From a Gopher stand point, I didn't agree with the draft (but I love the concept). I think I would have taken Elliot and than Skille (deabtable). I like our goalies, but Elliot can take over a game, which is something our guys rarely do. As for Skille, he's had an off year, but he has great stick skills and passing. I'd like to see us replace what we lost when Hirsh was dismissed.

You're obviously joking right? You're implying that Lammy is somehow more abused than other goalies? Hah. I'd do what ever other Goalie does. Make the save, cover up, wait for the whistle. If he wants to leave the crease to avoid a charge fine, but if he can;t handle the pokeing, he should get out of the nets. Letrs be honest, he's not swinging the arm up, posing for a second that bring it in to show the ref he has the puck. that's laughable. Lastly, as before, I don't care that he showboats. I only say that he does, to an extreme.

Talking Sioux strategy, you've got some good thoughts. Very good thoughts. I think the other thing the Sioux should focus on is keeping the puck deep in the zone. The Gophers don't defend well around the goal line, however, they clearly clogged the Sioux up on the blue line. As much as I hate it, dump and chase might be a good tactic. While the Gophers beat you to the pucks all game long, the Sioux does have the size and speed to compete in the corners. Take it low, cycle it around and quick onetime passes to the front of the crease are Gopher killers.

Honestly no, I haven;t seen them all. But Lammy is among the biggest showboating goalies I've seen in 35 years of watching hockey at every level. So I guessed it was a safe asusmption. Perhaps he's just among the top 10 this season, who also happend to be the top ten of all time. To say he's not a showboat, and to make excuses is not being honest. And I didn't rip him for showboating. I just pointed out he did and said I was fine with it.

Can't we move beyond the "our fans and players are so much classier than yours" debate. Both sides have stupid fans and great fans, both teams have arrogance and sportsmanship. This is a rivalry fellas, We're not supposed to be proper during the games. You don't play cheap, and fans should not be crude, but you do play/cheer with passion and talk some trash. It's trying to get a mental/emotional edge. Now how you behave after the games is another story. That's a time to shake hands, say nice game and buy the lsoing fan/player a beer. In Lammy' defense, he was the biggest showboat goalie in the college hockey. I don't mind skating out of the crease, that's fine, but the "posing" he'd do after a save was obnoxious. That said, I didn't see him do it once during the final five. Not sure why, but I noticed and appraciated it. ALthough, there's nothing wrong with him showboating during the game if he can back it up. Not my style, but as written earlier, maybe it's gives him an edge emtioanl/mentaly.

I only say this becuase i'd like to see another Sioux/Gopher match up. The Gophers beat the Sioux by beating them to every free puck. In the corners, along the boards, you name it, we outskated your sqaud to the puck and held control. If the Sioux are to advance, they need to move their feet and hustle more. For the most part, they played good postional hockey though. They kept the Gophers out of the center of the ice the entire game. Everything came in fromt he outside edges. Almost as important, keep your heads. You guys took a lot of dumb penalties (all three times we played you). You can blame the refs all you want, but the Sioux deserves most of the penalties they get. In fact, i see you guys getting a way with a lot that's not called. i think the refs stop from trying to pile it on your team at times. Oh yeah, and Duncan has to shoot, shoot, shoot. That kid has the most pinpoint accurate shot I've seen in years. I'd bet on him to knock a beer can off a fence post from thrity feet a way.

Ummm, best record in the NCAA? Only if you put qualifications on it. As for trolling, nothing I said was rude. I made an honest comment. I like this board because of the pasion and different takes on things, but there's always more bashing of opposing coaches, players, fans, refs, you name it, than talking up your own team. GPL has its bashing, but nothing comes close to the bashing here. I see Lucia rips hourl;y on here. Hakstol's named is hardly mentioned on GPL. Oh, and jersery popping is pying tribute to the treasured M over the player who is wearing it. I have no problem with showing pride in your team/school.

After reading this, I have one thought. When you Sioux fans have nothing to cheer about, you attempt to belittle those who do. I hope it helps you folks sleep well at night. As a proud Gopher fan, I don;t need to knock others to love my team or feel good. Good luck against Michigan. I'd like one more shot at you guys.

Ummm, I dont see any Gophers whinning about facing you. In fact, I think we're too busy shiney our new hardware. Oh, How was the trip home? As a gopher fan I'm angry that we're in the same bracket beacuse we both deserve a shot at the FINAL FOUR. It's ridiculous to have two of the best eams knock on each other during the opening rounds of play. That's like having Ohio State and Florida match up in the Sweet sixteen. Great game but stupid timing.

No shame Sioux Fans. You're team played hard. the Gophers just played a little harder and got the bounce that mattered most. The biggest crime is if we are paired up in the same regional bracket. We deserve a chance at meeting in the title game. Oh yeah, about the jersey pop, that's just honoring the M. I'd rather see our guys pay homage to the treasured M, than being a delf serving glory boy like you see in the NBA and NFL. Not to rub it in, but this feels damn good to say. You can have the DQ Cup. You earned it. We'll take the McNaughtom and Broadmor. We earned those.

Best game off the year, in the best league in college hockey. I think we'll be seeing each other in St. Louis. Hopefully, not before the final game.

Besides your own. I was reading all the contempt for Jutting and MSU. So Iwas wondering, which program does UND fans respect. As a Gopher Fan, I can admit I have a ton of repsect (with equal if not more amounts of disdain) for UND. I like what Tech has done the last few seasons and Motzko seems to building somethng good at SCSU, but I really don't think either of those two schools have a "program" worth respecting yet.

In order of importance, McNaughton Cup pales to the national title. Still, it's nice to have

All I know is the McNaughton Cup makes a pretty good preoxide holder. It's been a while since you had it, perhaps you forgot how well it works. You should try and it win again sometime.

It's hard, really, really, really hard not to talk smack about the Sioux over this. You guys rarely hold back when it comes to Gopher issues. But I will, and say i hope Bina learns to handle his drinking and behavior issues. He's not a kid anymore. He needs to be a lot smarter about his choices. DUI, probabtion and obstructing an officer, pretty poor judgment. Hey, Drink if you want, but be smart, and never mess with police. It's a losing formula.

Go ahead, call me a troll. I find your board fairly entertaining during Gopher/Sioux week. Here's an honest take. Gophers win Saturday night for sure. Friday is the iffy night. If the Sioux get a point or two, it will ocme on Friday, that makes tonights game the big one in my opinion. One last thing, I'll admit it i can"t stand the Sioux, but I respect the fans. YOu guys are passionate and that's cool. I wish/hope you could return the repsect. I like good natured jawing, but some of the comments here (and on GPL) get a little rediculous. It's almost as bad as sying my dad could beat up your dad. To sum things up, I want a fast, physical game with a hard shove or two on both sides but a clean, stand up game over all. And I hope the Refs keep the whistle in the pocket as much as possible.

The better team won last night, no doubt. You out hussled, out hit and out played us. Great game. I'd hoped for a different outcome, but I can;t complain abou the reuslts. We didn;t play bad, we dind't get screwed, we just got beat. But we'll be back.
