Retiring the Fighting Sioux name and logo will occur if and when the University of North Dakota decides it is time to do so. It will not be retired because a minority of the minority demand it be retired. It will not be retired because a PC group has determined the Fighting Sioux name and logo are hostile and abusive with not one shred of evidence that it is. The only hostility and abuse comes from the Name Change group as witnessed by GrahamKracker's (yes, undsportsfan, I am referring to Gary LaPointe) words and actions. No one speaks to him in the same hostile and abusive way he speaks to those who disagree with him. To do so would have labled that person a racist. But because Gary aka GrahamKracker is a Native American, he can't be a racist.

FINALLY!!!!!!!! How many times have we said this!?! We are cheering for the athletes that are wearing the Fighting Sioux name and logo. A name that was chosen because the Sioux Indians of old are believed to have been courageous, fearless, honorable and a force to be dealth with. We are NOT honoring the Sioux of today. We are NOT cheering for living Native Americans who are Sioux. We are NOT disgracing the name of the Sioux of yesterday when we cheer our Fighting Sioux athletes on the victory. We did NOT choose the name Fighting Sioux because we hate Native Americans or because we disrespect the Sioux of times gone by! And when our opponents yell, 'Sioux suck' they are NOT referring to Native Americans who are Sioux. They are referring to the athletes who are wearing the Fighting Sioux name and logo. Finally, Doreen, you get it!!! We are NOT cheering for the 'Sioux, as a group...' Damn, woman, it took you long enough!!!

You mean the way Wisconsin, et al, have done? I don't understand why it's ok to schedule games with hostile and abusive athletic programs in your conference and it's not ok with athletic programs not in your conference? It either is always hostile and abusive or it ain't at all!! What would those non-conference schools do if we met them in the post season such as at the Frozen Four?

That's what I remember as the reason for removing the cup holders were removed. Although, the 'dead gopher holder' reason did make me laugh.

Reading the posted articles regarding Dartmouth's own treatment of Native Americans brings to mind, 'People in glass houses......' Rather than cleaning their own house, they attack ours with really no facts other than the usual PC rhetoric. Reminds me of the hyprocrisy displayed by other 'outraged' institutions of higher learning of which St. Cloud and Wisconsin immediately come to mind. It's also noteworthy to mention the letters to the editor from two Darthmouth alumni, decades and thousands of miles apart.

Damn, I've had a great day!! First a FB win in Omaha and now a 'new' hockey team wins at the Ralph. I just have to add this, should have done it last night but better late than never. Brian Lee is a great defense man, I don't care what anyone says. He's not flashy, he doesn't stand out but he does his job and he does it well. I don't know if there is such a thing but he's more of an offensive defense man. I'd pick him to be on my team every time!!!!
