Win. I hope nothing but success for the UND basketball program. I want nothing more than for UND to be competitive again and win championships. That's the whole goal and point of a basketball program. To win. My whole point here is that UND has been trending in the wrong direction for the last 3.5 years. Something needs to change to turn this program around.
-
Since Sather took over: He has a 33% win rate. And 29% if you took out his first year with all Jones's guys No kids want to stay in the program. Consistently losing our best young players every year. We were a bottom 10 D1 team in the nation last year and are trending that direction again this year UND is now basically a D2 basketball team and D2 roster UND is not respected by opponents and viewed as an easy W in their schedule I would say that fan/community support has gone down. Especially last season and looking that way this year. Just to name a few things. I'm not so sure how you could say that the program is in a better spot since Sather took over. I just really can't see how anyone could say that.
-
So to answer my question from above, are you saying that UND is in an even worse place since Sather took over?
-
Let me ask you this, is the program in a better or worse place from when Sather first took the job?
-
Are you able to elaborate?
-
They will find as many excuses as they can to fit their narrative other than to face the fact at what got UND men's basketball into the mess that it is now. It is truly sad!
-
Your sarcasm is laughable! Really gets me every time We didn't mean to hurt your feelings Mrs. Sather!!

UND (6-9, 0-2) vs USD (7-8, 2-1) 1/5 7PM

My thoughts on this is that Brooks is not a point guard either... I don't think out offense would look much different with him running the point rather than Danielson. We need a legit PG in there and the only one we have is Trent. Otherwise I like it! -
Any of those at the D1 level?? My main point has always been that he can't coach and recruit at the D1 level. Which so far through 3.5 years he has proved that he can't. Never once said he can't coach a D2 team and be successful.
-
Thank you for the best wishes!
-
I played a full career of college basketball for a very successful program. I know what it takes to win.
-
You got it! Anything for you my man!
-
Or they played for a bottom 10 team in the nation... we are going to have to respectfully disagree completely on this then. Everything you listed is something that every single college basketball coach has had to deal with over the last 3-4 years. Others have dealt with those challenges differently and have been successful. Sather shouldn't get a pass for it all just because he's a 'nice guy'.....
-
I don't miss the days when we used to be competitive and win championships!! Losing and be a sorry basketball program is so much more fun!!
-
Just because other schools want them after their freshman year doesn't mean they were high level talent coming out of high school...... I'm afraid that's not how that works. And that is why UND will always be extremely average to below average in *most* sports. No accountability whatsoever. From the fans, from the AD, from anyone. People are just willing to sit here after 3.5 years and a 33% win rate saying "Let's give him some more time to rebuild and see if he can figure it out". He has done nothing but turn UND into a D2 program and a basketball program that NOBODY RESPECTS. It's a joke really. There are plenty of other young coaches out there that could turn this program around. Sather has shown he isn't the man for this job. That's fine though, sometimes things don't work out how you would like them to.
-
Omot, yes. The other two are good players but I wouldn't consider them high level talent. The only reason either of them had good freshman years is because UND was one of the worst teams in the nation and they could do whatever they wanted and had nothing to lose.

UND (6-8, 0-1) vs NDSU (3-11, 0-2) 12/30 7 PM

Danielson is a 8-10 minute a game guy. Nothing more. That is no personal knock on him. It is just a fact that he is a D2 level guy. And no one is worried about anybody leaving but 3 guys. Omot, Brooks, and Eaglestaff. Those are the only 3 guys that anybody is worried about keeping. If any of the other guys want to go find a new home, then be our guest! I'm sure there will be some D2's that will take them. -
Since when has Sather been able to recruit high end talent?? Other than this year, his other 3 years have been far from high end talent! Also, since when have his X's and O's been good?? We must have been watching different basketball teams the last 3.5 years because he has been a very very below average X's and O's coach with a significantly outdated philosophy on basketball. Sather has shown us over the last 3.5 years that he is not a D1 level coach. Sometimes the truth hurts but that is just the truth. It is time to move on from the Sather era and start being better than a bottom 10 worst D1 basketball team in the country!

Trent is the only legit PG on the team. He is a pass first point guard at that. Part of the reason why he posts up and backs his man down is 1. Because he can't shoot so they sag off him, but usually he has a mismatch with a smaller PG on him and 2. Because of the offense and spacing that Sather runs. There is no room for him to create off the dribble for others. The offense needs to be a 5 out spacing offense with tons of pick and pop with the occasional roll with TT and Trent. Eaglestaff and Omot creating off the kick outs from Trent. Norman spotting up and letting the 3 ball fly. They need to get out in transition and create easy buckets. Picking up the pace and tempo for UND would do them wonders!! The pass away and then double pin down for Brady Danielson offense that Sather is forcing them to run is just atrocious and not going to get it done at any level with the type of players that UND has. It is such easy fixes and changes that can be made to make this team competitive in the Summit. -
Wow... I read that completely wrong!!! Either way, he seems like he knows basketball and that the players like him

Trent does that but Sather doesn't like him even though he is a captain. Shows that all the guys like him but the head coach doesn't for some reason... We need to see a lineup of 1. Trent 2. Norman 3. Eaglestaff 4. Omot 5. TT for extended minutes and see what they can do. A lineup that can be a threat to score more than 20 points in a half against your in state rivals, at home, with the biggest crowd in 5 years... -
What are people’s thoughts on Steven Aldridge? From watching him interact with players before the game and during the game it seems like they really respect him and will listen to him. He was listed 11th on an ESPN “40 under 40” list of top coaches under 40. Young guy and seems like he really knows basketball.

I used to not be a fan of Danielson and have always thought he was a D2 level player. I still think he is a D2 level skill and size player but he just seems to always make something good happen when he’s in for a few minutes at a time. Whether it be a big offensive rebound, an And 1, or getting a loose ball. I think he can be a 8-10 minute a game guy on this team but nothing more. Enough of this being our starting PG and playing 30 minutes a game. -

Because in Sather’s eyes Danielson is the star player on the team. Danielson is a good role player. 10 minutes a game nothing more.
