Saturday night with Duluth-Spicer's Revenge???
Siouxfancrazy92 replied to Wilbur's topic in Men's Hockey
The clock is ticking for those NHL draft picks. They don’t have time to set around and watch this coaching staff continue to be portal u. BB keeps saying that their all team first guys but we may find out that some or all of have to look out for their future hope of signing Pro. This coaching staff has no forward thinking skills. Can’t see past the tips of their noses. -
Friday thread vs UMD featuring Sporty Spice(r)

I know most on this site don’t care for #6. I was fortunate enough to meet and watch him during his time in JRs at SF. In Jrs he was a great player and had a record setting season for SF and what this coaching staff is doing to him is wrong. They flipped him from another D1 program to come to UND when another player opted out last minute. They knew he needed major shoulder surgery before coming to school but yet they still wanted him to come that year. In reality he wasn’t ready, but he listened to the coaches and trusted what they were saying. He has 36 collegiate games under his belt (basically 1 freshman season) and is expected to be perfect in games but I watch guys with over 100 games make the same mistakes yet he is the only one held accountable. I’m sorry but that is not development. Its going to be sad to see this kid force to leave UND over the mismanagement of his development. He is such an awesome humble kid…. its a shame that things have work out that way for him. -
Berry doesn’t have it in him to bench 25 and sit him in the stands. Remember, last year, he dressed for a game and stood on the bench, the whole time as punishment. My guess only to be a security blanket in case things get out of hand that game, and they were going to lose he would’ve played.

This team has a realistic possibility of losing multiple NHL draft picks to the transfer portal.
-
You can definitely see that there are some guys that are never held accountable and some guys that are scapegoats and held accountable. Not the way to run a good hockey team.
-
Agree. However, it’s becoming pretty obvious that the coaches have told Brent Johnson to transfer.

UND @ The Herb Stone Monument vs. JBU - Friday Gameday
Siouxfancrazy92 replied to stoneySIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Maybe the coaches need to figure out what they want this program to be. 1-2 yr guys or 4 yr guys. They had 9 freshman last year. Looks to me like they didn’t do a very good job of getting them ready last year. Don’t need 5 yr guys. They’re only here for themselves…one last push to sign pro deals. Put more focus on the 4 yr guys. Also, its pretty obvious that some of the d are held to a different level of accountability than others. U have 6 that has a total of 35 NCAA game making mistakes yes but he’s also making the same mistakes that 2/3/7 who have over 350 NCAA games combine r making. You want to get the defense attention don’t be scared to bench the veteran guys. Might tighten things up back there. -

Berry over thinks the lines to much. Relying on veteran guys to much. end the 5 th yr experiment. There’s a reason these guys haven’t turned pro. Maybe They don’t buy into the culture or are just bad in the locker-room. Play the guys you recruit…. Which r NHL draft pick for a reason. We have to be the only team in college hockey that prides themselves on send guys to the NHL but has no problem with scratching them. If I was a high end recruit I’d probably consider other schools as UND in not the only path to the show. -
Ward's Revenge on the Beaver(s): Saturday vs BSU

Sounds like they r worried Johnson may be contagious. Better to be safe than sorry with 2 big weeks coming up. -
I’m sorry did I miss the disclaimer on my ticket that said I would watch these young men play hockey and be perfect in every aspect of the game. Just asking for a friend.
-
I’m pretty sure that both these boys have a accomplished more than you have in hockey. Jr A, D1, NHL draft picks. Care to list your accomplishments?

Maybe recruits don’t want to play for a fanbase/local media as lunatic as ours.

Mistakes get made in every game…even at the NHL level. There going to happen. In Fri game….2 fwds left the puck right in the slot and skated away without it which I believe led to a goal. UND lives and dies by the stretch pass. Seems like they want to play a fast game. Even Brad talks about it on his pod cast this week. Sometimes the D had no option for outlets. Do we need to do a better job making pass to our team yes, but they can’t always be 75 foot ones. Maybe we need a system like Denver where the fwds support the D more in transition. the stats on plus minus show that several veteran F/D are off to a rough start. https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/1137/univ.-of-north-dakota?tab=stats&sort=pm

https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/1137/univ.-of-north-dakota?tab=stats&sort=pm Its not just the D that are struggling. The plus minus stats were completely different last year.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/1137/univ.-of-north-dakota?tab=stats&sort=pm These stats were completely different last season. Some many guys having a tough start to the season.

Everyone wants to keep calling out the def. On Sat night how many pucks got turned over in the neutral zone by fwds or fwds flying the zone without full control of the puck. All 5 players have to play accountable in the d zone first.
-
We already have enough def issues. 22-9 are -11 for the season. Fwds have to be responsible in the def zone as well as defensemen.
-
Sometimes u need to take your lumps and develop the players u recruit. Living through their mistakes early on than reaping the benefits in the end. Minn head coach said in his interview a few weeks ago that he has a lot of freshman this year but once they get past making their freshman mistakes they will be set for a really good team down the road.

Team is very inconsistent. Maybe its time to set some lines and let it ride for a couple weekends. Most are NHL draft picks for a reason. Go let them play their game.
