I find it interesting that this resolution that would have retired the Chief Illiniwek mascot included a recognition of support for the underlying nickname. I'm sure the PC left at Illinois don't really support the nickname, but included it to help passage of the resolution. Once (if) the mascot is dropped, I'm sure the nickname will be their next target. One thing is for sure, the PC left will always find something to protest.
An article about Sertich is linked. A tired quote from Lucia:
"North Dakota has probably got one main rivalry, and it's us," Lucia said. "This is the weekend that they wait for."
A subtle jab. This is a play off the "we're everyone's rival" theme the Gophers love to talk about. They will never admit this game is more than just a typical game for them. Just more Gopher arrogance.
Every since Lucia's "Natural Rival" system came on board, I've said Minnesota-Duluth should have been our rival rather than St. Cloud State. UMD is a more storied program and is approximately the same distance away.
He was on crutches last night because of the high ankle sprain he suffered Friday night. He was on the radio and said he is hopeful he'll be skating by Wednesday and playing this weekend. However, both Blais and Tim stated that they thought he was being a bit optimistic and doubted whether he'd be ready for the weekend.
I agree that I'd rather listen to Tim and Tim, but I won't have that option in my living room since my computer and my living room are in different rooms on different floors. I wonder who the appropriate contact would be at UND or REA to get information on what the problem might be.
It sounds like Lundbohm will be back for sure.
Schneider thinks he'll be back...but Blais and TH both think it's very doubtful.
I have no idea about Masson. Anyone heard anything?
I agree. My objection to pulling Brandt is nothing like clschneid's diatribe. I understand why DB made the switch and it has nothing to do with head games. But at the same time, I know how important shut-outs are to goalies. Anytime a goalie is so close to one, it has to be tough to be pulled...for whatever reason.

Now THAT was a recruiting class. Time will tell how this year's pans out.
