A ND school joining a Minnesota league is pretty unlikely. I still wouldn't be surprised to see a AAA midget team with a big time sponsor or a number of big time sponsors get created. 1-1 now Minot and Davies. Can't see either team upsetting Central.

I think a AAA midget team like Shattuck is what GF should do. Have Rydell or Vaaler sponsor them.

I wondered what happened to him after high school. He was so good at finding the soft spot heading up the ice. Some called him a cherry picker, but I thought he was really good at picking his spots and scoring when he had his chances.

There was no better setting for the state tournament than the old REA. Perfect size facility for the event. The tournament had incredible atmosphere and a real feel to it. The tension in some of those title games there was just surreal. I was at the first ever state tournament game at the new REA. Red River was playing against Bismarck and you could hear conversations people were having from the other side of the rink. It's just too big for ND high school hockey. Especially when the attendance has fallen like it has.

Things that went really well for Minot that year: -Tournament in Fargo. -Devils Lake beating Red River at EDC although they got outshot by like 25 shots. Minot avoided RR or Central first round. -As previously mentioned.....unreal goaltending. 98 shots-95 Saves -Fargo South Shanley kid taking a five minute major in the third period with them up 1-0 in the semifinals. Minot scored twice on that power play, tacks on empty netter, wins 3-1. -Central absolutely rolling through Bismarck High in the other semifinals. Think they thought that was the title game. You are right, Minot has sent much better teams to the state tournament, but that team found a way to win three 2-1 games in three days.

I was owed that for 23 years or something like that of losing in the first round.... Minot got an incredible draw in 2015, and had a goaltending performance in all three games that was nothing short of heroic from the Effertz kid. They played a perfect game against Central, and probably lose 9 out of 10 times to that Central team. If they manage to get by Davies I don't think history will repeat itself in Fargo.

You said exactly what I've been thinking about Pogo. I thought he could be a 20 goal scorer this year. If Jost stays he is the captain. If not he will make his NHL debut next year with what the avs have.

I've never been so heartbroken leaving a hockey game as I was in 2003. West Fargo scores two goals from below the goal line against my beloved Magi to win in OT. Add to it that Minot missed a gaping wide open net in the closing seconds of regulation. It was all my roommate's girlfriends fault because she said "shutout" late in the game with Minot up 1-0. The hockey gods showed up and West Fargo scored literally 10 seconds later, and the curse of the first round loss lived on for Minot.
