  1. The Forum needs to sell newspapers so they will continue to cover SU sports quite well but probably not at the level they have in the past!
  2. The article talks about RBs Sutton and Murray "and kids coming into the program next year". I am a little surprised (and disappointed) that there was no mention of Binns. I had hoped he was going to be another stud at RB!
  3. Heck, there are people calling for Mac's head in Ames after a 4-12 Big 12 record and a losing season overall so I doubt he would be seriously considered for the Iowa job. That being said, I am sure the Mac will get that program turned around!
  4. Thanks, Marlin.... We might as well get this thread going. We won't move names to Wiki until the lists get longer. 2011 Offers S Trae Waynes 6', 180, Kenosha (Bradshaw), WS Has offer from NDSU
  5. There is a very good chance that he did not know this back in October!
  6. Obviously, there has been a great deal of deserved concern about the men's BB program and our ability to compete at the D1 level. The team certainly played poorly early this season. It appears they have been playing better of late but still a long ways from being a respectable D1 team. This is not too surprising this early in the transition. Losing Bledsoe's scoring and Mertens' tenacity will be difficult to replace so immediate help will be necessary for next year. The two recruits signed in November seem to be having good senior seasons: Troy Huff, the 6'4" shooting guard (who also often plays the point) from Milwaukee's Brookfield Academy, is averaging 24.9 points through 15 games. The team is 12-3 for the seaon and leading their conference. Aaron Anderson, the 5'10" point guard from Osseo, is averaging 10 points per game for his 15-3 team. They lead the competitive Northwest Suburban Conference in the Cities. I don't know his true scoring ability as he plays on a very balanced team - Anderson leads the team with his 10 point average. I couldn't find assist and steal stats but understand he is a great ball handler and leader. I would guess both these kids will play next year rather than redshirt but that is truly a guess. Of course, Schuler and Brekke will play next year. Schuler has great credentials but I have no idea how good he may be or how soon he will contribute. (Has anyone seen him practice?) I would guess Brekke needs another year or so before he contributes - I hope I am wrong! Archer was making good progress so I hope he fully recovers from his knee injury. With one scholarship remaining, it will be interesting to see what type of player we bring in. I assume that all underclassmen will be back next year but there could be a casualty, allowing us to bring in another recruit. The nice thing about basketball is that with a couple of studs surrounded by a bunch of reasonably good players, we can have a respectable team very quickly! Hopefully, that will happen!
  7. If everyone would just ignore MplsBison, this message board would be much enjoyable and I think the blood pressure level of many UND fans would be greatly reduced. There is absolutely no upside in debating any of these issues with him. Please ignore him!

    2010 Season

It is interesting to see that Seth Nichols won the Offensive Scout Team Award and Lundeen the Defensive Award. You didn't hear too much about them (especially Lundeen) during the year. It would be great if Lundeen was a contributor next fall. Offensive scout: Seth Nichols Defensive scout: Brock Lundeen Offensive lineman: Kyle Bondy Offensive back: Mitch Sutton Receiver: Ryan Konrath Defensive lineman: Ty Boyle Linebacker: Curtis Dublanko Defensive back: Joel Schwenzfeier Most improved: Dublanko Special teams player: Brandon Hellevang Offensive player: Sutton Defensive player: Dublanko Ira Frendberg: Konrath Dan Martinsen-Kremeier captain award: Andrew Miller,Marcus Tibesar, Ryan Kasowski, Jake Landry
  9. It is interesting to note that Bledsoe scored 28 points and only made one "3" (his only attempt). As noted above, he did a heck of a job driving to the basket. By the way, cpa guy - thanks for your insight!!
  10. Tom - I met your dad a few times - he was a gentleman, yet a fun guy who truly loved UND and UND athletics. He did a tremendous amount of good for the University with his time, his money and his influence. UND (and the world) needs more guys like your dad! Don't be disappointed by the number of responses you receive. This forum is not the most-read and, it being over the holidays, I think a lot of regulars have not been visiting this site in recent days! Mark - keep looking out for UND's best interests. I know you still have a lot of influence up there!!!
  11. That is a great schedule - home and away!!!
  12. I believe I am correct that the demolition cost quoted a year or so ago was just over $1 million.
  13. This is outstanding news - in many different ways, most importantly: -- It will allow many of our teams to be much better prepared and, ultimately, more successful. -- It should assist tremendously in football recruiting as well all the other sports utilizing the facility. It will certainly help offset the weather factor that helps athletes decide to attend college someplace warmer! -- It will finally provide our track & field teams a facility that will allow us to be competitive. Even in DI, there are some athletes that want to participate in both track and another sport (usually football) so this should help us land a multi-sport athlete once in a while. -- With many of our teams struggling right now, it gives all of us fans and boosters something to be excited about. We can not afford to lose fans and/or contributors during these difficult times we are experiencing during the transition, .
  14. It sure sounds like she is the "real deal" - we could use her right now!!!
  15. I don't know if there should have or could have been others on this list but a few observations: I am glad to see a couple of OL on the list (I hope Nelson is putting on a bunch of pounds). Had hoped to see Hoerchner and/or Doehling and/or Field. Having a couple of WRs listed is good but does anyone know anything more about Chris Roach? Was he a red-shirt freshman or a transfer? With his being the Scout Team player of the week 2-3 times, I would have thought he would have been mentioned. With our having concern about LB talent, it is good to see three youngsters. I had thought there might be four listed - Otto being the 4th. Disappointed not to see any DL - was hoping that Lundeen and/or Stanchik would have been listed. I was also surprised that RB Binns wasn't listed. I hope Miller was an oversight because he is a kicker. He came in with great HS stats - I hope he can fill Hellevang's shoes right away!
  16. Costigan just received an offer from UW - I would guess there is a good chance he will be playing in madison next year! 18. Is that a promise - that we won't hear from you again until 2212? If so, we thank you very much!!!
  19. You are correct - I forgot to date that. I edited my pst above. Thx I agree - there will likely be recruits in town this weekend! I hope the weather is decent for two reasons: 1) there have been times when kids have not been able to get to GF due to weather problems and we weren't able to reschedule them. Bottom line - we didn't get the opportunity to sign these kids. 2) For recruits coming from warmer climates or even other parts of the plains where the winters aren't quite as harsh, we sure don't need below zero temps or a snowstorm happening while they are in town - not a good first impression!
  20. Surprising that Vraa would win Mr. Football over Henderson, the No. 1 college prospect in the country! That being said, I would love to see Vraa playing for the Sioux!
