Every one of SSM games last year in the AAA Midget tournament were at the main rink. The other games were played at Purpur Arena.

Those are some tough shoes to fill.

But they still count as games right? Last season Red River played in four scrimmages in Warroad. Should those be counted on their overall record for last season?

How many games in the past two state tournaments have the West teams won? Last time I checked, the East is 8-0. Sounds like the West's spots in the state tournament are being "wasted" to me.

So your saying that the coaching staff had no clue that Parise was going to sign? They brought Grieco in because they were told from Parise himself that he was going to sign a pro contract and that the Sioux were going to need a third goaltender.

Good game between Winona State and UND on September 16? Wasn't it supposed to be a good game last year when the Sioux went down there? The Sioux ended up pound the Warriors by like 45 points. I expect even worse this year with this being the home opener for the Sioux and also Potato Bowl.

I've grown up in Grand Forks my whole life and played hockey with many of the Lamoureux boys. Phil is a very solid goaltender who just hasn't had a shot to play for the Sioux. People also have to remember that Jordan Parise is one of the best goaltenders in Fighting Sioux hockey history and it will be a tough act to follow. Phil was unbelievable when he played for Grand Forks Central and was one of the top three goalies in the USHL when he played in Lincoln. He will keep the Sioux in every game that they need to be in. Last season he had a fairly decent GAA but in games when he would give up one or two goals, the Sioux would lose 1-0, 2-1, etc. I expect a very good season out of Phil and the rest of the Sioux.

Although I agree 100% on those two points, at least he isn't transferring to Central or Red River. How many times have those two schools used players who transferred from other towns to lead their hockey teams to state titles? Perhaps this is yet another sign that the torch is in the process of being passed. South are not the undisputed kings of North Dakota high school hockey yet, but give it a little more time and they just might be.

Tyrell Mcbain from Hazen is transferring to Fargo South for the 2006-2007 season. Should be interesting to see how he does in the East with some tougher competition.

Parise can't sign with anyone until July 1, but he did say he would take any deal that he could get.

Jake Marto is staying in Omaha next season and will play for the Lancers. He has been told from many different sources that he should stay and play another year. I'm sure that Michael Forney will play in the USHL and come to UND for the 2007-08 season. I heard from a very reliable source that said Stafford injured his MCL. The damage can not get any worse, but it depends on the pain he can endure. The swelling is still there, causing an MRI to be delayed for a couple of days. Hopefully Brad Miller can fill in for Drew and help the team keep up their winning ways.
