  1. LET'S GO SIOUX, LET'S GO SIOUX, LET'S GO SIOUX, LET'S GO SIOUX, LET'S GO SIOUX, LET'S GO SIOUX
  2. Oh yeah!! Have a drink for me!! Remember I'm on a dry reservation!! Oh what the heck, have a six pack for me!!! Happy birthday and YEA DOGZ!!!
  3. Is the game not being televised??
  4. Damn job!!! What's the score??
  5. HockeyMom is right on when she says SiouxSports.com peeps are the best! I really enjoy meeting SS.com folk. It's great to talk about our passion/obsession/reason for living ( ) with others of like mind!!! Oh, and YaneA is the best!!!!
  6. My point is, as mentioned ad nauseum in these threads, not all members of a minority 'choose to be offended'. As also mentioned many times before, no where is it writtten that we have the right to not be offended.
  7. I wrote a letter to the editor around twenty years ago and used the word niggardly, the paper changed the word without asking me. I used the word for emphasis and when it was changed, the emphasis was lost. I was not referring to any group or race. It was used as defined in Webster's Dictionary.
  8. You're right. Until I read the article in the Navajo Times, 'squaw', to me, referred to an Indian woman.
  9. An injunction was also requested. If granted, we can have the playoffs here.
  10. That's true. It's my understanding though, that calling an American Indian a RED SKIN is thought of in the same vein as calling an African American the "N" word. Calling an American Indian an Indian, Warrior, Brave, etc doesn't carry the same neagative, racially inflammable connotation that calling an American Indian a "Red Skin". I was very surprised to see Red Mesa (on the Navajo reservation) call their team by that name because of that understanding on my part. I've also been reading in the Navajo Times that many Indians (from many different tribes) are banning together to request changing the names of many towns, rivers, etc. The name they want removed is "Squaw". Apparently, squaw refers to a women's genitalia in a very negative way.
  11. You are an idiot for posting this drivel and a disgrace to the majority of Bison fans who post on SIOUXSPORTS.com Your mom's a UND grad?!? So, when did she tell you you were adopted?
  12. This doesn't need it's own thread, so I'm posting it here. As some of you know, I'm currently on the Navajo Nation reservation in Arizona. I was driving around today enjoying the beautiful countryside and drove past a tiny little town named Red Mesa. The name of the high school's sports team was proudly displayed in big letters on a big sign for all to see as they drove past, THE RED SKINS. Go figure.
  13. Sad to say it but people outside of our local fan base get us mixed up all the time. I was at the Bears vs Vikings game right after 9/11 and the guy behind us said that Kleinsauser (sp? too lazy to look it up) played for the North Dakota Bisons. Don't worry, I corrected him pretty quick. Imagine this, me wearing a cap with a white head band wearing bear head on top of it, a #54 Bears jersey, blue and orange zubas, a leather Chicago bears jacket, a Chicago Bears tattoo (removable) on my face and blue and orange mittens, defending and cheering for a Minnesota Vikings/North Dakota Fighting Sioux player. It's ok though, he was only on the field about 15 seconds total the entire game. *We won that one, too!
  14. Not friggin' likely. The posts I read said Sioux fans were cheering on a NORTH DAKOTA team playing against one of our arch rivals. Sioux fans wanted the NORTH DAKOTA team to win. It could have been Wahpeton playing the Goofs and Sioux fans would have been cheering them on. Now on the other hand, had you played against Holy Cross, well, North Dakota team be da%^'d, I would have been cheering for the Crusaders!! I don't see any Sioux fans boarding any Bison wagon now or anytime soon!! C'mon now, lets play ball!!!!
  15. Why fight it?? Because after all is said and done, a rivalry is still a rivalry?? I don't HATE the Bison but I LOVE our rivalry and I can't wait until we meet on the field once again!!!
  16. I don't know if I did, I'd fix it. Speculating, I know this is going to sound stupid but can it be that they just don't know how good they are? I don't care what anyone says, this team is FULL of talented, hard working young men. There isn't a prima dona or lazy gus among them.
  17. "No, Mr. Walks In The Wind, that beer is not yours. Give it to me, Ill dispose of it before the cops come to take you away."
