  1. This is why I have been a little critical of the Brock Schultz commitment. In order for him to make it to campus next year, they’ll have to push back a player that has been more productive. I’m sure the decision will be a lot easier once they know how many players are actually gone. UND will definitely be after a CHL defenseman this spring. Hopefully they are able to have the flexibility to add a forward as well.
  2. Minnesota has a roster slot available as well. That could have been the case with BC and Carbonneau. Regarding Andrew, UND will lose 4 senior forwards and probably a transfer or two. I doubt they cut him unless they feel like he would be a massive liability out there. It’s tough to find guys that are okay with sitting in the stands.
  3. UND opted in and carries 27 players. I know players on the roster prior to opting on are grandfathered in. The roster limit confuses me but I know there at least was a way around it when UND picked up Engel.
  4. BC or BU if he goes to NCAA
  5. Schloss had stated in a podcast a couple of months ago that Wyatt had some interest in UND and even toured, but flipping Brooks from Michigan State is what made it difficult. Maybe Wyatt still goes to Minnesota if Brooks is not a factor. There was interest for at least Wyatt to come to North Dakota.
  6. Potential UND target Brayden Willis had quite the U17 tournament. He’s going to go very high in the 2028 NHL draft if he adds a couple of inches. He has been the most productive player for the UTDP this year. Steering him away from ASU would be massive.
  7. What is the Potulny deal?
  8. I have not. Don’t get me wrong, you need players like Brock to come in and be okay with playing limited minutes for the first couple of years. It’s just going to be hard to justify bringing him in next year over a couple of guys that have been better this year than expected. There is still a ton of season left for improvement and I hope he shows more offensive production.
  9. I just listened to this as well. For those who haven’t, he essentially said that the more time team spend watching or interviewing Verhoeff, the more they will fall in love with him. He said he’s going to absolutely crush his interviews because of his maturity. Unless he goes first in the draft, I think he comes back next year and signs when the season is over. From interviews he has done, it doesn’t seem like he is in a rush to get to the next level. It all comes down to the team that selects him.
  10. I think they committed him thinking he would make a jump similar to what Pilgrim is doing this year. Hopefully the change of scenery works well for him.
  11. I would like to see a lot more out of Brock Schultz. Especially because he is about to age out of juniors and we just committed him a couple of months ago.
  12. I would say it’s either UND or ASU. I followed him briefly to see if he interacted with either schools and he likes quite a bit of ASU’s content and none of UND’s. From a distance it’s seems like ASU is the heavy favorite but you never know.
  13. Cayden Lindstrom has 2 points through 8 games for Michigan State… yikes
  14. Reschny and Verhoeff will likely be gone for that series for Canada’s world juniors camp. I am not sure about the Americans. We could potentially be without Swanson, Zellers, and Emery as well. I do not know when their camp begins.
  15. Is Nguyen out tonight as well?
  16. How is that a 5?
  17. Schloss stated on the “College Hockey Today” podcast that Zakreski will be out 3 months. Late January or early February is the likely timeline for a Zakreski return.
  18. Zakreski underwent surgery yesterday on his lower body injury. He is expected to be out a couple of months. Given that he hasn’t been ruled out for the season, I would guess it’s a broken bone and he’s back after Christmas. Wishing him a speedy recovery. He’s going to be a big part of this team at some point in the future.
  19. Wiebe, Livanavage, etc. It seems to be really good for their development. Hopefully this becomes a trend. There is a couple of guys projected to come in next year that I would like to see in juniors for another year.
  20. What a find by Bryn. Many NCAA teams wanted him for this season. He stayed another year in juniors to go to UND. Puck preps had him as a top ten defenseman in the WHL last season. He is going to be a stud.
  21. Unlike Sacha, Perron, and OMac, most of Minnesota’s core has local ties to their program. I would be really surprised if one of their core players hit the portal unless Bob is canned (he won’t be). The grass would not be greener for them, imo. Blue bloods generally do not lose players to the portal unless it’s off-ice issues or coaches being fired. Sacha probably stays if Berry is still here. With the other two, there probably was more to the story than the public is aware of.
  22. They will have to either load up in the portal or get a couple of CHL guys this offseason. Their projected freshman class next year is not very good. Their LJ Mooney hype was hilarious. This was supposed to be year 2 of Logan Cooley according to many gopher fans. Maybe Bob should have spent more time in Canada this offseason instead of cruising around Lake Minnetonka.
  23. Cody Croal’s hustle to the net/corner on Ollie’s goal is textbook. Coaches are going to absolutely love that in the film room. Seeing stuff like that tonight was so refreshing.
  24. This team plays so much better in front of Spoon. It’s his net for the foreseeable future. I thought nearly everyone was good tonight. I cannot wait to watch these freshmen grow.
  25. Yeah Ollie is really good. Really, really like his game.
