  1. Amen bother. Let them fade into history if that's what they want. Change it.
  2. Next year it comes to Grand Forks
  3. Thanks guys What this young team accomplished is nothing short of amazing to many, but not to Fighting Sioux fans. We are the #1 program in college hockey and greatness is what we expect and is what our players delivered. We as fans are all proud to be part of this program and are behind our players 100%. We know you will outwork everyone else until next year and play like UND Fighting Sioux again next season. We want #8 and know you will do everything you can to bring it home. Guys, thanks for the ride and work hard and do us proud next year.

    Hrkac

I was at Joe Louis Arena when we beat Mich State for the National Championship. Hrkac was amazing that game and I remember how a move at center ice took the air out of the crowd. He beat a check, slipped the puck past the defenseman and did some kind of skip, hop, pirouette thing that let him go unchallenged to the net. The move was so good I can't even remember if he scored. But I do remember a Mich St fan in front of me saying "Oh my".
  5. Here's a conspiracy theory article from The Wisconsin State Journal http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/bad....php?ntid=78397 Here's one on the BC backup goalie http://bulletin.gmnews.com/news/2006/0330/Sports/037.html
  6. Do they make Fighting Sioux halter tops and bikini tops? We need a couple of serious hotties in the crowd so ESPN can use them as the opening and parting shots after and before the commercials. btw, I don't qualify.
  7. The NCAA will never take on the Fighting Irish and their money and power. I have to believe there is a way of making a complaint against the Fighting Irish name and mascot that the NCAA can't ignore, forcing them to look for a way out on the entire issue. Any lawyers here?
  8. Drop the name and go with no name at all. It fixes several problems. 1. We are telling the NCAA to stick it while getting out of our problem 2. We are telling the offended Sioux, "Here, take your name back, we'll see you in the history books" 3. Lets the new name evolve or allows us to keep the name. The fans will stick with "Sioux" at first and maybe forever, but maybe not. We'll figure something out. We may never take an official name or it might be several years before one grows on us. 4. Taking a new name immediately is just nasty-cheesy, and if we change, it must have some relevence to North Dakotans; and Gold, Sundogs, or names fashioned after natural disasters or verbs doesn't do that. We'll hate an embarassing name like that. North Stars, Roughriders, Berserkers, Norsemen, Norse etc at least have some sense of identity but please don't let some suites in a back room pick it out of desperation. 5. It allows our new motto as suggested here: "We Are North Dakota And We Are Here To Kick Your A$$"
  9. Agree, there's always tickets available outside at good prices, last year I paid well below face for all the games, I got all the tickets before I even parked the car. If I'd waited I could have done even better. I'm driving 9 hours without tickets in hand and I'm not worried about it. Being flexible helps, meaning if you are holding out for 4 together you will have a harder time than 2 doubles. Singles are outright cheap. If you want tickets in the UND corner you'll have to be more creative though, it's tough to get them exactly where you want them. Knowing where our school block is located and an arena chart will make that a lot easier. You might be able to move after the start and get close to our section. Get in the car and go, drive safely and let's bring the biggest crowd.
  10. I think Brand has lost so many of these that he's targeted UND as his 'must win'. We can either pay some goodwill $ to the Sioux tribe to get an endorsement or we'd need thousands of Irish heritage types demand the NCAA take on Notre Dame for their drunken stereotyped fighting Leprechuan. Brand/NCAA will NEVER dare go toe-to-toe with Notre Dame (notice they weren't included in the original ruling). Much better to drop the whole matter, letting little ol' UND off the hook than take on a fight with the big boys they're better off not winning.
  11. Always easy to get outside the arena in the past. Good prices too. I've never had trouble traveling empty handed and getting good reasonably priced tickets within minutes in the lots. I plan on doing the same this year.
  12. I haven't been able to see any live games until the WCHA tourney, so it's been internet feeds all season. Chorney had a not-so-good game tonight. Typical or aberration?
  13. The two side stripes were added after skunks found the original insulting.
  14. This is a set up for an all time legend maker for HC and we had better bring the A+ game and put this fire out. If you are attending, get over there and do your part.
  15. Last night it was heaven for Holy Cross. UND is the greates hockey venue on the planet. Radio said the crowd was rocking.... Holy Cross goalie Tony Quesada was asked what he will remember most about his team's stunning 4-3 overtime victory against Minnesota. "I think the eruption of the crowd, really," referring to the pro-UND crowd that was pulling for the Crusaders to upset the Gophers. "We're not used to playing in front of this many people. And to do it here, and beat the Gophers in the Sweet 16, there's nothing better." "We completely expect them to go back to their Fighting Sioux," he said of UND fans. "To have them cheer for us tonight was a big thrill, and it helped us out."
  16. He's rough, real rough, he needs 2-3 more years of college experience
  17. lol, as I was reading your post he has an amazing assist
  18. The story is already taking backseat to a HS basketball game and women's hockey. http://www.startribune.com/
  19. The school teacher somewhere in Ohio set him to the side for one pic as a joke and it's become one of the most popular on sports blogs this past year. Mega props to her.
  20. Yep, no love there at all, the yellow skunk stripe helmets alone are enough to make you say ughh, there's just something about the logo "UM" that's just plain contentious, regardless of which school uses it. The bottoms of the urinals at Ohio Stadium have UM stickers. Check out the photo attached to my name to see how friends don't let friends support Michigan.
  21. click the link and turn on the speakers. I do like the "Go Sioux" idea in place of "OH" and "IO" http://www.xanga.com/the_wolverine
