  1. Parise with a goal (GWG) and an assist in tonight's Devils/Hurricane's game. Zajac with an assist. Devils looked like a solid team for the first time in about a month.
  2. Great fight for Lee. The only shots he got in were at the back of the guy's head.
  3. "Though Bob Probert and Tie Domi often earned their way to the penalty box, their were also numerous time where they were simply Commodored as well, placing their team at a disadvantage."
  4. Won't happen this year. It will be interesting to see how team's play against him next year. They've really been playing him a lot closer, which has slowed down his pace. Zach's going to have to come up with more moves. Also, at the beginning of the year, Parise was getting a lot more tip ins in front of the net. He kind of shares his time there now with Zajac, so those have reduced. Actually, I tend to notice Travis in front a lot more than Parise. Zajac's really grown in that area throughout this season.
  5. Parise gets his 43rd goal of the game. Zajac passes it passed Smaby to Parise, who snaps it in for the GWG. Bochenski was also in the lineup tonight in the Devils/Lightning game. Parise also had 2 assists, Zajac had 3.
  6. That's correct. Bruins, Flyers and Rangers were all very physical against the Devils and completely dominated the game. Devils almost beat the Blackhawks and Hurricanes, but lost close ones. Games become much more physical once playoffs start, and the Devils will be in a world of hurt when that happens. I want to see Parise and Zajac win a cup, but with this current makeup, they don't stand a chance.
  7. Can Miller and Martens now except fee's for the show, since they're no longer college athletes?
  8. Jersey's team is quickly folding, after being so strong all year. Their defensemen have stopped challenging forwards and are standing flat footed, and Brodeur is facing a ton of shots, thus letting in more goals. The other Achille's heal for this team, any team who plays physical against them usually ends up winning. That's been Jersey's week spot for the past 4 or 5 years (since losing Stevens). They'll be lucky to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, unless they seriously alter their play.
  9. They'd give them admittance tomorrow night, so they could say a WCHA team made it to the FF.
  10. Inconclusive goes to the ruling on the ice.
  11. I'm not saying they played great, but there's multiple things that didn't happen that couldn't happen. If Dunc's scores the goal on the wide open net...things may have been different. If Sioux win the faceoff with 5.9 seconds left, things WOULD have been different. I saw Finley get beat, and I cursed him at the moment, but overall, the team collapsed. They played a solid 13 minutes in the 3rd period, dominating the Wildcats, and then went back on their heels and let UNH bring it to them. It's a team game.
  12. Fire Hakstol!!!!! Better game for the Sioux today than either one last week. I didn't expect them to win, but of course I'm disappointed. Wanted the boys to have a crack at BU. Oh well, getting used to not winning the big one. Perhaps since everyone is stating every year that the "Skate For 8" starts now, we should quit using that, and state something else..."Skate for 8th....Place!" We'd feel much better! Okay, just trying to stay upbeat, even though our favorite team is out of the tournament. Let's go Duluth!!!! Make the WCHA proud!!!
  13. Toews almost put it away...Hawks eventually did. Zubrus couldn't get off the ice to get Parise out there again.
  14. Darn! You need to warn us before you post something like that! Burned my retinas!
  15. I knew that too. Okay, I did pick Notre Dame, but I still won't be surprised to see Bemidji win that game. On the other hand, I won't be surprised if Notre Dame plays a solid game tomorrow, and the next game, and the next game, and the next game. OSU and BU...well, I don't know if OSU can even come close to skating with BU. North Dakota though needs to focus on the home team, because they'll give them all they can handle, and maybe more.
  16. IF BU or Notre Dame doesn't make it there, it could make for a very interesting FF. Well, if both aren't there, it would definitely be a fun one to watch. However, I think Jeff Jackson has Notre Dame rolling. They made it to the finals last year, and they're back again this year. I tried to change on my brackets today, with Notre Dame winning it, but Jim must have shut down changes an hour early or so, because it wouldn't let me change it...so now I'm like a lot of others with BU winning it all.
  17. I wouldn't downplay Bemidji at all. I believe it was Denver's last title run, that Bemidji gave them the toughest game of the tournament. Bemidji will show ready to play. They know that they're the big time underdog, and I bet those boys are loving it right now. I picked BU, but I won't be a bit surprised if Bemidji pulls out the upset. Now, in North Dakota's game, I picked against North Dakota in my weekly INCH Pick 'Em. Everytime I've picked against them this year...they proved me wrong. Let's hope that trend continues. Honestly though, I picked against them early in the week because it was fresh off last weekend, and I wasn't happy with how we played last weekend. I won't be surprised if we're headed home tomorrow either.
  18. Parise just put in #42 on the year, with an assist from Zajac.
  19. Yeah...me too. Unfortunately, I also picked DU and Michigan. At least I had UMD beating DU tomorrow, but I had Michigan going to the FF.
  20. I think it's too early to tell. If he has a stellar performance tonight, he may have to do some serious decision making when it's all done. He may have to have some great performances next weekend to as well though. Right now, I'd predict he's back for his senior year.
  21. It's essentially been the same PP for the past 3 years, just with different guys on the PP unit. I seem to recall saying 3 years ago against BC, "Shoot the puck!!!" Lee finally shot it and they scored. Only problem was that there was 12 seconds left in the game. This crossing of point men does what? I've wondered that for the past 3 years as well. Perhaps there's a purpose but I have failed to see the purpose of it in the past 3 years. I also seem to notice it more come playoff time. This is the playoffs. I don't care if it's not the nationals yet. You come to the F5 ready to play. If you lose a heartbreaker, at least you exhibited heart! These guys did not do that this weekend. I won't be surprised one bit if our season is done next weekend.
  22. But it happens. Parise did the same thing to the Russian goaltender back in '03 WJC tournament. Maybe it was nerves, or more likely, it was just a bad choice. I don't fault him for the 2nd goal. Couldn't tell, but it looked like he was blinded by the d-man, who shouldn't have allowed the Duluth shot to get by him.
  23. Good luck to the Bulldogs tomorrow night. Beat Denver. The Sioux didn't play terrible all night...just when it counted. Rebound tomorrow and bring home a win to head into the national tournament on a high note.
  24. Isn't that Sandy's style of hockey? Defense first, especially with a 2 or more goal lead? They take their chances when they get them, but they'll protect their own end first. EDIT: I agree with having to shoot from the blue line, or whereever in the offensive zone. They don't have to be pretty goals. 4 shots on a 5 minute PP is not good!
  25. 9 minutes of PP time that period and couldn't find the twine once? Not looking good for the Sioux. Not the type of hockey you want to be playing in March. Stalock all in the head of these guys. Only down by 2, so if we find the net in the first half of the 3rd, we're still in it. If Duluth scores one more, we'll be playing a matinee game tomorrow.
