  1. For some reason, this really struck me as funny.
  2. Hard to believe it's been that long. A friend of mine, who was (and still is) on the Hobey committee at the time, said he was the best player in the country as a freshman. Guess he knew what he was talking about.
  3. No wonder you like the Dead Wings so much.
  4. That's a gear? I always thought it was a puck...
  5. He's taking over for Brad at the Heraldo until this whole budget cut thingy blows over. jk...
  6. According to hockey db, Toews played 42 games as a frosh (05-06), and 34 as a sophomore (06-07). Duncan won the Hobey in 2006-07.
  7. Congrats? or my condolences? for passing 20,000 posts.
  8. IIRC, Toews had just turned 17 when he arrived on campus for his freshman year. Pretty impressive for such a young player. Wasn't he hurt part of his first year? Or was that the next year when Duncan won the Hobey? ("Best player in the country? I'm not even the best player on my line.")
  9. Correct....although I thought maybe he gave it up at some point during the year so he could focus more on his goaltending duties. EDIT: Looks like I should have hit Refresh before posting this. You guys are all over it.
  10. UND...that's the one in Fargo, right?
  11. Well I did see some banners hanging this morning...
  12. Going to set off a small explosion in the back of his breezers?
  13. Jost allegedly signed a lease as well and he's long gone...
  14. Here's the link to today's conversation between Dan Barreiro (KFAN) and GF Herald reporter Brad. The segment starts just after the 1:43 mark. http://kfan.iheart.com/media/play/27718224/
  15. You didn't go to UND's bball camp with Dave Gunther? I'm trying to think of the name of the former Sioux guard that was teaching one of the ball handling stations...wouldhave been mid-80s...Ray Jones ring a bell with anyone?
  16. Listened to this...not much new information...Brad said attendance was around 850 this past year and that the program lost $1.3m. Talked a bit about history of the program and went on a bit about all the Olympians past and present that have played at UND. Some discussion about Title IX implications; Brad said that the U had hired a firm to make sure this was thoroughly researched and that there were no issues. It was not mentioned that UND was hyper or over compliant towards women's sports. Discussed that the UND president had distanced himself from the cuts somewhat; that he told the AD to make the cuts and they were the AD's decision. Honestly, he seemed pretty bummed out I'm sure there will be a podcast of this at some point if you want to listen to it yourself...probably by tomorrow.
  17. That should be a fun and fact-filled conversation. Any chance Tom Miller could join in?
  18. These guys were definitely playing their own instruments...well maybe not.
  19. I knew it!
  20. As did these gals...(Vixen)
  21. Vixens? You mean like these gals?
  22. Fixed your post.
  23. Here you go... http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=49717 Played parts of 5 seasons with Carolina...most of the time spent in the minors.
  24. So are all the Women's Hockey underclassmen eligible to go to other programs? I'm guessing they would not be subject to the same transfer rules (waiting a year) due to the program dissolving.
