Looks like Aldi Grocery store is coming to Grand Forks in the old Hornbackers building. Some good news on a new business coming to town. I will welcome the competition and low prices. I have shopped several times at the one in Fargo and really liked it.

So we fire our coach Brewster. Then we make his assistant coach Bernard the interim coach instead of a national search then. She wins 2 games with basically the same team that got 6th in the league the year before. We miss out on the summit league tournament this year. We have a national search for a new coach and we end up with the assistant coach of the coach we fired and who won 2 games.... Sorry I know I need to let this go and support the coach, the difference between me and the homer fans on here, if they dont do well they become irrelevant to me. I so wanted to be able to go cheer on a good women's team too... I am not going to watch a 2 win team that looks terrible, ill go down the interstate a few miles and watch NDSU. They did it right with their new hire and he is proving it in year 2.
-
Again another Homer comment that only someone who played at UND or was a coach at UND can be hired at UND. Any influence from a coach from over a decade ago should not matter other then a character reference. This philosophy maybe worked in D2 but its not going to work with D1 when there is a lot more competition. I am new UND fan and never went to the school here, so i am looking at it from a outsiders position.

I still feel Chaves has made two questionable hires with UND Volleyball and Women's basketball teams. Both hires were assistant coaches and both have struggled. I guess time will tell if they were right or not. I don't want to see UND go down the same path as NDSU women's basketball....

I think he is talking about all the new scholarship offers are going to Michigan girls. The current roster was recruited by Coach Brewster. The 5 freshman were heralded as the future of UND basketball and I think they took a step back this year other then Megan Zander
-
So you are saying all the Michigan girls we have offered scholarships to over the past year had nothing to do with Assistant Coach Motherwell who is a native of Michigan? Coach Bernard made the decision to talk to all those girls? I don't believe that a assistant coach has no say in the recruiting of a player, yes the head coach has the final say on who gets the scholarship. If an assistant coach doesn't want to offer or does want to offer I believe their opinion matters to the head coach. Just like I believe Coach Bernhard had her say on recruits on the current team.
-
I cant believe all the homers on this page. Coach Bernard had a hand in recruiting these players. She also had a year of coaching a team that pretty much was the same team as the previous year with another year of experience. Yet the record was one of the worse records in UND history. I am sure Coach is a good person and a great basketball legend at UND, but that doesn't mean she is a good coach. UND needs to take this opportunity to get fresh blood in here to maybe have recruiting connections outside of this region. If they don't take this opportunity for a fresh start this could hold us back years from progressing with the other schools in the summit league. If you look at the experience between what Coach Kallhoff has done in his career compared to Coach Bernhard. It shouldnt even be a close decision. The only reason she gets this position is because she is a UND alum and (no offense here) female. If you go by experience he gets the job. She coached high school basketball, assistant coach at the school she played for. Then one year as interim coach and ended up with one of the worst records in school history.

You have to be kidding me We are going to be lucky to come out with two wins let alone 20 point wins.
-
Agreed. And one step further. I have been looking daily on ESPN at their schedule for Saturday and the game is still not listed. Not sure how much more you can do for looking up the information then going to the site that is suppose to have the game televised.
-
Thank you ! And that's awesome !
-
This may have been discussed before but will the game be on ESPN 3 or plus ?

Western Illinois beat NDSU one game this year. I think the Hawks are going to be lucky to win one this weekend. They dont play Omaha until the last series of the year. This could determine which team makes the tournament or not..
-
So basically all of Coach Jones players are now gone accept for PR. It will be up to Coach Sather to sink or swim from here out. He needs to be able to show he can bring division 1 talent to UND.
-
South Dakota just beat Kansas City 92 to 34 at Kansas City. This is going to be a long season
-
I watched all the games last year and watched in person most of them. I could tell that Aanen got in Sather's doghouse right away. So of course it was a mutual decision. But what I want to know is what he did to get in that doghouse? He brought in a bunch of defensive guys but has no one that can shoot. I love Brady Danielson and his determination and grit, but he cant hit a open shot. This team could use one guy that can hit a bucket and maybe isn't great on defense. Obviously defense doesn't win games. So I think he DID "get away". Not to mention he is a North Dakota kid, cut him some slack.
-
I wasnt sure where to post this, but I see Aanen Moody scored 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting and 5 of 7 from 3 point land. I still dont know how we let a North Dakota kid that can shoot the ball get away? I get he was not great on defense. This years team seems to be improved on defense but they cant hit the broadside of a barn with their shooting. Especially from the 3 point line. Sure would be nice to have him back knocking down 3's to open it up with PR.
-
I have not seen any improvements from the players either. In fact I think they have taken a step backwards. These same players looked better and won more games last year with basically the same roster. They only lost one senior from last year. I get some players are hurt but we don't look good at all out there. I also agree these players were recruited by this coach and that shouldn't be used as an excuse.
-
I personally hope they look for a new coach next year. Someone who will have a fresh set of eyes on the program. You can see what NDSU did with finding the right coach. He brings a new attitude to that team. This team is essentially the same team minus one player as last year. In my opinion with just the first 3 games I think they look worse then last year and have taken steps backwards. The freshman 5 are not seeing as many minutes and the upperclassman seem to be carrying all the minutes and I dont know that they deserve those minutes. As a outsider looking in I believe our team needs to go in a whole different direction.

I change my vote to Tyree and Nero....

Impressed with Ihenacho !!! He is going to be good !

Finally playing like I hoped they could. See a little fire and hustle in them tonight!

Ditto

I think there is A LOT of thin skin on here. I didnt take anything away from the way she is recruiting or that I dont think she will do a good job. I get she needs to stay on top of recruiting but I have never seen a head coach let alone a interim coach make as many offers as I have seen to underclassmen. Alot of Sophomore offers. A new coach could come and not like these offers. Are they able to rescind them? They should just make her the head coach and let her do her thing.
-
I have noticed A lot of new offers coming from the new coaching staff. They may be very good offers. I am just questioning that they have this many offers without a full time coach hired. Isn't coach just a interim coach?

Not sure where to post this... I saw a news interview out of Bismarck with Aanen Moody. He basically said that Coach Sather asked him to leave and that there wasn't a place for him on team. I know his defense was not great, but I did think he brought some shooting we needed. I agree with Coach's philosophy about defense first, but couldn't there be a place for a sharp shooter kid from North Dakota on this team? Unless he was some sort of cancer on the team that I don't know about. Any thoughts?
