  1. One of the great North Dakota fans sent me hockey programs and I noticed that Sioux goalie Anthony Grieco and Rutgers starting defensive end Jamaal Westerman are both from Brampton,Ontario,Canada. That must be a heck of a town for sports! GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT LOUISVILLE!
  2. Do any of you know if North Dakota will be going to Connecticut next season to play Quinnipiac? Thanks. GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  3. I hope going to bowl games becomes an annual event for RU. Between time and finances, Charlotte and Jacksonville are my only possibilities. One day I do hope to get out West--the closest I have been is Dayton!
  4. We have to play well in all aspects, including special teams, to beat Louisville. If we play like we did against Pittsburgh we have a very good chance at winning. If we play like we did against Connecticut, we will lose. All I can say is that we are light years from where the team was a few years ago. Just four seasons ago, we lost to West Virginia 80-7! The Mountaineers scored in every conceivable way that day, including numerous special teams debacles.
  5. Hello AussieSioux, Unless my Rutgers football team is in a bowl game in Charlotte or Jacksonville, I am hoping to make the seven hour drive from the New Jersey Shore to see my first North Dakota game on December 30. Hope there are some other enthusiastic Fighting Sioux fans there to see a Sioux win! GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT LOUISVILLE!

  9. Maybe this is a just an East Coast viewpoint, but everyone around here sees the "ND" as Notre Dame. Maybe use the Sioux logo with North Dakota above and Fighting Sioux below. GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!--BEAT LOUISVILLE!
  10. Never in doubt One of our local sportswriters who always goes out of his way to be negative now says that we "are lightning in a bottle"--we now find ways to win games when we aren't having a good game instead of finding ways to lose like we would in the past. The Louisville game is going to be very tough, but I can't believe we are 8-0. GO NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX! GO RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS!
  11. Congrats North Dakota fans on the good comeback weekend in football and hockey! GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT LOUISVILLE!

  20. Smoggy, that must be Doc Emerick(sp). Why is Grieco starting two games in a row? Is he now considered the #1 Sioux goalie?
  21. Congrats Fighting Sioux football! GO NORTH DAKOTA! GO RUTGERS!
  22. You are very welcome Siouxmama. --Here is what happened the other night. I called them and asked when they might start carrying Rutgers jackets. She said "who" and I repeated Rutgers. She said" is that a college?" I know our sports program isn't as well known as Texas,Southern Cal,Louisville, etc. but I thought she would at least have heard the name somewhere. I have heard of schools out your way like Drake and Creighton. Our marketing department has their work cut out for them. It reminded me of years ago, when Rutgers went down to Tennessee for their homecoming. The newspaper down there wrote "What's a Rutgers" on the front page of the paper. 100,000 Volunteer fans sat in disbelief as we won!
  23. Please let me take a few minutes of your time to talk with you about YaneA. A couple of years ago, I started following North Dakota hockey and stumbled onto Jim's website. At the time, my Dad's Alzheimers was starting to get more severe and the daily care was beginning to take a toll on my Mom and his wife since 1947. My company had just closed our office of 1,000 people and I was trying to decide if moving two and a half hours away to help them was what I should do. On top of that, I was kicking myself for the zillionth time about not marrying a great girl who wanted to marry me. Just a few months later, my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. One day, someone asked me on siouxsports about my family and their interest in hockey. I happened to mention that my Dad was not a big sports fan,but that he used to really like to go to sports events at Rutgers-he didn't really like pro sports. I also mentioned that he had Alzheimers.Out of the blue, I heard from YaneA. I really wasn't familiar with chatting on the internet and was surprised that someone would contact me. She offered to send me an old-style Fighting Sioux jersey that was worn by Tim Skarperud. What was a lot more important were a few kind words about my Dad--from a total stranger. I am ashamed to say that more than once I have had chances to take time for people and have not. I can't even explain how much I appreciated it and it would not have mattered if she sent me a Sioux button or Sioux key chain which she did at later dates. What was so shocking to me is that there are still people bothering to be NICE to other people. Somewhere along the line in our country during the last few decades, we have become more concerned with making money, jobs, titles, degrees, huge houses(which are not the same as homes),fancy vacations, fancy cars, and high-tech junk than we are about our fellow Americans. Our nation has been losing its' soul for decades now. We don't think we have time for GOD and we don't think we have time for people. YaneA took the time then and has done so many wonderful gestures for me that I can not count them all. Other Sioux fans like SiouxMeNow and Vegas have also done things out of the blue. One of the things I loved most about my Dad is that he did everyday decent things for us and others without being asked. Just as important, he treated everyone the same. He taught us that a surgeon isn't any better than a janitor. It is who you are inside, not what you do or what you have. I have never met YaneA,but I have a feeling she is like that too. I know my Dad is home with The Lord and sees every wonderful thing she does for people. GOD Bless You!
  24. Hello Siouxmama, I just checked scarletknights.com and there it was--Thompson,North Dakota! What a change this must be for her. I had no idea we recruited that far away. Hopefully, she is enjoying her years here in the classroom and on the track. Here is some info. about the Rutgers track program-- GO FIGHTING SIOUX! GO SCARLET KNIGHTS--BEAT CONNECTICUT!My Webpage
  25. Siouxmama, You are very welcome. What I can't believe is some of the schools they have such as Butler and Austin Peay, and they don't have my school. Coming off a bowl year and now being ranked #16 in the nation, someone really should have made the decision to include Rutgers. They could have sold thousands of these before Christmas. The retail stores around here can't keep anything in stock except caps since we have been getting on TV so much and winning. I wasn't that surprised to see North Dakota available, but I just can't see them selling very many of some of the colleges available.
