  1. They probably don't realize that.
  2. This SDSU coach also talked about not punting at all this year. He was going to think about going for it on 4th down every time. He has already backed down from that. Yes, he is more likely to go for it on 4th down than the average coach. It doesn't mean that he is a good example to follow. If you asked 100 head coaches, he would probably rank number 100 as least conservative. I want a coach that is going to take some chances from time to time, but not take stupid chances. Those are for fantasy football, or Madden, not for actual games.
  3. And some of us disagree. There is nothing wrong with playing percentages, especially when you have less talent and a chance to win. After all, if the percentages tell you that one way of doing something has had a record of more success, then you should probably do that. You try to give yourself the best chance to win. The 4th and 15 with more than 3 minutes to play was a horrible time to go for it. Let the strength of your team, the defense and special teams, do what they are supposed to do. It didn't work the way UND wanted. But the chances of converting a 4th and 15 are very small, and if they didn't get the first down Fresno would have had great field position to finish the game. Coaches have to figure out what is best for the team based on the situation and the team itself. Fans can be as aggressive as they want without feeling the consequences. Mussman did what most coaches would have done, and it was a good decision.
  4. You might want to correct the Forum and Bresciani then. It really seems to be 10 current players and 3 former players. From 3 different Forum articles over the past week or so. Are you even an SU fan? Just not paying attention or are you just a clueless troll? Your posts are funny coming from an SU fan on a UND fan forum whining about how mean people are being to the poor football players at SU. And you don't even know how many players have been charged. Thanks for playing.
  5. Trolling and trying to change the subject because your precious SU football team has yet another black eye. Good stuff. How does Mr. Taylor feel about his boss publicly correcting him and saying that no decisions have been made regarding suspensions for the 10 accused criminals?
  6. They keep telling everyone they live in the greatest city in the world. Other people think of New York City or Paris, SU fans think it's Fargo.
  7. I don't remember if it was officially Laddie's or not. But I know they put an emphasis on the L & M name after they opened the south end store, I thought they changed it because I don't really remember the L & M name much before the new store. I put Marie in as family to try and keep the post a little shorter. But she is a big part of the story. Their oldest child was born while they were still in Europe. It is really an American success story.
  8. Just another way for SU fans to try and put down hockey and UND.
  9. That would be L & M Meats on the corner of 28th Avenue South and South Washington. L & M was originally known as Laddie's for the original owner, Ladislav (Laddie) Novak. They changed the name when they moved to the new location from the old one on State Mill Road about 10 years ago. Laddie's story of surviving World War II and finding a way to get himself and his family to North Dakota, then getting into the business, is very interesting. A couple of his sons still run the business. And a lot of people still call it Laddie's.
  10. So you would rather have your coaches recruit players that can't handle the academics and may not belong in college rather than recruit people that leave school early and will be successful in their chosen field. Got it. How about guys like Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg? Do you have a problem with people that get a great business idea and leave school early to pursue that idea? Do you have the same problem with schools like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina and other places where a lot of basketball players go pro early? Or football schools like USC, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma and a bunch more?
  11. And a lot of those guys come back every summer to get their degrees. For the guys that are making more than $1,000,000 per year that don't come back, they probably don't mind being considered drop outs. On the subject of academics, how many NDSU football players can't make it through school and either drop out of school or quit football? I would guess that there are at least 1 or 2 every year and maybe more. Is that better or worse than guys that leave school because they can make a lot of money?
  12. They have had a good sized store in Sioux Falls for about 20 years. I would guess that the $750K is closer to what they might give to UND at some point, maybe less because of the UND-NDSU thing.
  13. I think it is more about pride for Idaho. No one wants to go backwards and admit that things didn't work out. Especially when it worked for everyone else. That's the position that Idaho is in right now. Pretty much everyone else that has been in the WAC with them have moved on and up, but Idaho doesn't have the same options. That has to be difficult to accept.
  14. I am sure that both the number of players and the severity of the crime have made this very difficult to deal with. NDSU would have been much better off if they would have admitted that rather than trying to make it look like the players were victims and that this wasn't a big deal. It is always better to get out in front of the problem. Reacting later usually makes it worse, and there is often an even bigger mess to clean up.
  15. The owners are big NDSU supporters. I'm sure that was a major reason for the donation. It never hurts to ask, and someone probably has at least approached them, but I would be surprise if they made that large a donation to UND. Something smaller is much more likely.
  16. Have you read the threads about jerseys? Is it the right shade? The stripes are too wide. It looks too generic. Or any of the other threads that go on and on about nothing? I think a topic talking about football players forging signatures on petitions is a little more important than the fashion merits of different jersey styles. If you don't like it, don't read it.
  17. Pretty much the same thing. Why fix something if it isn't broke?
  18. Yes. They started having a few vendors this year. Or you can bring your own. All tailgating is in one block covering about the west 1/3 of the main parking lot on the south side of the Alerus Center.
  19. There are 57 pages on the fashion aspects of new hockey jerseys. What's your point?
  20. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/244844/ Is someone on campus at NDSU listening to the citizens of North Dakota?
  21. I can't imagine. Maybe we aren't as "worldly" as our friends to the south. They sure seem to believe that they're "superior" to everyone else.
  22. All of the schools in that 150-200 range are pretty close. There are a lot of ties, there could be 4 or 5 schools tied at 164 for example, so 1 or 2 points difference could move a school 5-10 spots in a year. And this is just 1 ranking. But if you look at the 5-10 schools on either side you will get an idea of which schools are peers or similar level. UND is in a pretty good neighborhood, and still has room to improve.
  23. Are all of the players from Chicago? ;)
  24. That may be part of it. But I would guess that the TV contract that puts them on national television for every game and gives them lots of $$$$$$ is a bigger reason for why they want to stay an independent in football. Why give up the $$$$ if you don't have to.
  25. I haven't asked, but my guess is name recognition. A lot of restaurants have done business with them for many, many years. They had a pretty good hold on a lot of the business in the region for a long time. Sometimes it is good to keep that connection rather than just throw it away. But they have used the US Foods name more and more over the last couple of years. It might be a weaning process to get people used to doing business with the corporate office rather than the small local company.
