Verhoeff will be given every opportunity to play significant minutes on this team. There will be lots of attention on him given that he could potentially go 2nd overall in the draft next year. The coaching staff also wouldn’t want a guy like that on their 3rd pair. My guess is that they play him with Wiebe or Livanavage. Two veteran defenseman that could cover up some of the mistakes that he will make early on.

You have to think UND has an inside edge with half of our staff being from Waterloo’s organization.

Simpson, Williams, Schultz, O’Niell, and McKamey are pretty much a full freshman group of forwards. One of those guys will probably stay another year in juniors and Bryn will want annother forward spot to play with for uncommitted 2026 draft forwards. After those guys, the rest are not Bryn’s guys so it would not shock me to see them go elsewhere.

I think there are still spots for those guys going forward. I would be surprised if Pilgrim and Jundt made it to campus. It also would not shock me if Dalton Andrew was put in a similar spot as Komzak after this year.

I am predicting UND will take a few guys off of their committed list. So much young talent and so little playing time available. We aren’t even mentioning Zellers and Swanson and they as USHL players of the year that will be on those squads.

UND will probably add one more CHL player up front. I could see them adding a top 6 winger and moving James down. James and Menghini seem like a great third line pairing at wing. It would not shock me if UND was able to land another blue chip to play alongside Reschny. You have to think UND’s last forward spot is going to be attractive.

I wonder what the NIL package is for these guys. Maybe we underestimated our budget? That’s probably not a large reason they are coming here but I cannot imagine that they are doing it for nothing considering the money some of these teams are offering these types of recruits.

Verhoeff is in a similar position as DuPont. If Verhoeff has a great year, I would think DuPont will become much more likely

26-27 could feature a lineup with Roschny, Verhoeff, McKamey, Williams, and more. What a complete 180 turn for this program.

I believe very few schools knew McKamey accelerated before he committed. It was a surprise to some schools

Having Patrick in Victoria is huge. Hopefully they are able to capitalize on Verhoeff and Reschny

This season and probably stay for 2 years

I stumbled upon a twitter post from College Puck NXT that had Cole Reschny with UND and BC listed as suitors. Dylan James’ mom was in replies with a tweet that said “CR💚”. I know she had done something similar before Rickwood committed.

The recent interest from Reschny could be a good sign. Reschny and Carbonneau have similar NHL draft stocks. I would think playing every scenario at UND would be better for his development. Reschny would already play behind Hagens in their lineup. 1C at UND would be his spot to lose and at worst he would play 2C between quality wingers.

I wonder if this hurts or helps our chances of Recshny coming here. It seems like it’s between us and BC. BC has Hagens, Stiga, Conmy, and Gasseau. William Moore and Justin Carbonneau as late first/early 2nd round picks. Maybe Reschny would rather play guaranteed top 6 minutes at UND? Not saying he wouldn’t be able to play over all of those guys but he could see himself buried in the lineup some nights.

UND will now need another defenseman for next year. It will be interesting to see which route they will go.
