  1. Twins are done so there probably aren't to many people around here interested in baseball. My team is still around, but if Brooks Conrad has anything to say about it, they should be done after tonights game. Thankfully he will be riding the bench tonight. Bobby Cox has decided to put Glaus in at third and move Infante over to second. My fear it is too little too late.

I predict we will be seeing a Yankees vs. Phillies World Series...

  2. Ok, so todays game was pretty ugly to watch and many people are frustrated. Right now our record stands at 2-4 with five games left to play. I only see one victory left on the schedule which would be the Lamar game. That would make us 3-8 on the year with our wins being against a DII team, an FCS team that was winless last year and only win this year was against a DII, and a first year FCS school. I think it's safe to say the UND football is heading in the wrong direction.

  3. It does sound like UND is plagued with some key injuries though. There is nothing that can screw up a season like injuries creating some weak spots that another team can exploit.

Every team has injuries. UND was dominated in every aspect of the game today, especially in coaching department. The coaches did not put players in position to be successful or to make plays...IMO.

  4. I just don't get why you play off of the receivers 10-15 yds when you have a 3 and 23 and you end up giving 27 yards to the other team almost every time??? How do you not make some kind of adjustment on the defense when you have given up multiple 3rd and long situations over and over??? Any ideas???

They have been doing it all year in their games against fbs/fcs competition...I too don't understand. Perhaps the coaches don't trust their kids to make a play. Alot of the shortcomings by this years team are directly related to coaching, gameplanning etc. Hopefully our AD sees this and does something about it.

  5. I know many people keep saying we are a young team and that we are recruiting well and we should give it another year or so. I have to say I don't see it. Our players are not fundamentally sound when it comes to positioning, tackling, and discipline. It doesn't matter how good an athlete is if you are not fundamentally sound. I tend to agree with dlsioux in that we need to see an overhaul with the coaching staff. We also need to pony up some cash to bring some decent calibre coaches. If we stick with Mussman, we are stuck with mediocrity at best.

  6. This game is tough to watch. I missed the first quarter but from the second quarter on, it's been all SUU. The Sioux cannot sustain any kind of a drive. The defense can't get off the field and is wearing down in part due to the ineptitude of the offense. I have no idea how this game is so close... (score wise, not stat wise).

  7. Despite what appeared to be some competitive matchups (and a surprising start in Game 2 by Cincinnati), its looking like all four series could be done in 3. These early blowout series really dampen the excitement and the TV ratings. Hopefully we see some comebacks as the series changes location and one or more goes to a Game 5. If not, then maybe the LCS and World Series will provide the drama and excitement.

Thanks to a late rally late last night, the Braves evened their series with the Giants. Being a Braves fan, I stayed up to watch the whole thing. Braves have their ace, Tim Hudson, throwing on Sunday. Since they have the best home record in baseball, I like their chances in the series now that they got a split on the road.

  8. How much would it cost to put the players names on the back of the their jerseys so we can be big time?

How about we don't give Hakstol a 3% "cost of living" wage increase next year and use that $7,000 for it? Is that enough?

So are you saying schools such as Penn State and Notre Dame among many others, aren't "big Time?" Personally, I don't like the names on the back of jerseys...especially in college. Joe Pa said it best...

  9. I hope that everyone that has the opportunity to, will go to tonight's game in Fargo to support the Sioux Volleyball Team against the bison.

I wish I could make it there. Just too far away.

    GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!!

    GO SIOUX!!!

I will be there. I have 4 tickets and right now, I believe there is only two of us going. If anyone is interested in a ticket pm and I'll let you know if I still have them.

  10. Next Thursday could be epic. Get there early if you want a seat. We had just over a thousand show up tonight for SUU. Tomorrow night might be the first game under a thousand in about a year due to the UNI FB game being ot TV at the same time. The NDSU/UND game will most likely set a BBF record. The place actually seats a little under 1300, but we've packed 1800 in there in the past. And wear light clothing. It was pretty toasty in there tonight with only a thou, I can't image what Thursday will be like if it's a nice day.

I've got my tickets and looking forward to it!

  11. This is what I was saying on another topic in the Football forum. The FBS wins are exciting and they garner a lot of positive media coverage. But the bottom line at both UND and NDSU is playoff success and championships (both conference and national). Without those, the FBS wins become nothing more than a curious diversion.

A diversion which gives the University and it's football program regional and national recognition. Which in turn does help with recruiting. I know that making it to the playoffs and winning championships will do the same thing. However, we are not eligible for a few years yet. Say what you want about NDSU's blue print for the transition, bottom line is, they are recruiting a better quality athlete than what UND has been the last few years. Winning agains an FBS team, or at least being competitve will do wonders for UND with recruiting.

  12. The ladies won again today in straight sets.

We will get an idea how we stack up to the Bison this weekend. We play Drake tomorrow and SU plays them on Sunday!

Speaking of the bison...anyone else planning to head to Fargo for the September 16th matchup? I've got my tix for it! :)

  13. It appears as though the new field turf is now being worked on...

    http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=58538&SPID=6384&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=204985843&DB_OEM_ID=13500

In the article, there was also mention of a baseball tournament the team would be hosting next spring. Is the schedule out for the baseball team? Anyone know which teams might be participating in this tournament?

“The turf is going to benefit baseball in Grand Forks from the start of spring throughout the summer,” Kraft said. “There will not be as much traffic on the field, there will be a lot of cost savings involved, especially on the maintenance side of things – no more dragging the field, repacking the mound and batter’s box.

“When there are tournaments, like the one UND will host in the spring, the time between games will be cut down dramatically.

  14. Sioux beat San Jose St 3-0.

Tonight's game vs Gonzaga, and Sioux would likely be favored.

Most difficult match may be vs Drake Saturday night.

Nice strong showing for the first game of the year...granted San Jose St only had one win last year. I may try to get to one of the games tomorrow.

  15. I'm not a Nickelback fan whatsoever, so I couldn't even begin to tell you what song it is. A person standing next to me during the rehearsal told me it was Nickelback, so I'm taking their word for it. And apparently I'm wrong about big schools coming out to something other than the school song. Maybe I'm just used to how it's been. Either way, I don't like it. But if it gets the crowd into it and makes the Alerus Center a harder and more intimidating place to play, then I might just have to get used to it. I think the fact that the athletic department has all but taken the marching band out of the equation it what has really pissed me off.

Do you know if they intend to still play the School song. I don't see anything wrong with having the team gather in the endzone as the Nickelback song is playing with an intro video. They could break into the school song immediately after all the players make it to the sideline.

  16. I am pumped too. UND should do either that, Welcome to the Jungle or even Thunderstruck. Which Nickelback song are they coming out too. Just remember at Memorial Stadium it used to be too cold to have a band out there period. So I don't mind the entrance song being something to get the place rocking...and I hope Northeastern St. will be shaking from the noise and from the hits we will put on them. I am getting tickets for this one.

A good song, but definitely don't want to do this one as I believe it is used by a certain school 70 miles to south of Grand Forks...

  17. I agree about the entrance, not sure about Nickleback but if it's done right it can be very intimidating. Here is the VT intro...

EDIT: I actually went to youtube and did a search for college football entrance songs. Most of the FBSschools do have some kind of a video and song intro. Most of them break into the school song immediately after. Watching all those videos has got me pumped for football season to start! Can't wait for the Sioux home opener!!!
