  3. I call BS. Even if this were true, you have a gobc member on the committee and another individual who's desperate to join the gobc on the committee. Your choice could have very easily been added once it was found out that it wasn't there. I think you were just scared to submit it.
  4. Correct...Fort Frances, Ontario.
  5. Man, that made me laugh!!!
  6. No question Babcock is a good coach. But how much better is he than any other NHL coach? Teams talk themselves into who the 'biggest prize' is out there, and then fall all over themselves to land that prize. Much like Niskanen last year - a year when there weren't many good FA defensemen available, so Niskanen was the big prize and Washington ended up signing him to a crazy 7 year, $40.25M contract for an average defenseman. Babcock has won 1 Stanley Cup with the Red Wings and took the Ducks and Red Wings each to the Finals once. The Mighty Ducks team that he took to the Finals wasn't loaded with big names, but keep in mind, the Red Wings teams have had guys like Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Fransen, Holmstrom, Rafalski and Hossa. And let's not forget (and maybe more importantly) they also had the sandpaper and leadership from guys like Maltby, McCarty, Draper, etc...let's just say these teams have been well put together...by Ken Holland. So it's safe to say that Babcock stepped into a pretty nice situation 10 years ago, and has 1 cup and 1 Finals loss to show for it. You're telling me he's that much better than Joel Quenneville, Claude Julien, Daryl Sutter, Ken Hitchcock, Peter Laviolette, Alain Vigneault, Jon Cooper, Barry Trotz, Dan Bylsma (who's not even coaching now)...and on and on and on? What makes a coach great? How about this year's darling, Michel Therrien? Montreal finished the year with the 2nd highest point total in the NHL with 110 points. Is Therrien all of a sudden the best coach in the history of the world? You know why they finished that high? Carey Price. Show me a coach that has the luxury of coaching a good lineup - goalie being the most important piece - and I'll show you a "great coach". Oh well...good for Toronto. I see that with the new leadership in place in Brenden Shanahan, it's the same old same old in Toronto. Overpaying for talent like the NY Yankees with 1 major difference - the Yankees win every once in a while.
  7. Mike Babcock is going to the Maple Leafs after they handed him an 8 year, $50M contract. THAT IS INSANE!!! Par for the course for the Leafs, I guess. Have fun rotting in Toronto, Babcock.
  8. Question for those that want Hrkac, as his name has been thrown out by a few posters now. It shows that in 2 years of coaching at Concordia University Wisconsin, his record is 4-33-3. He may or may not be a good coach, but I'm wondering if people just want him for his name and how good of a player he was, or do you think/know that he's a good coach for some reason?
  9. Updated as of the morning of Tuesday, May 19th. Sicatoka - you had Red Sox at 61 yesterday because of his goalie, but I have his goalie being Dubnyk. Do your numbers match these? 81 - Ray77 64 - The Sicatoka 62 - UND-RedSox fan 57 - MafiaMan 47 - andtheHomeoftheSIOUX!! 47 - jimdahl 40 - fight on sioux
  10. One team does. From memory I want to say it's fight on sioux.
  11. Ha...that's funny. I heard TH's comment at the end and thought "You ass kisser!"
  12. From the Herald article: "They came at him about three weeks ago," Berry said, saying that Hakstol repeatedly turned down the Flyers job until finally accepting the position. Hakstol leaves UND to coach Flyers; Berry named next head coach
  13. I didn't take it this way. I thought they said that Hextall came after Hakstol 3 times. He's only been the GM in Philly for 1 year. The year before that he was assistant GM and before that he was with the LA Kings, so he wouldn't have been after Hakstol the past 2 or 3 years, right? I understood it that they'd been in contact for a few weeks and it took 3 times for Hextall to get Hakstol to accept the job...that he turned it down twice. Maybe I'm mistaken though?
  14. Hak's gone and it's Berry's show now. If Hak doesn't make it in the NHL, he isn't going to just come back and reclaim his old job. Much like when Blais left, it was Hak's show and when things went south for Blais in the NHL he didn't come back. Wouldn't be fair to Berry to have that hanging over his head.
  15. I would guess the pot was sweetened a bit dollar-wise. I doubt that Hakstol coming out of a college program would gain much in the way of power.
  16. The Flyers very well may go 79-3 next year...but you know who those 3 losses will come from!
  17. Ol' gfhockey has been swinging and missing quite a bit lately. Has me really doubting the authenticity of the GOBC.
  18. What does? Is it PJ Stock's shirt or Doug MacLean's glasses?
  19. Who is this Eric Fuher that you speak of?
