I disagree. This game is showing once again we don’t have the right players. The staff haven’t been able to recruit the athletes that are able to excel at this level in my opinion. But I understand you see it differently that’s why we have these forums.

You are right. So many people in the USA want to come to Grand Forks. There is nothing we can do about it on this forum, and we can ask for new coaches to be hired but look at how hires have panned out at UND over the years it isnt pretty. Expectations are not consistent with reality.

I disagree I don’t think the freshmen were any better at all. I was hopeful for this season but watching these games the teams we play are just better. I don’t see much in this freshmen group that demonstrates they can lead this team to winning games in the summit

Another rough game. UTSA did look like a good program though.

Getting some guaranteed W's even if it doesn't help the ladies prepare for conference. Coaches padding the schedule and fans still have to pay to watch these boring games.

I was really hoping volleyball would take some big steps this year but this is a rough start.

Brookings is south of grand forks and closer to Minneapolis and Omaha. And South Dakota is the better of the Dakota’s. People don’t want to live in Grand Forks so naturally UND struggles to attract coaches and recruits.

Hopefully just needing lots of reps as the season goes on. As bad as Portland is we look a LOT better this year.

I agree with the post that Chaves is an issue with hires but from what I have seen over the years good coaches don’t come to Grand Forks. UND is not a desirable place to come and coach and Chaves makes that worse.

Can you provide any other reasons why UND can’t hire good coaches or recruit good athletes?

Brookings yes. Both are South of Grand Forks and closer to civilization. As to why UND doesn’t do better hiring coaches I would think a large aspect of this is people don’t want to move to Grand Forks. For hiring in volleyball or WBB could definitely try hiring an NSIC head coach but men’s basketball did that and the fan base doesn’t seem to believe that is going well.

I think so too. But I also wonder how coaches convince kids to come and play in Grand Forks in the first place

That was entertaining tonight. The ladies looked good and I think there were a lot of positives to take away. Better than what I was expecting.

Looking into the history books soccer had winning seasons in 2018 and 2019 ironically under the previous coach. So his excuses that you cant win at UND are disproven by his own work. I will still add that I think that instead of hiring the assistant they should have hired someone with more experience, but I cannot imagine many coaches would want to work with this athletics director.

I agree with you it was a very good interview. I think there is some real optimism building for this season.

It looks as though there is some work being done out at the soccer field does this mean the team won their inequity complaint?

She would be a big asset if healthy.
