FF, with the usual names not being there.
  12. All I know is that without Denver and Michigan in the Frozen Four, I am going to enjoy DC so much more Go Sioux!!
  13. Yale wins. I thought that would help the Gophers. But looking at USCHO PWR, the Gophers are in essence now at 15. The Sioux dropped to 7th. (3 way tie for 5th, but lower in RPI than NE and Yale.) It keeps getting more interesting. AZSIOUX--that PWR predictor is too newfangled for me. I have to wait for results
  14. Yale scores 2 within 30 seconds with less than a minute and a half to go. Lead 4-3. 38 seconds left. Gophers are alive

  16. I sure hope it's not the calvary! It would be embarrassing to have the UND fans not be able to spell our new nickname. I mean Souix was so easy to spell. Seriously though, put me in the very anti-Cavalry camp.
  17. Oh man, thanks for the laugh, that's funny!! I can't get the visual of that out of my head
  18. Notre Dame was in the WCHA from 1971 to 1981 so they played at the old Ralph most of those years. Due to scheduling they didn't play there every year however. More recently they also played a series at the old ralph in 1998-99.
  19. How did you "run" in Brooklyn's? I kinda just got pushed along!! Anyway, it was fun cheering for Notre Dame and especially to see the excitement of their fans. Thanks Amanda for the nice letter!
  20. oops. Sorry, I forgot to post that I do have tickets. Thanks to all. Go Sioux.
  21. I have 1 ticket and will sell for face value $164 plus shipping (I paid $17). It is lower bowl, Row 1. I have ticket in hand, received it yesterday.
  22. LadyDy: I didn't get them either!!! We were the 2 that posted first, so I thought you got them.
  23. Actually, my e-mail came from Janet Rusty. So that made me feel a lot safer.
