  1. There have been alumni from the men's swimming program who said they can gather enough money to keep the swimmimg/diving program going. The athletic department said under NCAA rules they can only use that money if the university also keeps a women's sport, even if all the money for the swimming program came from donations. This doesn't make any sense to me, but apparently this is an NCAA/Title Nine rule.
  2. Hello nodakvindy, The RU athletic department has been juggling money for years to keep 30 sports running, but the state just cut funding to the university by almost $100 million for the upcoming year. Tuition is going up 8% and the cost for an in-state student living on campus is now about $17,000. New Jersey is one of the best state's in the nation for supporting elementary and high schools, but one of the worst in supporting public colleges. Even without the big state cut, this was going to happen sooner or later.
  3. Despite record crowds, donations, television money, merchandise sales, and a bowl game, Rutgers has announced we are eliminating six of our thirty Division 1 sports. The upcoming seasons will be the final ones for men's tennis, men's heavyweight crew, men's lightweight crew, women's fencing, men's fencing, and men's swimming and diving. The crew program goes back to the 1860's. The skyrocketing costs of running a Division 1 program seem to have no end in sight. I hope none of the current Sioux teams are eliminated as the university moves toward Division 1 status in all sports. GO SCARLET KNIGHTS! GO FIGHTING SIOUX!
  4. If anyone would like Sioux Illustrateds from this past year, just send me a personal message with your address. I am not looking for any money--I just thought a fan out there might want these. GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT NORTH CAROLINA! GO FIGHTING SIOUX--BEAT CENTRAL WASHINGTON!
  5. Hello bincitysioux, The Fighting Sioux jersey that President Reagan is holding is my favorite Sioux jersey. What did the road jersey look like during that era?--Here in New Jersey, the Street and Smith has Clark Harris who is a TE for Rutgers on the cover. Who is on the cover in the Midwest?--Great to hear North Dakota is ranked so high!
  6. What types of activities do people do Independence Day weekend out in North Dakota?
  7. A public thanks to a nice Fighting Sioux fan who sent me a copy of his favorite North Dakota game against Minnesota-Twin Cities in February, 1998. After being down 3-0 in the third period, the Sioux came back to win in a barrage of shots against the Golden Gophers goalkeeper. The crowd sounded like they were going to bring the roof down at the second arena. A great comeback, a crazy crowd AND someone brought a live gopher!!! Were any of you at that game?
  8. Glad to hear that North Dakota is not backing down. I am part Irish, Indian, French, and English and the nicknames Fighting Sioux and Fighting Irish are not offensive to me at all. The politically correct thought police have tried to take over America and each day we are losing more and more of our religious rights, freedom of speech, and they are injecting bizarre ideas into public schools, the entertainment and media industries, and the workplace. Thanks for standing up North Dakota. GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  9. This is a great looking jersey.-- Still would have to say my favorite is the one President Reagan was holding in the Sioux hockey history books.
  10. A great pick--one of his children is named JERSEY! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT NORTH CAROLINA! GO NORTH DAKOTA------BEAT CENTRAL WASHINGTON!
  11. If the PC thought police continue, I am sure someone will go after my Scarlet Knights. I hope North Dakota doesn't cave in. It is about a lot more than sports--everday we are losing more of our freedom of speech.
  12. I was wondering how to go about getting away game tickets? I am really hoping to make one of the games at dartmouth and would like to sit in the Fighting Sioux section. I assume they would not be available until early Fall and was wondering who to contact at North Dakota. Thanks.
  13. I've been told I should take my jokes on the road---wayyyyyy down the road. Has there ever been a post where people send in pictures of themselves in Sioux jerseys from various places--The Grand Canyon, The Everglades, their boat, in front of different arenas, etc. I am sure everyone on siouxsports would love to see SiouxMeNow in front of the Alerus Center, Englestad Arena, or the Widman's Chippers store !
  14. Once again, my knowledge of computers has stopped me cold. For some reason the link to athletics.dartmouth.edu/sports/m-hockey will not come up. I have to go now. I need to collect fresh stones to catch my dinner.
  15. There is a mention on Dartmouth's website about North Dakota being in their Christmas tournament. Their arena has 3,500 seats and room for about 1,000 standing. Ticket prices are only $10 which is a very good price these days. Here is their athletics website----My Webpage
  16. I live in the southern part of New Jersey along The Shore so a trip to Dartmouth would be quite a ways--probably seven to eight hours. Good to hear the Sioux will be playing somewhat nearby. The new Rutgers Stadium holds 42,000 and we have had three sell-outs that I can remember which would be Texas, Notre Dame, and Michigan State. We used to have a 23,000 seat stadium and played big schools like West Virginia, Alabama, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Penn State, etc. up in The Meadowlands. Last year, we set an attendance record and I expect another jump this year with possible sell-outs against Louisville and Illinois. The stadium can be expanded to about 65,000 if needed. It is a great place to watch a game and there isn't a bad seat in the house. There are pictures of our sports facilities on the website--My Webpage
  17. Here is to a big PUBLIC thank you to YaneA and SiouxMeNow for the many nice gestures during a very difficult time in my life and my Dad's life. The gestures that they and several other Fighting Sioux fans have done for me have really been appreciated. GOD BLESS.
  18. Hello Sprig/Diggler, Doesn't the team play one series a year using an old jersey? Maybe they will have the blackhawk next season. I saw an old jersey in one of the Sioux hockey books that a Sioux fan sent me that showed President Reagan and a Sioux jersey with North and then the blackhawk and then Dakota on the bottom. It looked great, in fact the only one I have seen that looked kind of bad were those shiny ones with the computer-look logo.
  19. I don't know why SiouxMeNow would do such a terrible thing by adding 35 pounds to my picture! This may seriously hurt my modeling career. I may have to sue for millions. The reason I look cold is because it was the coldest, rainy Spring football game I can remember and I have been going to them since the early 80's. The number 18 jersey is Tim Skarperud's from the last game at the old Engelstad arena. One of the very, very nice fans I have been in contact with over siouxsports.com sent it to me. It was a wonderful gesture by her and very much appreciated. She might not want me to mention her name, but every time somebody asks me if it is a Chicago Black Hawks Saint Patrick's Day jersey I tell them it is for the SEVEN-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS! GO FIGHTING SIOUX!
  20. Any news about next year's schedule? Thanks.
  21. I know this isn't North Dakota related, but I thought most of you wouldn't mind. I just recently heard about this. Brian Malast is a 24 year-old New Jersey State Trooper and brother of Rutgers football player Kevin Malast. He was seriously injured in a tragic incident serving our state. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. I hope nothing like this ever happens to your officers in North Dakota. My WebpageThere is more information about his situation and New Jersey residents trying to help his family on the "Going to Bat for Brian" section of the website--
  22. How did Northern Iowa build a 16,000 indoor stadium for only $7.5 million? Will they go to North Dakota in 2007?
  23. Hello Cratter, If you ever get a chance to see a Clemson Tigers home football game, it is a great atmosphere. The highways leading into town have big, orange tiger paws painted on them.
  24. The National Day of Prayer will be held Thursday, May 4. Thousands of public gatherings will be held throughout our country. More information on the website----My Webpage
  25. Hope all of you have a great time at the Spring game tomorrow! GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT NORTH CAROLINA!
