Recently, I visited an ER in rural ND and was very excited to hear about a new technology that they will be implementing in their emergency department. They are installing cameras and microphones into one of their larger patient rooms which will directly link them with board certified ER physicians who are hundreds of miles away. Those ER physicians will have the capability to control the camera inorder to better visualize the patient, monitoring equipment, and to speak directly with the patient, staff, and family members,if need be. In addition, they will be visible on a large screen monitor so the patient and staff can see them. As this is the area I prefer to practice, I'm really, really excited about these new advances in medical care; especially for small rural facilities. I wonder if that is part of the 'electronic consultations' (not specifically ER but all specialties) Altru and Mayo will have or if they are just refering to faxing/emailing/texting in real time?

I don't think it's necessary to bash Sanford. I've worked for both at different locations and both are good health care providers. As a contracted professional rather than an employee, I can't speak to their internal differences.

The Dakota are here and now. And, if they do not want their name used, the NC$$ will listen. The 'Carolina' are no longer here to say yea or nay to the use of their tribes name. I'm not going to continue to argue the point, it's useless. My point is, the NC$$ can and will do what they want regarding any name or logo we choose to use. Given how we are treated differently (see Sciatoka's latest post) from other institutions with Indian names/logos/mascots, I have no faith that we will be allowed to use Dakota without the 'North' as part of it for a name. That is MY opinion. I've been wrong before and will be wrong again.

Carolina is not the name of an Indian tribe, Dakota is. I wouldn't put any trust in the NC$$ acting as rationally as you think they would.

Dakota is not the name of the school. The name of the school is the University of NORTH Dakota. The NC$$ isn't going to give us any slack in our name or logo.

The same reasoning the NC$$ uses when they allow some schools with native names and logos to continue using them after ONE namesake tribe said it's ok but we need TWO namesake tribes. The same reasoning that the NC$$ uses when they allow any school to continue using native names and logoa when they say to do is hostile and abusive. The same reasoning the NC$$ uses when they profit from our name and logo even though they say they're hostile and abusive. The same reason dogs lick themselves....because they can.

Can't use just Dakota, it has to be North Dakota or ND. Dakota alone is hostile and abusive as it is the name of a Sioux tribe.

After four + years of traveling, I finally took an assignment close enough so I could drive to watch our boys play at home and in some other venues!

Thanks. I haven't had to pay for hockey equipment for a few years (THANK YOU JESUS!!!) and, when I'm home, rarely go down Washington.

You buy an authentic jersey at the Ralph and have the players name and number put on by a local place that puts names and numbers on sports jerseys. When my sons were in little guy sports, I took their jerseys to Gerrells. I don't think Gerrells is open any more?

I worked at a health organization that was bought by Mayo. Maybe because the relationship was new, I saw no benefit to the community; essentially, nothing changed except the name. The goal is to have high tech medical resources 'at home' without having to travel hundreds of miles. This may not happen in GF since it is a lot larger than that community.

Did you learn nothing from your time out?!?! If your goals when posting on SS.com include 'riling up' the members, you're going to get yourself banned; . You'lll end up with only your 'sources' to play with. You know where that will lead you......
