  1. Haven't missed a series in Omaha yet. There were quite a few Sioux fans in attendance, although maybe not as many as when Omaha played at Century Link arena (and especially for the outdoor game a few years ago). The UNO fans still thank us for coming, even after Saturday night. Plenty of parking in the area around the arena as well as bars and restaurants. DJ's Dugout by Century Link used to be the place to go for Sioux fans, now the DJ's Dugout by the Arena is packed both before and after the game. For the first time ever, Al's bus stayed in a hotel by Baxter Arena. There is plenty to see and do in Omaha. US Air Force museum about 20 miles west of Omaha on I-80, Hollywood Candy is a unique antique candy, game, curio shop by The Market. Lot's of malls, museums, downtown area, Irish pubs, etc. The one caution about Omaha is that if you come down, be prepared for it to turn into a 4 or 5 day trip. This is the first time in several years that foul weather did not arise on Sunday when trying to get home. The year of the outdoor game was classic. Turned a three day trip into a five day trip, including some Olympic rubber ducky slide games at the Holiday Inn Sioux Falls on Sunday night when I-29 was shut down. There might still be some video on Youtube from that night. Last year getting tickets was a hassle because the UNO ticket office would not answer the phone for a 701 area code, but this year was no problem direct from the Baxter ticket office. Last year we got our tickets through a secondary marketer. Highly recommend going.
  2. Tell me again how Baxter arena is too small. This is just a couple minutes before the start of the game on the side opposite of where we sat.
  3. According to their fans it started last year with the second half implosion.
  4. Or, join us in Section 119 Row G. Lots of empty seats last night and probably more tonight.
  5. What a great game to see in person. UND was completely dominate in the first period and it seemed that Boeser felt he had to make up for lost time. He was absolutely dominate as was the whole team. UNO simply could not handle UND. Also, it was embarrassing how many empty seats there were in the arena, yet only single seat tickets were available to buy. UNO fans were saying that people are simply not supporting the team and attending the games. I saw UNO fans walking out after the first period. I just hope tomorrow night is not a reversal of fortunes. I don't think I saw Jost or Boeser on the ice in the third period. Coaching is being careful with the two of them and letting others get the experience and ice time.
  6. I think Rocco's problem was he could do things and then made passes that teammates just were not expecting. So from that perspective he was ineffective at times.
  7. That simply means that he is getting to the dirty areas, something the Union coach said his players were afraid to do. You absolutely have to have those types of goals.
  8. It would be like UND fans watching a hockey game between the Gophers and BC. Can't cheer for either one.
  9. You've got the outhouse in the wrong location. All outhouses are on the main level at Baxter.
  10. Heading to Omaha Friday morning. We haven't missed a series in Omaha since they joined the WCHA and don't intend to start now. Anyone heard yet where the Sioux fan gathering will be? Same place as last year, maybe? And then to DJ's Dugout after the game.
  11. Many, including those on Al's bus, stay at the Hilton. They usually have pretty good deals going for the weekend. And DJ's Dugout is just a couple of blocks up the road as well as are other watering places. While the Hilton is a ways from the campus and game arena, it has a skywalk to the arena where UNO used to play so many UND fans tended to stay there. So far that has continued. I believe that the team stayed there as well, but don't know if they still do. We would bump into Hakstol and players in the lobby.
  12. I just realized the biggest negative about Winnipeg. Canada does not tolerate people with DWI or other alcohol related offenses crossing their border. That might eliminate quite a few UND hockey fans.
  13. Need to think outside the box a bit. It would be a great marketing opportunity for NCAA hockey. Better than just a single game exhibition match. It would feature some of the best 16 teams in college hockey. I know it is a tremendous stretch for the NCAA to consider it, but it would be a bigger arena, draw a good UND crowd, plus draw some Canadian fans and players to watch. And, it should earn the NCAA more money.
  14. How about hosting in Winnipeg? Great city for fun and it is closer than Sioux Falls.
  15. So that is what is wrong with the Vikings??? For the last month+ the coach has only been able to see half the field! And I thought it had something to do with the team.
  16. I just saw in today's Fargo Forum that West Region tickets go on sale to the general public on December 9th. I believe that it said online sales only.
  17. I just saw in the Fargo Forum that they go on sale to the general public on December 9th, online only I believe. You can purchase up to four tickets.
  18. I would think the real Gopher fans in attendance would get upset over that.
  19. They already went on sale for Champions Club members a few weeks ago. It appears there may not be SRO at the glass like last time. The email said that the only SRO was up in the bar area. So there may be less tickets available than last time.
  20. Do I understand this correctly, that the Corps originally approved the Missouri crossing permit, then pulled it back and denied it? That could surely be grounds for a lawsuit, especially with the money invested. How many wealthy investors in this project and in the pipeline project are now leaning on their political connections?
  21. Not long. Dropped to #2 after a few minutes.
  22. History is made. Penn St. currently No.1 in pairwise. We'll see how long that lasts.
  23. After numerous posts about why isn't Tomek playing when he should be, some of us may begin to wonder.
  24. Given the youth and inconsistent play the team has had so far, it could be that the coaching staff did not want to expose Tomek to the poor defense the team has shown at times this year. If the team continues to play as solid as they did against St. Cloud, maybe he will get a shot this weekend, Dec 9th & 10th, or maybe Dec. 31st. But there simply could be other issues going on that the public does not know about. The coaching staff has more experience than anyone on this board, so I will trust them.
