  1. I agree about the entrance, not sure about Nickleback but if it's done right it can be very intimidating. Here is the VT intro...

EDIT: I actually went to youtube and did a search for college football entrance songs. Most of the FBSschools do have some kind of a video and song intro. Most of them break into the school song immediately after. Watching all those videos has got me pumped for football season to start! Can't wait for the Sioux home opener!!!

  2. I realize that there is no guarantee regarding getting into the MVFC along with the Summit. I guess the question for me is, given both options, which would you rather have? Forget all the BS (I know, there's a lot). Lets say you can choose. Doesnt the MVFC have an autobid too? I'd much rather be playing the schools in the MVFC/Summit than the schools in the Big Sky, ESPECIALLY if Montana were to leave. The consistent travel costs would be tough on the atheltic department. Plus, which games will fans consistently travel too in the Big Sky? The closest school geographically is in Bozeman, MT, which is over 800 miles away from GF. At least the fans would be able to travel to the Dakota schools consistently AND have the rivalry games that everyone knows.

I guess we just agree to disagree. That's fine. Apparently I am in the minority anyways. :glare:

Well I guess that means we will end up with the Summit...you know since the Minority tends to get their way :glare::glare:

I voted for Summit/MVFC for the reasons which you have already stated.

  3. In the spirit of the Fargo Marathon taking place tomorrow, I thought I would revive this old thread. Is anyone planning on running any of the races tonight or tomorrow? I will be running the second leg of the relay (8.3 miles). I will also be sure to be wearing my Sioux gear!

  4. prolly wont ever post my observations here agian if im getting rediculed for typing errors. kinda hard when ur this old and still learning the ins and outs of a computer

Hey gfhockey, just joking around a bit thus the wink. I do appreciate you posting your observations and hope you continue doing so!

  5. I went to watch the scrimmage too for a bit as I was biking by and decided to enter to watch. Couple observations

Landry only player in red shirt.... dk why they want to protect him so much... is he that brittle?

Goska had a lot of nic eplays when i was their....looked 5 times bete than landry IMO

Goodman is going to have digger anderson numbers when he leaves here

O line looked good against he siox good D line

no bamba their or maybe i jsut missed him

townsend (sp?) looked really good too... one dropped ball that i saw

This is the only word you're concerned about spelling wrong??? :silly:

Thanks for the info...I wasn't able to make it over as I was hoping to.

  6. From Memorial Stadium:

"We wanted to let everyone know that the team is having a scrimmage tomorrow (April 17th) at Memorial Stadium at 1:00"

It is open to the public. Check it out and let us know how it goes.

Thanks...if I do get the chance to make it over there, I will post some thoughts afterwards.

  7. I believe its because until ndsu actually fills their schedule for next year and the year after and the year after with 6 home games like Taylor says he will do than UND and Faison still hold a little bit of negotiating power. Right now Faison looks a little silly but he is also the one who has to schedule 7 non conference games per year. He can decide every other year is the way to go anytime he wants. Taylor is not going to pull that offer. If he says no but still doesn't have his schedules filled for more than 2 or 3 years out than who looks silly. It doesn't hurt UND and Faison to hold out. If Taylor can only schedule a DII or lower this year for a 6th home game people are going to have to ask why he didn't take UND's every year offer.

Now back to SR deciding its best to drop the nickname.

Again...not sure why Faison has made his decision but this is more plausible than idea that the nickname has anything to do with it.

  8. you bring up a great point. i never thought of it before, but is it possible that faison shot down taylor's offer of an every other year und/ndsu football game because he feels that scenario reduces the need to get rid of the logo/nickname quickly?

i don't think the logic is sound, but i could see faison thinking along the line of:

"if i shoot down this every other year option, then everybody involved will have to find a way to get und into the same football conference as ndsu. one catalyst to that goal is to get other und sports in the same conference as ndsu (ie. the summit league). the quickest way into the summit league (in faison's mind) is by getting rid of the sioux nickname/logo. therefore, i'll shoot this every other year option down because that furthers my cause, which is getting rid of the sioux nickname/logo".

just a theory, but it's not far-fetched by any means and it would at least offer some explanation as to why faison shot down the every other year und/ndsu football game option because no other good explanation has been offered yet.

Wrong...Summit does not sponser football. I'm not sure why Faison doesn't want an every other year contract, but the nickname is not the reason why.

  9. Why can't the Dakota 4 help make the Summit into our own version of the Horizon, rivaling them in quality?

I think given time and with the resources we have being the flagship public, research universities of 2 states, one of us can build our programs to the level of Butler in MBB.

This is something I actually agree with you on...

  10. I was just watching SportsNation on ESPN and they mentioned that he had just signed a new contract with UNI. I bet the first thing he asked for was an out clause.

Just in case his Alma maters job becomes available! :D:D

  11. Let me preface this post by saying I agree that it's a positive sign that 1004 people signed the petition. However, keep in mind that the petition they signed asks for a vote of the people. It doesn't say that they will vote in favor of the nickname if a vote is allowed. I recall reading or seeing a Standing Rock Tribal member who was against the nickname stating he signed the petition because he felt that it should be decided by the people of Standing Rock and not some committee.

Again, I view this as a positive development, but let's not get too excited yet...

  12. I'll be glad it's finally over, one way or another and that UND will be in the Summit. That's all I've cared about the entire time. However, I don't see anything happening of significant before the June deadline. The SBoHE will not let it drag on beyond that.

Hey mplsbison...Nothings happening so you shouldn't need to post. We'll let you know when something is happening as you requested.

  13. How is this news? There's nothing really new...

But I suppose the Herald is going to print something every time someone on SR sneezes? :D

Let me know when something actually happens on SR.

DEAL...no more posts by you until I notify you that something of importance has happened on Standing Rock! :D

  14. Does anyone know how/when/where this cheer started?

I love it cause other teams hate it.

Great hearing it in throughout St Paul after winning the Final Five.

    :D

I'm not exactly sure but the first time I remember hearing it was at the Old Ralph in the mid 90's. I want to say either '94-'95 or '95-96'. It may have started earlier but it was still fairly new (I believe) because the "yea yea Sioux" response didn't have the "crowd support" it does now.

  15. Anyone going to Wylde Tymes on Thursday? If so, what would be a good time to head there? Hopefully we beat the Bulldogs so we can get a crack at Denver. No offense to UMD, but it would be nice to play a team like Denver prior to the NCAA's since they are a team that is capable of winning it all. As well as UND has been playing, I would like to see how we stack up against a contender as we head to the National Tournament.

  16. what got frattin in the suspension I believe was the distance he went to hit wehrs and his admission he wanted to lay out a big hit. we can be fortunate that it isn't more than one game as it could have affected our ncaa game. numerous people on this board have been up in arms that the wcha hasn't done anything about hits like this and now they do we are all upset because it was one of ours. if the shoe had been on the other foot and frattin was on the receiving end we would be asking for the death penalty. the situation is what it is and frattin stepped over the line and now has to sit out a game. i said this in an earlier thread so we'll win 4-3 instead of 5-3. let's move on and I'm pretty sure this will fire up the boys even more and should we win frattin will have fresh legs come fri night.

Exactly...we can't have it both ways. A one game suspension seems right. No need to try and rationalize the hit or break it down frame by frame etc...
