Actually, he has it built into this site. I assume that he has the site gather the information from other places, I know that he doesn't sit at home entering games as they happen. But if you were going to do it by hand it would take quite a while.

Is Kurt Zellers UND's worst alumni?!?!

They could actually both go. Or one of those 2 and San Diego. They want 2 teams in LA. There are 2 stadium proposals in place. One of the 2 stadium proposals would actually like to have 2 teams in that stadium like in New York. But they won't move 3 teams so it will be either 1 in each stadium or only the 1 stadium gets built. One team will probably commit to move in the next 1-2 years, and then it will be interesting to see if a second agrees to go. -

The NFL would prefer to move Buffalo, or possibly let them split the season. Buffalo is going to put up a fight to keep the team and Ralph Wilson doesn't really want to leave. And Minnesota is a more immediate need. The odds would be greater for the Vikings to go west, but I have heard a few rumors about the possibility of going east. -
We let Jim Dahl do it. He does a great job and we don't have to worry about it.

That's why it isn't a stadium just for the Vikings. That's why you put a roof on it and use it another 300 days per year for other events. That's why you bring in events like a Super Bowl and an NCAA Final Four. That's why you put major concerts in the building. The stadium isn't just for the Vikings, although they are a major tenant and the reason people want to build it right now. The Metrodome cost $55 million to build and brought hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue into the state because of all the events that were held there. But the Metrodome was built on the cheap and it is time to replace it. You ask how long to recoup a billion dollars. The Vikings have arranged for more than 400 million of that, so you don't have to recoup that part. And with prices increasing as they always do, you will recoup most or all of the other 500+ over the 30 years of the Vikings lease. If Minnesota doesn't do it in the next year or 2 the Vikings will move on to another city like Los Angeles or Toronto. -

A little bit of an anger issue maybe? Congratulate your cousin on getting a decent education and having good taste in sports teams. But I'm not sure what relevance any of this post has to the issues.

Interesting post, LakesDave. Having a bad night? You might want to try some warm milk. A good nights sleep will help.

Most of the people I know with name fatigue want the whole thing gone, and some have wanted it gone for several years. When I say gone I mean they want the name gone. Because if the name stays they are going to have to hear about it over and over again every time the sanctions affect a team. They don't care about the NCAA. They just don't want to hear about the issue any more.

In my experience rumors are wrong more than they are right.
-
I think he's confused. Lots of people attend sporting events and never set foot in a classroom.
-
You still didn't answer his question. You made a statement earlier that some of the top schools in the country didn't have an athletic department. He provided a list of the top schools in the country, all of them have athletics and most or all belong to the NCAA. Where are your examples of top schools without athletics?
-
And if you look back a few posts further you will see that I mentioned donations for things other than athletics.

What's really funny is you pick out about the only definition that's positive. And you never see self-confidence related back to narcissism. Here are some synonyms for both terms. They are not directly related. For you it boils down to selfishness, self-interest, self-absorption, etc. Those aren't related to self-confidence. Nice try though. Main Entry: narcissism [nahr-suh-siz-em] Part of Speech: noun Definition: egotism Synonyms: arrogance, boastfulness, boasting, bragging, conceit, conceitedness, ego, egocentricity, egoism, egomania, gasconade, haughtiness, insolence, ostentation, overconfidence, presumption, self-absorption, self-admiration, self-importance, self-interest, self-love, self-possession, self-regard, self-worship, selfishness, superiority, swellheadedness, vainglory, vainness, vanity, vaunting Main Entry: self-confidence [self-kon-fi-duhns, self-] Part of Speech: noun Definition: self assurance Synonyms: aplomb, inner strength, positive self-image, self-assurance

The only thing that matters is what Dave likes and wants. He likes baggy and nothing else will do. It doesn't do any good to explain reasons to him.
-
Another fine example of your narcissistic tendencies.

We have concentrated our concerns and much of the discussion on the athletic department. But if you have been paying attention, we have also discussed data that proves successful athletic programs help attract students, donations, even help attract grants. The donations and grants are not limited to the athletic department, and the students come for a variety of academic options. Examples are increased applications at Butler the past couple of years, and how Gonzaga grew because they started making it to be a part of March Madness. There are plenty of other examples. More students and more donations are good for the school and help the school grow. Athletics are used as a marketing tool for schools. Look right down the street from where you live, NDSU grew very quickly over several years and part of the reason was getting attention in the Twin Cities area and the rest of the region because of success in football and basketball. You don't absolutely need an athletic department, but it is a very useful tool. Now you want to take that tool out of UND's tool box.

Were the computers functional in 1995? They worked well for what they did and were better than having a typewriter. Would you consider them as functional as the computers of today? Not even close. Same type premise.

I forgot. He probably only has room for a single train of thought at 1 time.
-
The 2 don't have to be mutually exclusive. You can think about both without too much exertion.
-
As jdub pointed out, that wouldn't be the best thing for UND.
-
A few years ago I was told that UND was getting at least a couple of million each year. I don't think the first contract was as favorable to UND. I believe that they changed the contract after the first few years the building was open and they figured out how things were actually going to work.
-
It depends on which system you are talking about because they are all different. You are probably referring to Pairwise since that is the one used for the tournament. Pairwise does use the success of everyone's opponents as a part of their ranking. But I'm not an expert on the rankings so I won't try to explain it. I just know that losing to high ranked teams doesn't hurt as much as losing to low ranked teams, except in the head to head categories.
-
I couldn't think of any schools without sports, but I didn't have time to do the research. I believe that there are a few small private schools that do not have athletics. Obviously they aren't the top end schools, at least not the ones we think of. Of course everything could be totally different in the universe that Dave lives in.

That's true, but getting rid of UND would eliminate some long road trips. Having Idaho makes that a little easier, especially if they have another school in mind to add.
