Great hire ! I have a feeling this wasn't Mals hire. I think she is on a tight lease now and better do the things the university feels is best. I don't see her happy hiring another coach with a more decorated career then hers and just got done beating her team. Now I hope to see a few more girls in portal and start fresh ! This hire could be our future coach ?

But that is my point. Let him go to UMary for two years. Pick him up on the last two years. If he doesnt work out it was UMary's problem. There is not need to take risks on projects. Look what Tyree and Bruns did. Took a chance on them and they both bolted. It has to work both ways.

Good Point. Talented like BJ not projects that will take a few years to develop. Let them go to D2 or JUCO prove their worth and transfer out. Hate the way this is going but you either adapt or lose out.

I dont see us offering many high schools seniors in the future. What is the point if they are good they leave and if they are not good they take up a scholarship. Look in the portal and build a new team each year! My opinion we wasted our scholarships on the two Bismarck kids. They wont contribute the next two years give it to someone that competes now. I do like Kraft and hope a local kid will stick around and eventually crack the rotation.

Maybe I am being petty here, but I am seeing all these nice good byes from some of the kids entering the portal. Thanking the schools and fans for the their support. UND seems to never get these heartfelt good byes from the players entering the portal. Nothing from BJ or Tyree. If anyone should have one would be Tyree. Both SDSU players sent out really nice thank yous. As a fan it helps knowing that they enjoyed their time here but just moving on to better things. When players like BJ and Tyree say nothing its like they are ungrateful. I remember Paul Bruns never did it either, made me dislike him more. Ok maybe making to much out this. Or maybe its somewhere other then twitter and I am just not seeing it.

Yes I watched every game this year. I saw Eli improve significantly from the first game to the last. He has great vision and play making ability. His defense is top notch and probably one of the best rebounding guards in the summit. If we can't find a top notch pg in the portal we will be just fine with Eli! This basically was his freshman year. Next year we will see a whole other level for him.

Don't you think Eli is our PG? I was so impressed with him this year. He just got better as the year went on. Plus his 3 point shooting really improved.

I guess we will see how many other players leave summit league teams. Sather just has a history of losing players pretty regularly. Forget freshman go after the best D2 players and Juco. I guess this our reality now.

He might have had a bad first year but he was ranked top 5 assistant coaches and mentored WNBA players. Mal had never coached and came off a 2 win season. I'd have taken a chance on a outside person.

I like that idea of chole lamb. Would definitely bring a winning mentality to the program.

Mal got the interim coach for that year. Won 2 games. They opened the position up after the season. Narrowed it to 4 finalists . Then Chaves came out and said taking interim title off Mal making her the head coach. If her job interview was coaching that team to 2 wins should have been fired. Now look at the dumpster fire we have.

Yes I believe he was from the south also. There was 4 candidates one being Mal. The other two females who I also thought would be better then Mal. When they announced the top 2 I thought well he got it and giving some credit to Mal as a alum and assistant to keep her as an assistant. Boy was I wrong. Never thought in a million years and only 2 wins the previous year would she get the job.

Look what happened to NDSU with bad coaching hires. They made a great hire in coach Jory. They went against the grain and hired a male outsider. When Mal was hired over the other guy that was in the final two with her I couldn't believe it. He had way more credentials and Mal came off a horrible year as intern coach.... but being a und grad and female gave it to her... great choice Chaves. AND im NOT saying females can't coach !!! Im saying hire the best person male OR female !!

I'd have kept Bledsoe connections in the cities over motherwell in Michigan. Those have not panned out at all.

We will have to see who is right in the future about this pick. I feel he is under sized and to slow for division 1. He would be a great player for UMary
