It looks like 1 former Sioux player and 1 current Sioux player will be in Development Camp for the Buffalo Sabres. Phil Lamoureux and Corey Fienhage are on the roster.

A more mature approach would be to make a post about anything else without even mentioning the subject. That way you acknowledge the fact that you have read the thread (and the post in question) and not deemed it worthy of even responding in any way at all.

If you think that someone is baiting you it is best to not reply at all. That prevents the drawn out arguments that get repetitive and can often turn personal.

I have been told that the building needs a new roof. That is the only major structural problem that I know about. I believe that the ice making machinery also needed to be replaced, but that wouldn't be a part of an indoor training facility for other sports.
-
I am pretty sure that the Oct 1st deadline is to make a decision. That decision will probably be implemented effective at the end of the school year, or July 1, 2010. I don't think that they would make a change during the school year.
-
The best thing to do is to call the Ralph. They will know what is available and what it will cost. Most of us would just be guessing if we tried to give you an answer.
-
That's what I said.
-
That's a good match. The Force get a proven coach and Steve gets to do what he likes and stay in the area. Should also benefit UND in the long run.
-
There will probably be a group that blames UND and the Fighting Sioux nickname for years. "If UND had changed the name in the 1970s then things would have been different."
-
I'm pretty sure that they aren't televising the races this weekend. They have an audio feed on their broadcast web site www.dirtvision.com, but the next video they have listed is next week. I don't think that the local track has any control over that. It is kind of like when the Wild play at REA, they set up their own media and the venue has no media rights.
-
No, that couldn't be it. They must have been talking about the University of North Dakota State Fighting Bison, that school from Grand Fargo.
-
I agree about the nightmare. But I found the following paragraph interesting.
-
I heard that they will get to start all league games with a 2-0 lead.
-
If we own it then maybe we shouldn't allow the students to destroy it after all. Hopefully we'll get a chance to use it again in the near future. Does NDSU have any problems with UND owning a building in Fargo, especially one right beside the campus?
-
Maybe that's what they call it. I don't remember UND using it, at least not recently.
-
Not at the Ralph. Maybe they could move the whole event south about 75 miles, to a big brick building down there. A small nuke in that building shouldn't cause any problems for UND students.

Since when does having credibility have anything to do with anything, especially with him?

Attendance will probably increase in the WCHA, not decrease. Many of the schools are within easy travel distance and since they have a big building you are pretty much assured of having tickets available. Schools like UND, UMTC, MSUM and probably a few others would have good sized crowds follow them to Omaha. For instance, it's only a couple of hours longer to drive to Omaha from Grand Forks than it is to drive to Minneapolis. From the Twin Cities it is an easy drive down 35 to Des Moines and west on 80 to Omaha. Besides, other than the big 4 schools of the CCHA, who from that conference is going to draw large crowds? Do you think Omaha people, other than hockey fans, know anything at all about Northern Michigan or Lake Superior State or some of the other schools? At least the average sports fan in Omaha is familiar with UND, UMD, St. Cloud, MSUM, UMTC and Wisconsin. And it won't take them long to know a long time hockey program like Denver or Colorado College.

1. I showed you some actual numbers in a post above. They will save money on travel and will probably make more money by increasing attendance. 2. Obviously you have no clue about the CCHA. Omaha already travels to Alaska because the University of Alaska at Fairbanks is part of the CCHA. In an earlier thread someone compared the travel for Omaha between the CCHA and WCHA. It adds up to hundreds of miles of travel which means less cost and less time on the road. Here it is again: 3. You can lose more games and still get into the NC$$ tourney if your strength of schedule is better. Plus you are better prepared to play the good teams once you get into the tourney. 4. Local fans don't need to travel. But they will also probably show up whether you are playing CCHA or WCHA. If you can attract a lot more fans traveling in to see the opposing team it can be advantageous financially.

I still believe that the Final 5(6) will remain in St. Paul most, if not all, years. I think that they will look at moving it to other locations like Omaha once in a while, but I don't know if that will actually happen. My point is that it isn't written in stone that it will stay in St. Paul because we don't know for sure what will happen. Until the contract is signed we don't know what kind of curveball could be thrown into the mix.
-
The contract is going to be up for negotiation in a couple of years. We don't have any idea about what the Xcel will ask for in new negotiations. They may try to get a lot more money. Or someone else may want to try and get those dates and offer a lot more money. The WCHA will look at all options. The Qwest Center has some advantages because it is within driving distance of the Colorado schools. It would take something major for the WCHA to move the tournament, but we won't know for sure until a new contract is announced.
-
More like 25. Division play started in 1969 and I believe that they realigned in 1994, so from 1969-1993. And don't forget that the Dallas Cowboys have been in the National Football League East forever while the Atlanta Falcons were in the NFL West for many years.

UNO is not going to get more money than other schools for the WCHA tourney. That money is used to operate the league, the schools don't divide it up as profits. It is possible that they could host the tourney occasionally. Geographically that would work pretty well. But the capacity may make a difference since the Xcel Energy Center holds 2,000 plus more people. The contract with Xcel is up in the next couple of years, it will be interesting to see if they will keep it there or let it move around. UNO would gain in several ways by moving to the WCHA. First, they would save money on travel. They would average 200 or more miles per round trip in savings for conference games. That would add up to a nice chunk of change alone. Attendance at home games would probably increase in the long run because visiting fans would have an easier trip to get to Omaha. People from Grand Forks, Mankato, Minneapolis, St. Cloud, Denver and Colorado College would be within decent driving distance and Wisconsin, Duluth and Bemidji would be within potential range. How many people drive from Ann Arbor or Columbus or other CCHA cities? If you could average 1,000 extra fans per game for league games that would be 14,000 fans. Multiply that by average ticket price of $15 (I don't know what they charge but it is probably at least that) and it comes out to an increase in revenue of more than $200,000. The other advantage is that Omaha had a league relationship with many members of the WCHA for a long time. Their fans are already familiar with UND, Mankato, St. Cloud and Duluth. They would still have the connection to Big 10 schools by swapping out Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State for Minnesota and Wisconsin. So the average fan would have at least the same level of interest in going to games if not possibly pulling in other Omaha fans that may be used to watching the Mavericks play against former NCC opponents.

I believe that you are limited to 2 extra games if you travel to Alaska right now. I don't know if the NC$$ would allow schools 4 extra games for traveling to Alaska in a single year whether that was 1 trip or 2.
