Yeah, last years team was really fun to watch, especially in the first half of the season. It just looked like they were really enjoying the games. Losing to those a-holes from Ann Arbor...not so much.
Watched tonight's game with my Dad who is not a hockey guru by any means. He was asking me why North Dakota looked so good in the first but was having trouble getting the puck out of their own end after that. I had to go with the Hennessy answer that "the other team is trying too" but it seemed like we really struggled to keep up the intensity to be able to go play offense for long stretches in the second and third period.
What the hell happened? Swanson was on the first line in the first and they were generating chances. Then the second starts and Omac is out with Berg and Perron. Swanson needs to be with some skill guys that can keep up.
Western really put the clamps on Sioux for stretches; we couldn't get the puck out of our own zone. I swear both their goals came from bad turnovers trying to clear the zone. The capper was getting the power play at the end and then giving it right back. Maybe UND deserved a better fate, but it seems the margin of error is pretty slim to start with...even more so against a quality opponent.
