They had a good program back in the 70's, but since then, it's been all down hill for them. I suppose it's difficult to attract top players to their campus when they're competing with Michigan, Michigan St., Wisconsin, Minnesota, and even North Dakota, who all have top programs. With their history as of late, why would top end players want to play in Houghton?

Tech playing solid hockey thus far. They have nothing to lose, so they'll definitely give it there all this weekend. If they don't walk away with two wins, they're done for the year. Sioux just have to keep their feet moving and do what they know how to do best...play Fighting Sioux hockey!

It will be interesting. I think if he gets to 45 with 7 or 8 games left, he's going to up the amount of shots he takes to try to get there, which will be fun to watch, because he already leads the team with shots. I also think his teammates (especially linesmates Zajac and Langenbrunner) will be trying to help him get there by feeding him the puck more. However, I've watched virtually every game Zach's played in the NHL, and unless he gets on a goal scoring terror, I don't think he'll make it, but he'll come close. I do hope I'm wrong!

No, I don't think he'll reach 50 this year. Don't get me wrong...I hope he does, but I don't think he will. I would love to see him at least tie Gionta's team record though.

Basketball wouldn't be so bad if they'd allow more checking, and quit giving them 17 timeouts each half! Play the game already! The last 2 minutes of a game should not last 25 minutes!

I'm going to take the negative route, as that always tends to work out best for me with the Sioux....so no, I don't think we can win it all. Not a chance.

It's been a great season. I remember reading a post back in December that the Sioux wouldn't win 3 more games this season. I wish I still knew which thread that was in, simply so I could see if the person who posted it has jumped on the bandwagon now. Just seemed quite humerous, especially for a Hak team, to predict in December that we didn't have 3 more wins in us. Now, I'll admit that I didn't think the Sioux would have the best season this year, and I definitely didn't think they'd win the McNaughton, so it's definitely been a treat to watch this team gel together. I love that Minnesota and BC are on the verge of missing the national tournament, and I'm hoping that this team has what it takes to get over the hump and bring us home another national title. It's been 9 years this April, and that's getting to be too damn long to wait for a title for us greedy Sioux fans!!! But let's focus on tomorrow night first...finish out the regular season strong, and then go for the Broadmoor!!! GO SIOUX!!!!

I agree that goalies can wear down towards the end of the year, but I don't know if I necessarily agree that it happens to goalies in college hockey. Teams who play 60-80 games in a season, yes. IMO, athletes in college hockey are too well conditioned to wear down like at the next level or up in Canada (where they play more games...not that they're less of athletes). Injuries can take time to heal, but not just regular season games. Again, nothing against Walski, but Walski's not Kollar. Andy came in as a top recruited goalie, and had to wait his time to play...especially since he had Karl to compete against. BE is clearly an elite goalie, whose found his groove in his game. Goalie changes can change the way a team plays, and I simply don't agree with that risk. Now...if Hak chooses to start Walski tomorrow, I'll still be hoping for the same outcome and hoping Walski has a great outing...I'll just be a bit more nervous for next weekend.

Not that I don't want the cup in GF next weekend, but why wasn't the cup in Madison this weekend? I know there was a chance for Denver to win it, but we had a chance both nights if we didn't do it tonight. Is it team's choice? I know I've seen it in the past teams skating with the cup on opposing team ice. I guess it's relevant, but just wondering.

Sorry, don't agree with your philosophy. Don't change things up when they're working. Go into the playoffs strong. Nothing against Walski...just want our team to be a well oiled machine going in.
